Totally disgusted by those rioting in Southport

Bex5490 · 30/07/2024 22:18

Southport has experienced the most unbelievable tragedy.

Their emergency services had to respond to probably the most traumatic calls they’ve ever had, yet tonight they are being attacked by thugs?

The latest is that these people are destroying people’s homes to get bricks with which to throw at the police.

I am heartbroken, bewildered and disgusted. How dare they destroy the homes of that grieving town.

This obsession of Russia when Chinese tik tok blithely misdirects. You're all looking in the wrong direction half the time.

LarkLane · 01/08/2024 13:19

Judge Menary said: "Continuing to prevent the full reporting has the disadvantage of allowing others to spread misinformation, in a vacuum."
He added: "Whilst I accept it is exceptional given his age, principally because he is 18 in six days time I do not make an order under section 45."

Not China’s propaganda TV station which employed Farage was it ? Not Chinese money embroiled in the Leave.EU / George Cottrell was it ? Not China which repeatedly threatens the UK with nuclear weapons is it ?

Perhaps, but what in practical terms is the difference between one source of malicious destabilising disinformation and another?

Get over yourself they're not going to shoot kids. Go read about the Charles Menendez case. Police go through hell internally if they graze the ear of anyone

Jean Charles Menezes still died though.

You sound more sorry for the police?

Crikeyalmighty · 01/08/2024 13:40

@RunningOutOfImaginitiveUsernames I don't disagree and the UK in the last few years allowed far too
Much 3rd world immigration and I'm a Labour supporter. However much of this was the Tory's doing- Brexit left vast gaps in essential services and it was always going to be the case- but they were not honest- the leave EU campaign actually posted leaflets in Urdu etc in certain communities saying it would make way for more immigration from India/pakistan/Phillipines etc . These people don't riot at murders involving white murderers -plenty to pick from - the simple fact is most of these are Reform voters who got 14% of the vote- 86% of voters didn't vote that way - so if they like democracy they need to suck it up and let the gvt do their job . 48% of voters didn't want Brexit but had to suck it up anyway and without rioting and abusing police and creating mayhem

Crikeyalmighty · 01/08/2024 13:43

Personally I think it has to be hard core- we have a democratically elected gvt who need to get on with the job. We cannot give into flag draped pissed up thugs (mainly male) - so for me it would now be tasers, tear gas, arrests - removal of any social housing and on banned list , employers informed when applicable.

We should take a hard look at Russia. The Chinese aren’t aggressive towards the U.K. and we do good business with them. What’s the merit in pointing the finger at China? They don’t hurt us or mess with this country like Russia does.

Btw I feel sorry for ordinary Russians but their state is scary. I don’t believe anyone on this thread would swap the UK for Russia

Crikeyalmighty · 01/08/2024 13:45

Oh and that applies whether they are white, black, Asian or any variation of - stop pussyfooting around with non white thugs too - cut the 'woke' aspect. It does indeed make people think there is a 2 tier system- a shithead isa shithead- regardless of colour or religion -

urbanbuddha · 01/08/2024 13:45

It was apparently Russian disinfo which originally stated the murderer in Southport was Muslim and arrived as an “illegal” immigrant.

Then amplified by Tommy Robinson and Andrew Tate.

https://inews.co.uk/news/conspiracies-pushed-andrew-tate-tommy-robinson-southport-violence-3201064?ico=editors_picks

And Farage with his "questions need to be asked, what's being withheld from us" tweet and video.

Stoking the fire

bombastix · 01/08/2024 13:51

It would be good to know, for example, if political parties take money from Russians and Russian connected companies.

A bizarre statement, The ones running around with machetes in Southend were not kids - they were adult men. And of course police have shot assailants carrying bladed weapons - as recently in January this year.

What on earth does Jean Charles de Menezes have to do with it? He was unarmed, which hardly supports your argument.

I think it would need to be broader than Russian linked. They'd just funnel the cash via the Caymans or whatever.

We could start with an unredacted Russia report though.

Sorry I'm slightly confused! I was asking the PP I quoted why having an integrated society wasn't working in their community. Others say no issues so I guess I'm asking what are the issues the PP was referring to.

I voted remain and I agree with you on this without rioting and abusing police

But this isn't about that. People are using this tragedy to push their own agenda and I genuinely want to know why some are saying that living in a multicultural community is so bad. I already understand the arguments from re. mass immigration in terms of financially (although I don't know the figures or how much this really affects people so I won;t comment on it), but WHY do some say it is awful? Genuinely trying to understand here.

Where do you live and have you ever lived in a multicultural area?

Where do you live and have you ever lived in a multicultural area?

I live in Scotland. There are different cultures/races of course but where I live is predominantly white. That's why I'm asking. Any non white families I know are lovely and just people living in our village same as everyone else, so I don't understand people's issue living in a multicultural community. I feel weird even typing that because it's giving off an 'us and them' vibe and I truly do not understand it.

If there is anyone from a different ethnic background to me I'd be really interested in your opinion.

OK. Well here were the consequences for me as a young white female whose home town was taken over by a particularly ethnic minority in the 90s/2000s:

-Street harrassment
-Being followed home
-Being groped at the bus stop
-Being groped on the Tube
-And the cherry on the cake - being molested and stalked by my GP who discovered that I was not yet sexually active from my medical records

You'd have to live under a rock to be unaware that with certain immigrant populations come with stone age attitudes to women. But that's just the tip of the iceberg. Aside from the fear of crime and sexual violence, there's that lovely feeling of complete alienation when your home turns into another country overnight.

ItsMeNotTheProblem · 01/08/2024 16:43

MN posters often tell others that when someone tells you who they are then believe them.

When somebody is chanting EDL EDL EDL at a riot, I’m gonna believe them.

Saucery · 01/08/2024 16:45

I’m truly sorry you had to experience all that @scatterolight , but that’s a Man thing, not a Particular Ethnicity thing. We shouldn’t have to put up with it, it’s true, but I experienced many of those abusive things from White men.

Perhaps if you had grown up elsewhere you would know that white men do those things too
