Why are people in Hartlepool and London rioting following the horrific Southport stabbings? I understand it seems to be the far right but what are they actually rioting about? I genuinely don’t understand-the news doesn’t seem to say an actual agenda. What do they want?

Because they're thick.

They want an excuse to smash things up and set things on fire and behave like idiots.

They don't understand the news either.

Sirzy · 01/08/2024 20:30

They are racist thugs who want the rest of the world to listen to their bullshit opinions.

The x lies from the other day have kick started them into “action”

nameynamenamenamename · 01/08/2024 20:30

That don’t need a reason. It’s like skinheads in the 70s and 80s. They just want to fight, and wankers like SYL and NF exploit that and them to get publicity and therefore money.

What lies? I maybe haven’t read enough and dug deep enough.

They dont even know. In my town a Facebook post was made inviting people to gather outside the council building to protest. People asked what they were protesting and they couldn't actually provide an answer they just said it was "to keep our kiddies safe"

MyOtherHusbandIsAWash · 01/08/2024 20:32

I assume given the demographic it relates to the colour of his skin, but I then lose the thread.

My assumption would be anti-immigration?

TheBizzies · 01/08/2024 20:33

Some will use any excuse for violence

singularsensation · 01/08/2024 20:33

As I understand it, after the Southport tragedy someone said on social media that the attacker was an asylum seeker and a Muslim.

This led to right wing / anti Muslim riots

Now the police have confirmed that the attacker was Welsh and Christian.

PoopedAndScooped · 01/08/2024 20:34

But the guy is British? He was born in Cardiff wasn’t he? Or are they just doing the delightful thing of equating whiteness with Britishness? TBF I can’t say I’m surprised! Not exactly an army of Nobel potentials…

Its going to come as a nasty shock to them, if they every come across the evidence that "our kiddies" are 10 times more likely to be harmed by someone they know than a stranger. Or are they keeping "our kiddies" safe by not being at home with them?

To be fair, if the local football team plays a Welsh team, that it appears is a reason to fight and smash things up, so perhaps that is the reason this time?

Ah ok, I wasn’t aware of that. That makes sense why the rabid right would be spunking over him doing something so awful.

Some non-uk news sites were reporting that the perpetrator in Southport was a recent immigrant and was Muslim, and that was a motive for the attack. It was obviously complete nonsense, but there was little that could be reported in the Uk because of the perpetrator's age and rules about reporting on criminal court cases. Which is why his name has now been made public, rather than waiting another week till he is 18 to make his name known.

Then people decided to seize on those incorrect assumptions and start attacking all Muslims/immigrants and the police, just because people like that tend to hate the police.

Plus, rioting is more common in hot summers.

Dear lord they are ridiculous. Why don't they volunteer at a local youth centre, protest and advocate for women and children's rights, go to the library and read up on toxic masculinity, start a club for boys to encourage positive relationships and learn about respect and consent. So so many things instead of rioting.

I assume given the demographic it relates to the colour of his skin, but I then lose the thread.

On twitter several accounts posted the "name" of the attacker (different ones , all muslim sounding) with various "details" like asylum seeker off the boats last month etc. Such "facts" spread like wildfire.

Succinctly put, thank you. God the far right really are awful! What a thing to use to fuel the anti-muslim rhetoric.

A few days ago, some children were stabbed by a 17 year old in Southport. Three children died and several more are still in hospital.

Rumours spread on social media that the murderer was an asylum seeker from the small boats.

Far right activists gathered outside a mosque in Southport, attacked the police with bricks and torched a police car.

Activists also gathered outside downing street and in Hartlepool. They say they want to protect children and were chanting far right slogans.

I hope that clears it up for you.

SummerSnowstorm · 01/08/2024 20:40

I'd assume their aim is to make the UK seem less inviting or appealing to potential migrants. I can't imagine they think it will make anyone settled here leave.

shellyleppard · 01/08/2024 20:40

@MyOtherHusbandIsAWash there was a tweet/ social media post started that the thing who killed those little girls was an illegal immigrant. So everyone jumped on the bandwagon and started attacking ethnic minorities. From what I can gather myself

As fast as I know, no ethnic minorities have been attacked.

Thanks all for the clarification. The whole thing is so upsetting, I was almost in tears reading about Southport when it happened.

@cupcaske123 an Asian man was randomly punched by a man who was rioting in Hartlepool. A mosque was a target in Southport.

Because it's warm out, they're frustrated with their lives, and they're a bit thick.
