Why are people in Hartlepool and London rioting following the horrific Southport stabbings? I understand it seems to be the far right but what are they actually rioting about? I genuinely don’t understand-the news doesn’t seem to say an actual agenda. What do they want?

I’m not sure why you keep posting to disagree with me and telling me to stop posting, when we are actually in agreement and we are both saying the same thing- that misinformation (which has since been corrected) caused an overreaction/excuse for violence by right wing racist thugs.

There was social media messaging calling for EDL and far right groups to get to the area, targeting the mosque because the suspect had been wrongly identified as a Muslim asylum seeker. I have a couple of friends who were at the railway station in Southport on Tuesday evening and by the numbers coming in, they said they knew there would be trouble because it was fairly obvious why they were there. Our local MP said that the tragedy had been hijacked by thugs for their own purposes. He was spot on.

I’ve seen one or two reports on the news this morning that pensioners demonstrating outside Downing Street last night about the cut in winter fuel payment, got mixed up with the trouble makers and that over 100 pensioners were either arrested or moved on by police. Not much more information than that.

I wasn’t talking about the stabber. My post was about a man who was arrested at the vigil/riots who many right wing thugs posted a photo of his arrest online, claiming he was Asian/arab/muslim, to use as an excuse for rioting and targeting the Mosque, when he has now been identified by police as a right wing agitated called Jordan Davies.

This is what you posted. It includes information which you re-posted twice, despite being told it was wrong. The man was not at the vigil. He was arrested two streets away, after stop and search powers were introduced, and after a member of the public reported he had been seen with a knife. This was well after the violence had started. The actual perpetrator was wrongly identified online as a Muslim asylum seeker, and that caused EDL and other far right thugs to travel to Southport and gather outside the mosque. Nothing whatever to do with the arrest of this man. If you keep posting misinformation this thread will go the same way as half a dozen others - deleted.
