Totally disgusted by those rioting in Southport

1000 replies

Bex5490 · 30/07/2024 22:18

Southport has experienced the most unbelievable tragedy.

Their emergency services had to respond to probably the most traumatic calls they’ve ever had, yet tonight they are being attacked by thugs?

The latest is that these people are destroying people’s homes to get bricks with which to throw at the police.

I am heartbroken, bewildered and disgusted. How dare they destroy the homes of that grieving town.

The Independent is reporting that the boy, 17, has been charged with the murder of the three girls.

Just seen this & 10 attempted
murder, appearing at court today.

You know how all those huge Tory fans on here seemed to melt away post election- well there's a whole bunch of Reform nutters now posting on here, although trying to sound oh so sensible to start with-

Some of them are paid Rusian trolls from Putin's troll factories. They did well. Looting, rioting, dozens of cops off the streets.

The other's are useful idiots. They're more dangerous and directly responsible for the racist violence on our streets.Angry

crumblingschools · 01/08/2024 00:29

Wonder why it took them so long to charge him

urbanbuddha · 01/08/2024 00:33

They have to asses that he is fit to stand trial.

Mothlike · 01/08/2024 00:37

It really wasn’t long, given the number of separate offences and the amount of evidence to go through for each one.

Lampzade · 01/08/2024 01:53

These racists make me sick to the core. They really do.
Those poor families who have lost their children and other families who have loved ones in hospital must be distressed.
I am just hoping that the vile racists don’t harm innocent non white people.
At the time Lee Rigby was murdered dsis was living next door to a Nigerian doctor ( orthopaedic surgeon) and his wife who was a pharmacist.
The day after Lee Rigby was murdered eggs

were thrown at their home and excrement was put through their letterbox. Their ds( who was about fourteen at the time) was abused by grown men who blamed him for Lee Rigby’s murder
These evil, vile racists are just scum and we should make it clear that their behaviour is unacceptable

Exactly.
I've been concerned by the rise in far right racism like this - and also the growing sympathy towards these views. I'm hoping people will be disgusted by these events and the tide will start to turn.
Everyone was outraged by the riots in Leeds. I'm hoping for equal outrage over these riots.

It's strange to see people on MN predicting a civil war.Basically calling for the overthrow of a newly elected government. Presumably they found Jan 6th on Capitol Hill inspiring rather than terrifying.

bombastix · 01/08/2024 09:12

Yes. Absolute violence is their aim. They like the idea of racial war and it excites them. The idea is that they would be the winners instead of the losers they are.

It’s convenient that BBC is blaming it all on EDL, which hasn’t existed for a decade. I do not believe a zilch that these people on the streets are from EDL, and watching how the protest outside of Whitehall and Downing Street yesterday evolved, it looks like we are living in Soviet Union. The police arrested even those who were just standing there and not being aggressive or shouting! It’s nuts.

very quick to condemn the acts of Russia and Russian state media, but precisely the same thing happens here. Of course we don’t have state media, but it’s is interesting how BBC tries to withhold facts and publish other facts without verification( such as EDL) and how some stories are simply not being reported. For instance, the Merseyside police website shows the arrest at 6:50pm of a man with knife 300yards away from vigil (what a nutter!!) and he had balaclava with him. A couple of newspapers have published the story including the pictures of the arrest. the BBC has completely taken it out of the “timeline of riot events” as if not relevant. How’s it not relevant? Or are they pushing agenda?

The lack of movement from Starmer and colleagues also speaks volumes. Overall, the absences speak louder than anything - it looks like he is in hiding.

there’s now loads of petitions to address knife crime and calling for general election. Definitely signing those. Knife crime is out of order and I can’t believe nothing is being done about it.

we are definitely manipulated.

We had an election about 3.5 weeks ago, in case you missed it. Give them a bloody chance.

Ah. "A man with a knife sparked the riot" narrative. That says a lot.

As for the EDL, there are still activists out there. Has it occurred to you the police may have more intelligence on those activists that you are privy to?

Notonthestairs · 01/08/2024 10:28

EDL being reported across a range of news and media. Not sure why you'd single out the BBC.

Piggywaspushed · 01/08/2024 10:29

The man with the knife who was arrested was one of the rioters, according to most sources. Including the rioters themselves.

Cattenberg · 01/08/2024 10:29

Yesterday, someone was complaining on here that it had been three days since the attack and the government hadn’t introduced any new laws to tackle knife crime! Legislation can’t be introduced overnight and we don’t even know the attacker’s motives yet. Why are people so stupid!

Today I learned that 53 police officers have been injured in the rioting, eight of them seriously. Three police dogs have also been hurt.

I heard he was an EDL supporter. So it's a bit like the man who got a brick to the bollocks. Hoisted by their own petard

Interesting because you were all posting not to make assumptions but there you go, making your own …….‘ I heard’

You were calling for this thread to be deleted not that long ago, now you see to be rejoicing that there are injuries?

Notonthestairs · 01/08/2024 10:40

The man with the flick knife was reported at 6.50 and arrested 5 mins later according to the police report. Regardless who he was he wasn't an excuse to attack the police or riot.

Oh come on. Seems to be fine to post rampant speculation that the EDL were just there to have a cider and enjoy the sun until flick knife got arrested.
It's nonsense and a deflection.

Boo hoo, someone got hit by a brick that their mates were chucking at police at a riot they attended. Cry me a river.

I think its called karma??

Uricon2 · 01/08/2024 10:44

"there’s now loads of petitions to address knife crime and calling for general election. Definitely signing those."

So after 14 years of Tory rule, Labour are in power for 4 weeks and your answer to all social ills is.... a general election? Perhaps you think Reform would win this time, if so, think again.
