Totally disgusted by those rioting in Southport

Bex5490 · 30/07/2024 22:18

Southport has experienced the most unbelievable tragedy.

Their emergency services had to respond to probably the most traumatic calls they’ve ever had, yet tonight they are being attacked by thugs?

The latest is that these people are destroying people’s homes to get bricks with which to throw at the police.

I am heartbroken, bewildered and disgusted. How dare they destroy the homes of that grieving town.

Someone DH knew had a second family in Thailand, apparently his wife knew nothing about. He did a lot of business out there. He'd go out four times a year. DH said the man thought she was lucky because he'd taken her off the streets and her parents lived there.

Made my skin crawl but what do I know.

And let me guess…younger than his British wife?

Yep, I would safely say that men from all races and cultures have the ability to make my skin crawl…

I’ve literally been gang-raped by white men.
Equating complaining about violence by white men to “moaning about wolf-whistling” is so far beyond words that I’m honestly speechless

And this is horrendous and I’m sorry you have had to read comments that minimise your experience.

I am absolutely flabbergasted that protestors are drawing more criticism than the thug who murdered 3 girls.

They’re not protesters, they’re violent imbeciles intent on destruction and harm. The girls’ families and the community in Southport did not want this.

shuggles · 01/08/2024 23:23

And yet, the Black Lives Matter movement has been destroying cities for over a decade, and that movement is held up as a shining example of morality and justice?

Crikeyalmighty · 01/08/2024 23:29

@shuggles it's not exclusive- there's room to be totally disgusted at both - this was flagged up by far right on X to be about 'immigration/race' - he may be black, he was also born here and lived here all his life . If he's not British then neither is Sunak, Patel, Braverman etc.He is a total shit , but so are people creating menace and violence at what was meant to be a vigil- yep a vigil complete with with crates of booze and flags etc and throwing bricks. A load of utter thick losers.

Not really. The murderer is in custody and can't do anything further. The ongoing rioting (not protesting) is senseless and is not really anything to do with the murders - it's just an excuse. Attacking the police, damaging homes and property of people? Attacking mosques and Asian people? (The perpetrator is not Asian or Muslim although obviously even if he was it wouldn't be a reason for this behaviour).

Do you have an example of the BLM movement destroying a city?

Anyone who does a 2 minute search online can easily find a video of BLM protestors looting shops, starting fires, and causing criminal damage. If you haven't seen this, then it's because you have chosen to ignore it.

If you don’t care about his skin or race then what is the relevance of the ‘protests?’

How can the focus of your protests be boats full of refugees entering illegally and Muslims, in response to a murderer who didn’t enter illegally, wasn’t on a boat and isn’t a Muslim?

If it wasn’t so tragic and terrifying it would be hilarious. How thick do you have to be to respond to a Christian murderer by attacking a Mosque?

How on earth do you know that the perpetrator was Christian?

People keep spouting the statistics of Rawanda religious demographics but he was born here. Additionally many people leave countries where they practice a religion that is different to the majority.

So you don’t know his parents religion (if they have one) and you don’t know how (if he has one)

Your post is irresponsible

I know that he was a Christian because all of the media sources reporting on this case have said so.

He was extremely active within the church according to all media outlets. 🙄

Irresponsibility is looking for reasons to excuse rioting & violent behaviour.

Let the police and courts do their business. There's no justification for further violence.

Violent protests are not a way to protest against male violence. Hmm

Just like the gobshites who invaded Southport and terrified kids who were already traumatised? They spent the next night watching these people smash up, loot, and set fires in their neighbourhood. They bricked and hurt our local emergency services. They were a shower of ale filled bums, they weren't protesting for us.

Also, are you insinuating that his country of birth has more of an impact culturally and religiously than his country of origin?

Well that’s in contrast to those saying that we have a problem with immigration because people don’t assimilate isn’t it?

Not quite as random as a shower. (Sorry don't know how to get a sharetoken from the website version)

Yes, those are media outlets

Where are the articles from these media outlets, that specifically state he is a practising member of the Christian church?

Oh ffs - all he would have had to have been was from any Middle Eastern country to be labelled a Muslim I’m sure but fine…

I agree with that. But I'm only somewhat annoyed with people who start fires and damage property. On the other hand, I am extremely angry, annoyed, and heartbroken that 3 children died who were doing nothing more than attending a Taylor Swift-themed dance class.

So in terms of directing anger, why on earth are people seemingly more annoyed with the protestors than the murderer?

Notonthestairs · 02/08/2024 00:27

"So in terms of directing anger, why on earth are people seemingly more annoyed with the protestors than the murderer?"

Lazy thinking.

I can be appalled by the atrocity.

And refuse to accept that rioting is the right response.

Lentilweaver · 02/08/2024 00:27

Perhaps because the murderer is in custody while the protesters are still out burning the shops of any brown or black person they see?
