Totally disgusted by those rioting in Southport

Bex5490 · 30/07/2024 22:18

Southport has experienced the most unbelievable tragedy.

Their emergency services had to respond to probably the most traumatic calls they’ve ever had, yet tonight they are being attacked by thugs?

The latest is that these people are destroying people’s homes to get bricks with which to throw at the police.

I am heartbroken, bewildered and disgusted. How dare they destroy the homes of that grieving town.

Mindless violent thugs. Anything for a bit of a punch up. Scum, the lot of them.

Yes same with the Romanian people the other week rioting causing destruction to much needed police & ambulance cars. They got the kids back at the end of it.

Twistybranch · 30/07/2024 23:02

I see personal attacks are the only way posters think this thread will be deleted.

You are all just as bad as the poster you complain about

I'm not being rude - you literally said you couldn't access the news.

There is plenty of information about the tragedy in Southport on reputable news sites.

No I've just looked there's no answers to the the things I enquired about on here

@Scottishlassie28 And regardless, this is about the poor victims and their families!! You vile creatures are just using this as an opportunity to go in full force with your racist/bigoted rhetoric.

PadstowGirl · 30/07/2024 23:03

Those poor police and fire officers, having to deal with the trauma of yesterday and the violent mindless thugs tonight.

It's not because of immigration.

I can't believe anyone would justify rioting in a community that just experienced such an awful tragedy. Can you imagine how scared children in those near by houses must be feeling right now. It's quite possible some of the victims were immigrants and now their families will be too scared to leave their houses. Anyone supporting the rioters should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.

The Fiscal Impact of Immigration in the UK - Migration Observatory

This briefing gives an overview of research on the impact of immigration on government finances in the UK and explains the main issues related to estimating the fiscal impact of immigration in the UK.

Here we go. A sixth form Marxist rant to explain a complex issue.

I’m not the op but they’re not incorrect. Which part do you disagree with?

easier to scream about immigrants (or ‘immagrants’ as one clearly articulate poster on this thread said!) though, isn’t it hun?

anotherside · 30/07/2024 23:04

ll09sm · 30/07/2024 22:49

All of that irrelevant. Because it changes nothing. Pissed up thugs don’t occur in a vacuum. And these groups don’t stay localised for long.

As I say, either we can all go tut tut tut or acknowledge that there is a deeper cause.

Pissed up thugs exist in nearly every country in Earth. They will always find “a cause” to justify their hobby.

If you want to get sngey at anyone, get sngey at the government for dismissing peoples concerns and allowing it to come to this.

WTF are you on about?

The murderer is British.

Another idiot who swallows crap from the internet.

MrsPinkFlower · 31/07/2024 08:54

All this immigration talk is a moot point. The rioters don’t care about the dead children. They don’t care about the grieving families/ friends/ neighbours. They don’t care about immigration. They only care about the excitement they experience from being part of a violent mob. They’re racists who want an excuse to be violent to innocent strangers.

Paul2023 · 31/07/2024 08:58

Completely unacceptable but I wish the media would stop saying things like far right.

Mindless ,violent thugs yes but I hate the way groups are described as either far right or far left.

In this case the term seems to be correctly applied. Why don't you want it used?

SerafinasGoose · 31/07/2024 09:11

ll09sm · 30/07/2024 22:26

Feeling heart broken or outraged won’t help.

We need to ask why. Because all of these events have a greater propensity to turn into a protest against mass migration. Irrespective of whether the issue is immigration related or not, this is what is in danger of happening.

You can shout racist and dismiss the people doing it. But it doesn’t make the problem go away. This is how far right movements take hold. Do not sweep this under the carpet by calling people names. Ask why, despite repeated warnings, the corrupt politicians in this country have failed and refused to do anything about the rapid change in people’s surroundings, neighbourhoods, cultural experiences and assimilation impact.

There is nothing racist about calling this out. Burying your head in the sand and namecalling is utter stupidity and makes the problem worse.

Three children have been murdered.

This is not the time or the place for a discussion about racism. It's also (yet again) a clear demonstration of the sheer ignorance and stupidity of the EDL/far right thugs. Firstly, capitalizing on someone else's tragedy to fuel their agenda is unlikely to win them many friends or influence people. Secondly, they are targeting the emergency services and first responders who were lauded only hours ago for the work they did to help the victims. And thirdly, as has frequently been pointed out, the suspect's parents came here from Rwanda, a Christian country that only has about a 2% Muslim demographic.

Do we see them attacking churches in retribution? Of course not. Because they're ignorant, myopic and completely lacking in emotional intelligence or intellectual capacity. Islamophobia and racism are not the intelligent response. Nor is exploiting a horrific tragedy involving innocent children to make a point which is barely, if at all, connected to that tragedy.

The question as to why successive governments have (strategically and deliberately) failed to address public concerns about immigration is one for another thread. The easy, short answer is because it doesn't suit them and they have their own reasons for this.

The rioters are ignorant, racist thugs. Not sorry.

Dulra · 31/07/2024 09:19

There was a study in Ireland after anti immigrant riots and protests in a number of locations that demonstrated that the majority of IP addresses providing the misinformation and inciting the unrest were fake and from outside the State. This is an issue across Europe and no doubt prevalent in the UK too. Interesting article on it linked below. These rioters are just falling into their trap to create division unrest and hate in the UK.

Research by Sky News also found anti-immigration hashtags such as #IrelandIsFull were predominantly used by commenters based in the US

Foreign actors are influencing more extreme protests on domestic scene

Migration and asylum is a growing concern and fuelling far-right activism

ll09sm · 30/07/2024 22:33

Who is justifying it?

Your outrage doesn’t change the situation. Standing on he sidelines going ‘oh how bad’ doesn’t change why this is happening. It’s happening because people, irrespective of being right or wrong, good or bad, smart or stupid, have been told that they are racist for questioning how they feel about mass migration.

Shutting people up instead of listening to whatever they are saying, no matter he merits of the argument, is the stupidest thing that you can do. Strangely enough the progressive liberals are some of the stupidest people, never acknowledging the unintended consequences of their virtue signalling.

Thats what this is about.

Not trying to goad you - I have genuine questions. What do you feel ought to happen now, to make these people feel "listened to"? What would them being "listened to" look like to you? Who do you want to do the listening, that you feel is currently failing to?

Because your take on the situation is almost diametrically opposed to yours, and I am confident I am not "some of the stupidest people". But I would like to try to understand your view better.....

These thugs attacking the Police in Southport were probably the same ones defending them for their actions at Manchester airport.

Thepeopleversuswork · 31/07/2024 09:45

@ll09sm

The answer is to have lower immigration. At pre nu Labour levels. However that would require our corrupt and incompetent politicians to want to do something and there is no chance of that.

Let’s assume for the sake of argument for a moment this is correct (and for the record I disagree with you).

What does any of this have to do with a UK born citizen going on a killing spree?
