Why are people in Hartlepool and London rioting following the horrific Southport stabbings? I understand it seems to be the far right but what are they actually rioting about? I genuinely don’t understand-the news doesn’t seem to say an actual agenda. What do they want?

You can ask every single one of them and I bet not one could give you an intelligent answer.

The truth is they don’t actually know.

They want everyone who isn’t British (aka white or Christian) to be kicked out of Britain.

I see lots of comments saying send them back to XX place, even though they’re born and bred in the UK.

Many of them cannot get their heads around this guy being born in the UK and keep saying he should be deported and cannot grasp the fact that being black doesn’t mean you are from another country.

Bemusedandconfusedagain · 01/08/2024 21:27

I read a suggestion on the BBC that the rumours were started by hostile state actors looking to stir up trouble in the UK. Sounds about right. We need some good thunder storms, that tends to calm riots down. They always seem to happen when it's hot and sweaty.

MyOtherHusbandIsAWash · 01/08/2024 20:35

But the guy is British? He was born in Cardiff wasn’t he? Or are they just doing the delightful thing of equating whiteness with Britishness? TBF I can’t say I’m surprised! Not exactly an army of Nobel potentials…

Yep - they’re saying he shouldn’t have been here as is parents shouldn’t have been allowed in. X has turned into a complete cesspit.

Elsvieta · 01/08/2024 21:28

The murderer is black and they're racist.

Humdingerydoo · 01/08/2024 21:30

letsjustdothis · 01/08/2024 20:53

We're used to it.

I did actually raise an eyebrow back when there were Jews on the news saying they were scared to walk through London now, because it's been that way for me my whole life.

Believe me, it is not exactly a recent thing for Jewish people (which is generally the preferred term in these kind of instances, not "Jews") either. Not sure why that would make you raise an eyebrow though? Such an odd thing to say.

My theory is that in the past, having a dick, a massive ego and sense of entitlement was enough to allow you to bullshit through life and be relatively successful. You didn't need a brain, just to be a bit of a bully. Now that is no longer enough and now people see these people for who they are - narcissistic, entitled weirdos with no critical thinking skills. Women now find them repulsive, not attractive. It's a struggle for them this loss of power, so rioting allows them to swing their dicks about and be self-righteous, and doing this amongst other like minded people makes them feel powerful.

I do think there will be more of this sadly. I think it is a symptom of COL and people not earning enough to have a decent level of living. Anger flows into the wrong channels then and is directed towards immigrants. These race related riots were common in other times where deprivation has increased.

It's the same situation with people perpetrating these attack really. They want to lash out and be recognised/gain notoriety. Any attention is good attention, even if they are despised.

You didn't really need it explained to you though did you OP? You just wanted people to pile on and call them twats. Happy to oblige.

I definitely didn’t need anyone to explain the EDL and their like are twats, absolutely! But I wasn’t sure what the actual desired outcome of the riots was (if there even was one). Obviously I figured it would be something racial but beyond that I didn’t know. Knowing there was fake news about him being off a boat and muslim so they are rioting over immigration and religion (however tenuously) I now understand (even if I obviously don’t agree).

Am I allowed to say I told you so?

Not sure who is in tonight from MNHQ but you’ve got your work cut out…

Funny how nobody rioted when that man from radio 5's family were killed with a cross bow. Or when Lucy Letby murdered all those babies (leaving aside the theories that she didn't, she has been convicted twice). Or any number of awful awful killings committed by white British nationals. Almost as if the far right are deliberately trying to stir up trouble with a racist agenda.

I don't think the 'far right' need to stir up anything for a riot to start, there is enough bubbling under the surface of a large segment of society, that they don't need to be agitated by any faction other than themselves, in order to kick off. It's ready to happen in response to crimes that they consider to be coming from groups other than themselves. It's surprising it hasn't happened more often from the White British 'side' before about these particular issues of racial unrest, given the depth of feeling for some people. (It has from other groups.)

The 'far right' will join in but they don't need to make it happen.

Lucy Letby everyone hates, but there isn't what some feel is a wider underlying issue there which would cause a riot.

I'm surprised more wasn't made of the crossbow guy. I think it went under the radar because he was somewhat white-passing.

I don't think any of this is right, but it is something that's there, as we've just seen.

I don't think there's another term for it except two tier policing- at least when it came to the classic example of the grooming gangs who got away with it for so long.
But I hope policing isn't that way all that often.

Re the crossbow crime- the reason you’re not hearing anything is because it’s sub judice

They are tanked up on conspiracy theories, tanked up on racism courtesy of the likes of Stephen Yaxley Lennon/Tommy Robinson, tanked up on cheap cider and cocaine and they like fighting.

Newsenmum · 01/08/2024 21:39

My understanding that there were groups of people out for the vigil, so some generally right wing hooligans decided to make it about something else.

I figured there might be the odd one crawls out of the woodwork. I had my original question answered almost immediately so if MNHQ end up removing the thread so be it-I got what I came for so to speak. I have no interest in engaging in racist garbage.

Stupidity and a lack of education.

Some / many will be racists too.

5128gap · 01/08/2024 21:42

Sometimes men malfunction. They have no humanity, morality, civilisation or rationality. All they have is a desire for violence. They find each other on line and decide to be violent together. So they can recognise each other and know where to turn up to commit the violence, and what to chant on the way, they pick a group as their enemy. Sometimes this is the supporters of another football team, sometimes a racial or religious group, sometimes people who are gay, or women, or immigrants or the police. There is no rationality to their target because it could be anyone. Its the fight that matters. On a slow day they fight each other.

Blinky21 · 01/08/2024 21:43

It was also partially fuelled by incorrect reporting on social media that a Muslim man was arrested at the vigil in Southport with a knife.
Even if the perpetrator was Muslim, why target a mosque, unless they are now planning on attacking churches because his family are apparently Christians and regular church goers.
It's just a load of thick racists using the deaths of children to further their agenda, egged on by Farage, Tice and Andrew Tate

LBFseBrom · 01/08/2024 21:43

MyOtherHusbandIsAWash · 01/08/2024 20:32

I assume given the demographic it relates to the colour of his skin, but I then lose the thread.

I wondered about that but he was born in Cardiff and lived in Banks. Banks is not an area with a high immigrant/children of immigrants area at all. I only looked it up because someone else on FB was making suggestions that he was oft Indian subcontinent ethnicity, Muslim and linked to terrorism. In fact, the only thing the police have said about the boy is that he is not Muslim (I think they said that, they did say it had nothing to do terrorism).

Honestly, those thugs believe anything and just love causing trouble. It was disgusting.

OneFrenchEgg · 01/08/2024 21:46

This is completely off topic but if my (Scottish) parents had moved to Italy and I was born there would I be Italian? When people say he was born here, he's British, it makes sense but then it doesn't make sense the other way.
Sorry, I might be really ignorant on this.

Lifeomars · 01/08/2024 21:47

SilenceInside · 01/08/2024 20:47

Absolutely, it must be terrifying to be Asian or just not definitely white British in towns where this rioting has been happening. The things that people are chanting are just out and out racist. Racist name calling, attacking mosques, chanting "this is our town".... intimidating is an understatement.

Horrible, I am white but live in a very mixed area and there is a mosque at the end of my street, makes me feel a bit anxious but god only knows what it must be like to be an obvious target of mindless hate.

Strange how these men did not go out rioting when Wayne Couzens was found guilty, or when David Garrick was given a life sentence for multiple sex offences

@MyOtherHusbandIsAWash its absolutely horrible. I've stopped watching the news anymore as its too upsetting

I am feeling overwhelmed by it, I have some difficult family stuff going on and what with this and the news being horrendous it feels as if there is no hiding place. Trying to distract myself with music
