To splurge this much on hairdryer?

I really need a new hairdryer and the Dyson is currently available in JL for £280. My hairdresser swears it has the best diffuser he’s ever used and I do have curly hair (although I never wear it curly because it goes so frizzy)

Is the Dyson really worth it? It’s just SO much money for a hairdryer, but I would use it almost every day so…?

I have the Dyson and a GHD hairdryer, it wasn’t intended to have the GHD one too, but if I’d have known how powerful it was, I’d have got this instead of the Dyson.

Yes they are amazing

My DD has one as she has very long, thick hair. She loves hers but when we were on holiday together recently, she borrowed my Diva and was really impressed with it. It’s a lot cheaper.

AuntieMarys · 06/08/2024 08:08

I prefer my Parlux even though it's heavier

Namechanger385u4p · 06/08/2024 08:38

I like my parlux but prefer the airwrap. The Palux has a lot stronger air coming out tho which might be better for curls....

Kebarbra · 06/08/2024 08:39

The GHD air is brilliant, still quite pricey at around £100 but the best I've ever used and very good quality. Diffuser attachment works brilliantly.

Wingingit247 · 06/08/2024 09:20

Do it, it’s expensive but one of the best things I own. Dries hair much faster than other hairdryer I’ve ever owned, including the ones at the posh salon with an experienced hairdresser wielding it. Hair is also in better condition/shinier using it. It’s a fab bit of kit.

Girl Math = £280 divided by 365 days= £0.77. Buy the hairdryer, it only costs under £1 a day!

On another note- has anyone tried the 20 quid dupe??

I posted the link to the cheaper hairdryer. But I have to say I have never tried the Dyson.

I moved from a traditional old hairdryer to the £20 pound one and cut my hairdrying time down by about half. The diffuser is incredible! No flyaway at all.

Jk987 · 06/08/2024 12:00

There's some Dyson hairdryers on Vinted for less than half that price!

Bengalstripeycat · 06/08/2024 12:48

Buy it, guarantee you won’t regret it, the JL price sounds good. I’ve had mine for over three years, it’s a game changer for thick, wavy hair, really cuts drying time. I usually only use the big round brush attachment, super smooth results and doesn’t overheat the hair. I like mine so much I purchased a second hand one from Vinted fir holiday home.

mothsandgoths · 06/08/2024 12:50

I bought one when they first came
Out. It's eight years old now and still works perfectly. So I'm happy

PerkySnail · 06/08/2024 23:51

It's 199.99 at Boots!

If you can afford it, get it

Jayne35 · 07/08/2024 18:15

I have very thick, curly hair with fairly tight ringlet type curls. The Dyson is very good at drying my hair straighter, so only needs a quick going over with straighteners. I have had mine 4 years.

Sararsam · 18/08/2024 20:23

My Dyson is brilliant. I have fine hair and it curls, gives volume and has improved the condition and shine. 2 + years now.
