To ask for help making an adult party bag

Hello
Having a big event this year. Not a wedding or birthday but a big celebration. 50 guests. I want to do each guest a party bag to take away. So far I have got the following ideas but I think it's a bit boring
Pic and mix in the colour scheme of the party
A mini homemade cake (my friend is a Baker so is doing these)
A small ornament connected to the event (think mini logo figure type thing)

I'm doing an individual card for each guest

What else can I put in?
I want it to be nice so can spend some money but not a huge amount
Any ideas?

Please don't fill the thread with whether you agree or not. The bag is happening.
The ornament is definitely happening and will definitely be well received. All the guests are very close and known to me so I do know it will go well.

We had wooden-handled waiters’ friends made as wedding favours and had the handles inscribed with each guests’ nickname, a shared phrase, or in joke. They weren’t cheap but everyone appreciated them and they get used loads, even if you already have one in the kitchen virtually everyone has use for an extra one for a picnic set or garden bar.

Teeny tiny champagne miniature, three expensive chocolates, the cake and if possible a polaroid of them with you/the group taken on the night.

Oh I love the Polaroid idea

Personally I would not include the ornament - most will probably end up in the bin / forgotten in a draw.

I would try and keep it to things people can eat / drink / use

so a miniature / small bottle of Prosecco / and a non alcoholic option for any non drinkers
Seeds of wild flowers they could scatter in the garden
a miniature molton brown shower gel / body lotion ( male / female as appropriate)
Novelty chocolate such as gold coin / something which matches the theme
Small scented candle

If you are all foodies perhaps some spices / specialty paste such as harissa

Enjoy your event !

I like the idea.
Not miniature bottles of booze unless you know the receivers drink alcohol.
I will have a think for ideas.
What's the budget per bag?

Balloonhearts · 02/08/2024 12:56

Those teeny bottles of champagne you get from card shops?

A mini novelty soap?
A personalised pen?

I love the idea of paracetamol for the morning after!

AngleClara · 02/08/2024 12:56

You've got some doubters here, but I really like the sound of this. It's not plastic tat, we've got a cake and other nice bits that most adults would appreciate.

@Doggymummar where on earth are you buying Lego figures from that cost £10?
They are about £3.50 for new ones or if you bought a load bulk from eBay much cheaper.

The custom ones aren't £3.50 each which is what I assume @Doggymummar was referring to.

I love this idea.

I've seen on the web hangover kits (that's if it's a boozy party). Personalised tea bags that say 'Thank you for coming to my par-tea', personalised fortune cookies with a special message inside.

Fortune cookies are a good idea. We have a great world food market in a nearby town so I may find some individually wrapped interesting things there.
Love the tea bag idea too

As an adult I wouldn't want pick and mix or an ornament! That would go straight in the bin.

Is it a crowd who would appreciate the humour of a misfortune cookie? They're very funny! My friend had them as favours at her gothy wedding and they were greatly loved.

Love the idea.

If there's a lot of dancing, how about a pair of flip flops for the woman to wear at the end of the night

saltinesandcoffeecups · 02/08/2024 13:14

It would help a bit to know the event type and general median age of the guests… but I’ll make a few assumptions here…

Anniversary and older middle age (~40 +)

  • wine glasses or tumblers -restaurant supply stores would be cheaper than most retail
  • I would make the gift bag a small cotton tote bag that is reusable
  • small alcohol

Awwww how nice of you
We likely wouldn't get on which is why you're not coming to the party

Brilliant! Primark sell them for £1 a pair.

Event type is a life affirming one rather than a birthday or anniversary
Median age of guests is mid 40s

So fun. Mini Prosecco or spirit bottles?

NameChangeForParis · 02/08/2024 13:18

Loveee this and have had a life changing moment whilst reading in which I’ve decided I’ll be prepping party bags for any event I throw in future bc I’m an adult and can do what I want. Thanks OP 😂

In terms of ideas - hard to say but if everyone has a similar hobby etc (I’m thinking maybe due to the ‘in’ joke?) I’d type that or your theme in Etsy and see what comes up. I do this soooo often in Christmas stocking prep!

Mini hand creams might be a shout? I like to get the Cath Kidson ones which are regularly on sale at 3 for £4 and have pretty patterns.

Love the idea above about mini paracetamol - maybe use Canva etc to print little themed sleeves for them?

Have fun! 😍

Needmorelego · 02/08/2024 13:18

@MonsteraMama oh right. Although it depends where you get them. Some companies are quite reasonable if you bulk buy.

Korblimee · 02/08/2024 13:19

I went to a wedding recently and everyone was given a hangover cure bag

PurpleRobe · 02/08/2024 13:19

Is it something you will hand out during the party or only at the end?

If during the party then I would like...

Mini bottle of booze/shot

Chocolate or sweets

Something interactive to get conversations going

Something fun/silly we could take pictures of (those silly glasses people wear, something to pose for pics)

If handed out at the end to just take home...
Soap
Candle
Seeds

Have fun!!

purser25 · 02/08/2024 13:20

I would love it. Ideas seeds or some bulbs like crocuses . Small shower gel.

Kitkatcatflap · 02/08/2024 13:20

Werweisswohin · 02/08/2024 12:54

Agreed.

A magician? I can't think of anything worse. A party bag wins over a cheesy magician any day

I am sure the OP has food and beverages covered.

Seriously, OP asked for party bags suggestions, not lifestyle virtue signalling.

Good luck OP

SoOriginal · 02/08/2024 13:23

Alcohol minis, flower seeds, small chocolates, Paracetamol idea upthread sounds funny!

But make it a paper bag! If I got a plastic bag with plastic throwaway shit inside I would think it was very tacky. I can’t imagine that’s the intended takeaway.
