Totally disgusted by those rioting in Southport

1000 replies

Bex5490 · 30/07/2024 22:18

Southport has experienced the most unbelievable tragedy.

Their emergency services had to respond to probably the most traumatic calls they’ve ever had, yet tonight they are being attacked by thugs?

The latest is that these people are destroying people’s homes to get bricks with which to throw at the police.

I am heartbroken, bewildered and disgusted. How dare they destroy the homes of that grieving town.

I chuckle every time someone dismisses something as “racism”. Interesting how my black British husband born to British parents none of whom were immigrants, speaks things I speak about quite publicly and is never called a racist. He is openly allowed to express himself because of how he looks. But me, who happens to have blue eyes, gets called a racist just because 😏 racism goes both ways - it’s hate of race. And uk doesn’t have racism problem. Neither does Switzerland. It’s just a word that people use when they don’t agree with stats. Far left is as bad as far right.

Of course there's a black husband 👍

You have been on every thread complaining about immigration, which I find bloody ironic. Not a reasoned critique, but just dogwhistling against non whites of every type. And then you come up with " But my husband is black".

This 👆.

I faced a lot of abuse growing up in a predominantly strong cultural area of non whites. But try complain about it or my brother kicks off seeing his sister being spat on and insulted results in the police knocking at our door for claims of racism, but when you try to explain what actually happened your met with side eye looks and silence.

There are loads of women and families like mine that have been silenced for too long, just because we're white.

Bex5490 · 02/08/2024 10:32

@DecusCulinae so how did your husband become Black British out of interest? Or his parents? No immigration ever along his ancestral journey?

Funny people agreeing with you on this thread are doing exactly the reverse all over MN, baiting posters. 🙄

How does your black husband feel about being married to a white racist? Must get quite uncomfortable at times.

Hahaha never, he’s campaigning against uncontrolled immigration. That’s why his public speeches are not shunned, but my posts for some reason are.

Can I ask though - do you think multiculturalism is the issue in these areas or is it when there are only two cultures and poverty?

I’ve lived in London all my life with people of every race and religion and never seen anything like this.

I don’t minimise the experience of girls like those in Rochdale and say they weren’t prayed upon because of being from the category of white AND working class (because that is relevant).

But I also don’t pretend that male abuse is exclusive to certain cultures because it definitely isn’t.

OMG I saw him - he was the 1 black guy your ‘protester’ friends are always trying to throw in front of the camera to make their rallies seem not completely white! 😂😂😂

You should put him in different outfits and take pictures of him in different backgrounds to really get the most out of him!

So you're both hypocrites as well as racists? Thanks for clarifying.

We don’t protest, thank you very much, as this is another form of violence and riots are not on.

there are significantly more powerful ways to get legislation through than protests. Look at France - protests don’t help them do they.

as for “different outfits” - are you suggesting that black people look the same and can only be identified by outfits???

If the UK doesn't have a racism problem, how would you explain the lived experiences of the many people who have experienced and continue to experience racism in the UK?

I have personally received threats of violence and sexual assault explicitly linked to racial motivation by the perpetrators. My husband has been physically assaulted because of the colour of his skin.

There are situations in which the way in which people respond to me online or over the phone differs, depending on whether I use my ('white-sounding') maiden last name or my married last name.

My DH is a better driver than I am. He gets stopped for 'random' checks far more often than I do.

We have a 75% success rate of at least one of us being a 'random' search at several airports.

Etc.

Well you don't live where i live do you, I live in the NE and its is a melting pot that has failed on multiple levels.

So yes you are attempting to minimise my experiences. I'm sorry to say the people who live in the london bubble have zero experience of people who do not, so don't patronise us with you claims of what it is and why you have already been told. unfortunately it does not reflect you area so it must be wrong narrative or were a racist.

You have demonstrated exactly why so many people are angry and the cluster fuck goverment in their london bubble as no clue.

Uricon2 · 02/08/2024 10:54

"And uk doesn’t have racism problem. Neither does Switzerland."

Why, because you a white person of Swiss extraction say so? I'll listen to posters talking about their lived experience as BAME people over you I think. The riot the other night was pretty much a documentary example of racism in action.

Given that London is the most multicultural city in the UK, your argument falls at the first hurdle.

Aberdeen

"But I’ve never experienced there what I’ve experienced here when I moved to a minority dominated area as a student in the UK. I couldn’t sleep at night. It was terrifying. Police 2-3 times a weeks. I couldn’t walk safe after dark, I was scared for life in Broad daylight. Men had many wives, all very loud and dirty, leaving rubbish on streets. "

This doesn't really sound like a description of Aberdeen...

To those of us fearing for our own and our family's safety due to the riots and associated racist and Islamophobic violence, that last sentence does come across as quite threatening.

If other areas are less white and not experiences the same issues, the problem might not always be the migrants...
