Totally disgusted by those rioting in Southport

Bex5490 · 30/07/2024 22:18

Southport has experienced the most unbelievable tragedy.

Their emergency services had to respond to probably the most traumatic calls they’ve ever had, yet tonight they are being attacked by thugs?

The latest is that these people are destroying people’s homes to get bricks with which to throw at the police.

I am heartbroken, bewildered and disgusted. How dare they destroy the homes of that grieving town.

Well you don't live where i live do you, I live in the NE and its is a melting pot that has failed on multiple levels.

So yes you are attempting to minimise my experiences. I'm sorry to say the people who live in the london bubble have zero experience of people who do not, so don't patronise us with you claims of what it is and why you have already been told. unfortunately it does not reflect you area so it must be wrong narrative or were a racist.

You have demonstrated exactly why so many people are angry and the cluster fuck goverment in their london bubble as no clue.

Edited

I do live in the NE and I completely disagree that multiculturalism has failed here. There are pockets of unrest (see Hartlepool this week) and there are certainly disaffected people but that is much more down to poverty, lack of education, jobs, poor social mobility etc than immigration.

Fluufer · 02/08/2024 11:22

If other areas are less white and not experiences the same issues, the problem might not always be the migrants...

Exactly my point.

Judging by the rapid decline in grammar and recent complete word salad posts on here- I think the Reform mugs and bots are infiltrating- clearly the election money has come through!!

You want to be careful- you've totally lost my FILs vote- he may be right wing and anti mass immigration but he hates yobs and aggressive roided up twats - and thinks debate should be through proper channels - especially at what should have been a vigil and Now sees Farage for what he is- taken a long time - but hey he's finally there and actively sees a lot he likes in Starmer and Davey

I've not forced silence on anyone or refused to acknowledge anyone's experiences.

Nor have any groups in my very multicultural city.

We've all got along pretty well and the last thing we need is violent thugs importing themselves to cause harm to innocent people.

Why is your response to someone feeling concerned for their family's safety to say "cry me a river"?

You live in the North East? So nowhere near Southport. Yet purporting to be an authority on it.
You were the one hectoring me the other night on a deleted thread insisting (wrongly) that there were no Muslims trapped in the Mosque here - when the people you support were trying to set fire to it. You know all that for sure from the NE?

So you either know sod all first hand about what happened in Southport that night and have picked it up from your s.m. OR you were one of those bussed in angry white men wrecking our neighbourhood cos yanno immigration. How pathetic using these murders for your own agenda.

And MNHQ are still allowing you to post your bile?

So, the question of exactly why you are here now becomes relevant.

You don't need to trouble yourself to answer that. I think the majority of us can see quite well.

Twistybranch
How on earth do you know that the perpetrator was Christian?
**
People keep spouting the statistics of Rawanda religious demographics but he was born here. Additionally many people leave countries where they practice a religion that is different to the majority.
**
So you don’t know his parents religion (if they have one) and you don’t know how (if he has one)
**
Your post is irresponsible

Daniel Sandford, I think it was, reported on BBC news that his parents worship at a Southport Christian church. It’s a reasonable assumption that an under 18 follows the same religion as their parents.

I lived in bit so good parts of West London and South London in the 90’s racism abound it was absolutely hideous place to live with the divisiveness and hatefulness, why does anyone want to return to that!

Goldenbear · 02/08/2024 11:46

Not a single point trying to talk to the ignorant, apparently they know our areas better then we do even though they don't live here and have never even been. 😂

We’re in the NW. Not many black families but lots of Asian people. Everyone rubs along pretty happily together. Not a lot of trouble but when there is it’s mostly drunk, white people, especially in our coastal resorts.

DecusCulinae · 02/08/2024 11:46

Scirocco · 02/08/2024 10:47

If the UK doesn't have a racism problem, how would you explain the lived experiences of the many people who have experienced and continue to experience racism in the UK?

I have personally received threats of violence and sexual assault explicitly linked to racial motivation by the perpetrators. My husband has been physically assaulted because of the colour of his skin.

There are situations in which the way in which people respond to me online or over the phone differs, depending on whether I use my ('white-sounding') maiden last name or my married last name.

My DH is a better driver than I am. He gets stopped for 'random' checks far more often than I do.

We have a 75% success rate of at least one of us being a 'random' search at several airports.

Etc.

You do realise you have confirmation bias here in this post?

My cars get stopped depending of where I go, and I travel a lot for business. I’m also a frequent “last minute” flier due to my job, have to book flights literally hours before heading off. This put me on radar and I am searched at EVERY airport. And I have never put any of my experiences on racism or my looks or anything. I’m actually glad they are searching me and stopping me. It means they have decency of tracking certain things and do their jobs of keeping the population safe.

none of these examples would be applicable in solving the knife crime unfortunately. Every kitchen has a knife. Very hard to police. Stop and search only works in deprived areas, so what happened in Southport wouldn’t be going under that banner either. But my point is that you’re basing your LIFE experiences living in largely safe country due to airport searches and car stopping, on completely unrelated grounds and calling it racism. These people are doing their jobs.

LaeralSilverhand · 02/08/2024 11:48

Can someone explain how all these unsavoury types are being 'silenced', which seems to be one of their major gripes? They don't appear to be very silent on social media, and certainly seem to have their cheerleaders in traditional media too.

Does 'silenced' mean 'having my opinions challenged by people who disagree with me'?

PandoraSox · 02/08/2024 11:49

I think MNHQ need to have a think about what Starmer said yesterday about the responsibilities of social media platforms. How some posts and posters are allowed to remain is baffling.

That is exactly what they mean. Silenced, ignored, not listened to = not getting their way so throwing a tantrum.

Sorry but one minute you were arguing this country wasn’t safe now you are arguing it is ‘largely safe’. Equally, as I just said above London 90s wasn’t particularly safe as there was lots of racism and you wouldn’t know this as you are Swiss! My brother in law lived in Switzerland and loved all the rules like no noise after 10pm, no washing machines on at certain times, etc, as he is a rule based person. British culture isn’t really like that hence why we produced some of the best music in the world and that along with fashion was one of our biggest exports. Are you sure that your bad experience when you arrived wasn’t just a culture clash as you are used to conformity?

BIossomtoes · 02/08/2024 11:53

And I have never put any of my experiences on racism or my looks or anything.

Why would you? Blue eyed women are rarely the targets of racism.

LaeralSilverhand · 02/08/2024 11:54

@DecusCulinae your car gets stopped 'depending on where you go?' Really? Because I've never once been stopped by police in over 30 years of driving. I'm white for the benefit of the doubt. I have black colleagues for whom being stopped and search was a weekly occurrence when they were younger.

This, along with the portrayal of Aberdeen as downtown Kabul, makes me think you're full of shit and just another (not very good) bad actor.

What I'm saying is that, if my family members who are not white or who have 'non-white' names are doing exactly the same things as people we know who are white and have 'white' names, the experiences differ. In many of those cases, race or perceived race/faith/culture is explicitly given as part of the reason for those differences.

Someone says they're stopping my husband because someone 'like him' driving in an area looks suspicious.

Someone picks us for extra searches because "well, you know, given the current climate we have to be careful about people like you".

Someone decides they want to threaten to rape me because I'm a "blood traitor".

Someone decides their child shouldn't play with mine because they don't want "terrorist influences" on their child.

It's really rather difficult to not attribute some things to racism or religious prejudice when the people doing them are openly stating that race and religion are factors in their motivation.

Yes, this is hilarious, Aberdeen who knew it was so bad?

I have only been stopped in a car when it was COVID restrictions and New Years Eve, the Police asked me where I was going and where I had come from as they had heard there was a secret rave planned. Said I was a Mum doing a good shop and they wished me well and a Happy New Year!

Goldenbear · 02/08/2024 11:59

Food shop that should read!

Crikeyalmighty · 02/08/2024 12:00

@orchiddottyback the ethnic population in the north east is 7% and that includes British born of ethnic backgrounds- which means 93% are white British -

Hardly overrun!! It may be higher in very specific areas- if you hate it that much- move!!
