Hello
Having a big event this year. Not a wedding or birthday but a big celebration. 50 guests. I want to do each guest a party bag to take away. So far I have got the following ideas but I think it's a bit boring
Pic and mix in the colour scheme of the party
A mini homemade cake (my friend is a Baker so is doing these)
A small ornament connected to the event (think mini logo figure type thing)

I'm doing an individual card for each guest

What else can I put in?
I want it to be nice so can spend some money but not a huge amount
Any ideas?

Is it something you will hand out during the party or only at the end?

If during the party then I would like...

Mini bottle of booze/shot

Chocolate or sweets

Something interactive to get conversations going

Something fun/silly we could take pictures of (those silly glasses people wear, something to pose for pics)

If handed out at the end to just take home...
Soap
Candle
Seeds

Have fun!!

They'll be at everyone's seat I think like wedding favours are, although now I'm thinking if it, it could be nice to give them out with the cake. The cards will be very heartfelt so people may want to read them personally at home

Not what the OP asked.

She said she didn't want to spend much.

Alcohol minis, flower seeds, small chocolates, Paracetamol idea upthread sounds funny!

But make it a paper bag! If I got a plastic bag with plastic throwaway shit inside I would think it was very tacky. I can’t imagine that’s the intended takeaway.

Don't worry about the plastic tat aspect. Nothing in the thread has suggested that and I won't be buying that either. Plastic party bags are not the vibe

The custom ones aren't £3.50 each which is what I assume @Doggymummar was referring to.

Yes thank you, I have just had a load made for work so well aware of the cost for custom lego figures. She h as clarified she's bought knock off ones tho.

When I did party bags recently I did smores kits. A packet of chocolate biscuits and some marsh mallows… plus a tea light

Love the idea.

If there's a lot of dancing, how about a pair of flip flops for the woman to wear at the end of the night

If the budget runs to it, those fold up ballet flats that in a little bag that fits in a handbag would be better than flip flops. You can’t wear flip flops with stockings/tights/socks. Not everyone will want to go bare legged if they are wearing a dress or need a pedicure 😂 Also, pretty much everyone has flip flops. The ballet flats are really handy for weddings, parties etc but not many people have them. You would need a rough idea of shoe sizes though…

Balloonhearts · 02/08/2024 13:28

Oh for the love of fucking Christ, she isn't asking opinions on party bags in general! Just what she could put in them. Its great that you wouldn't want one, saves your friends the effort but no one cares! That's not the question she's asking!

People like this do my head in.

ApplesonTuesdays · 02/08/2024 13:29

I still have packets of seeds from parties that have never been used. I'm not a candle fan after a friend nearly burnt her house down with one. I have loads of hand cream.

Probably nice chocolates, a scratch card, trendy colourful socks - would all be useful and used.

It's difficult to decide for 50 people though as everyone is so different.

What about those pull on footsie slipper type things? With the little silicone grips on the bottom.

Aren't they one size?

nicky2512 · 02/08/2024 13:30

Maybe a little key ring? And some Lindt balls.
I am 47 and I’d absolutely love a bag like this. I’m sure someone would make use of any bits I didn’t want.
lovely idea!

Needmorelego · 02/08/2024 13:32

@crochetmonkey74 are they more for use at the party or for taking home?

I haven't bought knock off lego. The ornament is a small thing that is a shared joke/motif of what the party is about and what has become a shared symbol for us all. The lego was just a rough comparison

as I guest I would prefer to see the money put to use else where.

more food available.

a free drink on arrival if you’re not having an open bar.

an extra bit of entertainment like a magician etc.

half the things you’ll shell out for in a party bag will end up in the bin.

A magician??

Needmorelego · 02/08/2024 13:32

I think taking home because of the card. I could put each person's bit of cake in too

Have I missed the part where OP said that all the guests are female? Not sure many blokes are going to want a pair of fold up ballet flats...

We had sunflower seeds as wedding favours from Mind at our wedding, which went down really well!

This is a good idea and I have a specific seed idea I could use that is connected to the theme

I really like gift cards made with seed paper, so it can be planted in a pot/garden, and the flowers become a lovely reminder, months down the line.

Needmorelego · 02/08/2024 13:41

It's hard to know what to suggest as I don't know your friends tastes but I always like recieving little things to "do".
I like small crafts from places like Hobbycraft - the mini cross stitch sets for example.
You could get mini bead/friendship bracelet sets - your friends could then swap them.
I like Lego Polybags (generally cost around £3.50) or Primark do their own brand building bricks to make little flowers or animals and they are £2 each.
