The Weed. The Constant Weed!

So I live in a densely populated area and ffs. There are so many things that grind my gears. But one of the worst is that everyone - and I mean EVERYONE - smokes muthafucking weed. It stinks! I hate it! It’s all I can smell from dawn until dusk and worse in summer when the windows have to be open!

It’s not even like I get a passive chill out from the smell, ffs. I loathe it.

Move??

ConstantlyFuriosa · 23/07/2024 06:18

Move? Yeah, cos that’s just like SO easy. Even better, why don’t I move to the country? Because that’s even easier.

The smell is revolting and its everywhere. Horrific thing is that its often smelled as cars pass! Far worse than fag smoke in my opinion. I was in a small supermarket yesterday and a young lad came in with his girlfriend. Stench was unbelievable so why anyone would willingly walk around like that is beyond me

pinacollateral · 23/07/2024 06:19

I agree OP it's disgusting but there's not much you can do about it. The police don't care. It's a complete joke that it's meant to be illegal.

kitchendiscotime · 23/07/2024 06:29

I hate this too and it's one of the reasons I left London. It's absolutely everywhere.

Now I live in a large town and I smell weed maybe once a month instead of every single day. We do still get the clouds of strawberry vape though.

LittleBitAlexisLaLaLaLaLa · 23/07/2024 06:29

I’m very much a live and let live type of person but fucking hell, the smell is everywhere and I don’t love it. I mostly like where I live but if I could wish for one thing to change it would be I don’t have to smell weed anymore.

And no, it’s not bloody easy to just move. Even if you did move, odds are you’d smell it loads wherever you moved too.

crazyBadger · 23/07/2024 06:32

Right there with you...

Both neighbours smoke weed, one grows it stinks, clings to fabric hard to get rid off..

Absolutely hate that my whole house smells... It's so noticeable visitors comment on it.

UpThereForThinkingDownThereForDancing · 23/07/2024 06:34

My heart goes out to you op.
I'm not in an area with that, but I do visit them for work and everytime I feel for anyone living there who is affected by it. So anti social, such a horrible smell and you can't ignore it!
I think I'd rather live next to slurry - that also stinks but at least it's the smell of honest to goodness poop that will do the soil good when it's gets spread about.
Not only does weed stink but it tells you a lot about your neighbours which doesn't make you feel like you are in a good community.
Depressing.
I wish you had things differently op.

UpThereForThinkingDownThereForDancing · 23/07/2024 06:36

My sister's neighbour was using upstairs to grow it... The smell used to seep through the adjoining wall, so my nieces bedroom stunk of weed 24/7 ...365.
She was 6. 😭
Luckily that did eventually get raided by the police but it went on for well over a year before there was a change.

Uggh nice bit of morning racism.

Uggh nice bit of morning racism.

Seriously?!

You think that’s racism?

What if I said I’m mixed race, I love all races etc, but I also 100% agree with this description as I’ve seen similar myself on my suburban Surrey high st?

Don’t confuse race or skin colour with the aggressive importation of a culture and casual disregard for the law (due to a total lack of enforcement).

Longsight2019 · 23/07/2024 06:58

I was watching my son play football (ages 8-11) and some toking parent was sitting in their car smoking it. People were turning around to see if they could tell where it was coming from.

Absolutely disgusting and stinking habit, sadly appearing normalised in many communities.

JMSA · 23/07/2024 07:03

It seems to be massively on the rise. I've had 13 year olds coming into school stinking of the stuff Sad
When I was young, it had the reputation of being used by old hippies. That is no longer the case.

Lilyhatesjaz · 23/07/2024 07:07

My town centre stinks of it too, it is disgusting.

NippyCrab · 23/07/2024 07:13

It's absolutely rotten! I have a neighbour 2 doors down who smoke it and it's vile, it's grass they smoke rather than solid and its pungent. Our houses are quite far apart so I really sympathise with their NDN. Direct next door to me smokes cigs, three of them out every half hour puffing away and it fills my house. Gross.

Meadowwild · 23/07/2024 07:18

I agree OP. I hate the stuff. The smell makes me gag. And it's so often smoked around our way by earnest vegan types who care about the planet. I want to say to them - you know that was probably grown by some child tricked into modern slavery, stuck without a passport in some shithole of a deserted house or industrial unit, having crappy garage food posted through the door once a day by his gangers. But keep pretending it's no different from wine.

Bloody hell. That makes me sad. If the parent was slurping from a hip flask, someone would report it.

BarrelOfOtters · 23/07/2024 07:26

Yes. I hate the smell too. It is really noticeable when I'm in London visiting.

It's not so bad where I live but grown up DSS smokes it and you can smell it on his clothes....

orangeleopard · 23/07/2024 07:30

I’m very much a person that thinks do what you want to do, as long as it doesn’t harm someone else. But when you smell weed wherever you go, it does ‘harm’ other people. I live in a small block of flats on a ‘posh’ estate. One of my neighbours is so obviously a weed dealer, although he doesn’t bother anyone - he is constantly up and down slamming the door of the block at all hours of the day and night. With that, he brings the smell of weed that trails with him. This often means as soon as you walk into the block you get a stench of it, and unfortunately the smell has actually stretched to consuming the hallway of my own home. I don’t smoke or consume drugs, so why should my own home smell of it.

people assume that people who smoke are hippie dippie, easy going people who just smoke to be free. When the reality is that almost every person I know of that smokes are the most selfish, self centred people I have ever met. They don’t care that their smoking affects other people, as long as it doesn’t affect themselves. If you have ever tried to communicate with someone that smokes weed about their smoking, they will defend it and fall out with you because of it. This is why when people act as if weed is less of a drug, I will never understand it - because their addiction, habit and attitudes towards the drug is not any less than if it was something harder.

Ginmonkeyagain · 23/07/2024 07:34

I hear you. I am very relaxed about soft drugs and appreciate the case for legalisation. But I was in New York and Boston earlier this year where weed is now legally sold and good god the stench is everywhere. It's awful.

gardenmusic · 23/07/2024 07:38

Came on to get some advice on my dandelion lawn. We are in a sea of them this year.

MrsBobtonTrent · 23/07/2024 07:39

Leave the dandelions. Good for the bees and the leaves are good in salad.

Weed smokers can fuck right off though.

OhmygodDont · 23/07/2024 07:40

Total agree with a PP who said that a lot of the time walking down the street a car goes by then boom weed. Could you imagine seeing a car go buy with the driver clearly and obviously say drinking and it being so “normal”.

It stinks I’d rather walk behind a normal smoker at this point it’s ridiculous that’s it’s even illegal if the police never do anything about it either. Legalise it tax it, soon it will be harder to buy fags then weed. Tbh probably already is, those underage smokers can get weed much easier. A friend not anymore told me their snow comes in a Uber faster than a pizza from dominoes 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

eggplant16 · 23/07/2024 07:40

Its a horrible sickly smell. There are lots of horrible smells. Is it the smell that offends of what it is and what its doing?
A family member got caught up in this stuff and it isn't a good situation.
