To splurge this much on hairdryer?

I really need a new hairdryer and the Dyson is currently available in JL for £280. My hairdresser swears it has the best diffuser he’s ever used and I do have curly hair (although I never wear it curly because it goes so frizzy)

Is the Dyson really worth it? It’s just SO much money for a hairdryer, but I would use it almost every day so…?

Wow, £280 for a hairdryer 😳 I guess if you can afford it and you know it will be used enough to justify the expense then yes you should get it if it's going to work for your hair. Though I can't even imagine spending so much on a hairdryer. But I couldn't afford it anyway 🤷

I LOVE my Dyson hairdryer despite the fact I have ethical issues with Mr Dyson himself 🙈.

I have super thick, super curly water loving hair and instead of taking 30 minutes to dry it’s now dry in less than 10.

Worth every penny.

I have curly hair that’s been between midway down my back to just below my ears and when I travel with a friend, we share hers and it’s absolutely fantastic, cuts drying time to about 1/2-1/3 and is so much lighter then others I’ve tried, the diffuser works really well for my hair and I like the different in heat settings (there actually is a difference in them rather then I find with others, either burning hot or cold)

Annoyingly there’s absolutely nothing wrong with my current hairdryer (aside from it’s not a Dyson!) to justify buying one but as soon as it breaks, I’m getting one!

InterIgnis · 23/07/2024 18:18

Do it, they’re brilliant!

Fluffywabbits · 23/07/2024 18:18

I love my Dyson too! It dries my thick hair really quickly without feeling like I'm frying my hair. My hair is in so much better condition since switching to it.

DidYerAye · 23/07/2024 18:20

I got a slightly cheaper reconditioned one from the Dyson eBay shop and it's really, really good for my curly hair. The diffuser is fantastic. If you can combine it with an eBay discount offer on electricals or something...

I have that hair........

It's now on my Christmas list

CreativeOriginalUsername · 23/07/2024 18:23

I have one.

DD swears by it. She has thick, wavy hair.

I have long, medium thickness hair and I think it’s no different to any other hair dryer. If anything it cuts out more often and I prefer the £20 cheap one I have!

Dbank · 23/07/2024 18:24

My wife loves hers, and so do I as it's super quiet.

Dreamskies · 23/07/2024 18:25

I enjoy the comb attachment, and it’s nice and powerful with good temp and power controls

Theyweretheworstoftimes · 23/07/2024 18:31

It's a game changer.

earlymorningcurlewcall · 23/07/2024 18:32

I love my Dyson hairdryer. My hair is naturally poker straight but I love it all the same 😆

Apolloneuro · 23/07/2024 18:52

My hairdresser told me that they are only really worth it if you have thick, takes ages to dry hair.

I have and I’ve got one and it is good. Anyone who can dry their hair in a few minutes anyway wouldn’t really be worth it.

anotherHappymonday · 23/07/2024 18:57

I love mine. I’ve had it 5 years and it’s still going strong, it’s expensive but I see it as an investment in myself (my hair is in better condition since using it, plus the time saved) and when you consider it lasts 5 years+, the cost per year / per use is reasonable.

Beautiful3 · 23/07/2024 18:57

Yes I have one. They're brilliant!

boredybored · 23/07/2024 19:05

I have it , it's brilliant ! I can easily afford it though so don't have an opinion on if it's worth the money .

Kevinisnotacatname · 23/07/2024 19:30

I'd get a Diva or Parlux over a Dyson any time

HippyKayYay · 23/07/2024 19:36

I’m on a really helpful wavy hair Facebook group and the consensus there is that the Dyson is too blowy. People seem to rate the curlsmith and bellissima diffon supreme - but that’s in terms of just diffusing and using less heat. So ignore this if you’re planning to continue straightening your waves

Do you buy the diffuser separately?

Whyhaveibeencutoutofmamsnot · 23/07/2024 19:37

Shouldn't we be boycotting Dyson over the way he has treated his staff recently -

IHopeYouStepOnALegPiece · 23/07/2024 19:39

Bluebirdover · 23/07/2024 19:36

Do you buy the diffuser separately?

No it comes with it

Bluebirdover · 23/07/2024 19:43

@IHopeYouStepOnALegPiece thank you

Bunchymcbunchface · 23/07/2024 19:48

I love mine too

ohthejoys21 · 23/07/2024 19:51

Dubs on is crap. Fine at first but then does downhill. What I can recommend though is the Dyson Air Wrap... for me the Parllux wins every time.
