To feel like this about the fucking weather?

I feel like we’ve had about six days of sun since last October. I am so fucking fed up of it. The nights are already drawing in again!! No money to go abroad so that’s out of the question. I just want to have the doors open, flip flops on, to dry clothes outdoors. I honestly feel it’s making me depressed with constant grey skies.

Agree. I wish there was someone we could complain to. I find this weather unacceptable.

Labtastic · 10/07/2024 21:02

I find it hard to believe anyone would disagree with this! Totally with you - my mood is definitely sub par. I need sun!

HollyGolightly4 · 10/07/2024 21:03

It's so miserable, it's definitely bringing my mood down!

I am one of those people who are on the ‘it’s too hot’ threads quite regularly…I absolutely wither when it’s too hot but even I am getting absolutely fed up of this too. Like you say, no washing on the line, patio doors constantly shut.

You have my sympathies.

A1ia · 10/07/2024 21:04

We had to cancel sports day today due to the rain and the school field being a mud bath. I also had to pop out to our forest school area; the young children were in full on puddle suits, some with hats and gloves. It definitely feels like it should be October, maybe even November, rather than July.

ClaribelLowLieth · 10/07/2024 21:05

It's St Swithin's Day on Monday . . . and it looks like its going to be dry and maybe sunny!!

I love winter and cold, dark weather too...in WINTER! And all we have to look forward to is a sodding UK holiday in presumably yet more rain. I am very close to a proper foot stamping.

Mystro202 · 10/07/2024 21:06

I can see why people emigrate to warmer climates. It's so depressing!

Tanfastic · 10/07/2024 21:06

Same, in the Lake District on "holiday" and it's fucking pissing down non stop. I've worked all year for this shit 🙈🤬.

Not round here it isn't.
It was supposed to be improving from this weekend but our forecast now says rain for at least the next 10 days but a bit warmer so that means it's just going to be damp and muggy😖😖🥴

WickWood · 10/07/2024 21:09

@Labtastic I'm pregnant and would definitely disagree with this 🤣

pizzaHeart · 10/07/2024 21:09

I’m not demanding 28 degree at this point just to Stop the f* rain!!!

Normalinnit · 10/07/2024 21:14

I’m actually quite enjoying the weather
for lots of reasons that suit my medical circumstances, BUT… I realise how lucky I am and can see how thoroughly miserable it must be for those that feel robbed of a normal summer. It has been very wet and cold.

AngeloMysterioso · 10/07/2024 21:18

I’m glad that we got lovely warm sunshine for Glastonbury, but it’s chucked it down every day since and I need to air my tent out before I pack it away. Not happy.

HungryLittleCrocodile · 10/07/2024 21:18

Yes, I absolutely agree! It feels like it's just been Autumn, Spring, and then Autumn again for the past 12 months now. Didn't even have a proper, really good winter with loads of snow.

I get sick to death of the threads saying, 'oh, I absolutely love this really cold dank, rainy, chilly, weather! So cosy. So snuggly. Hot chocolate, snuggles, cuddles on the sofa, hugs, hugs, hugs, jumpers, puddles, cosy nights in!' Hmm Does my friggin' head in. Yes, it's fine between mid October and mid February! But not in July. Get a grip.

We need a really nice, long, hot spell all the way from the beginning of the school summer holidays, (24-29 degrees C!) right through to the end of September. An eight to nine week chunk of long hot summer! 😎

As you say, the nights are already drawing in, and also, the shops (that I went to today) are selling off summer stock with 30-50% off! ALSO, I could see (in B & M today in the stockroom that they had the door open to,) the Christmas stuff being brought to the front of the stockroom! Shock No doubt that will be out in the shop in about 3 weeks.

VolvoFan · 10/07/2024 21:21

I agree. Probably the worst 'summer' in a long time. 'Climate change' my arse. Has anyone noticed it's also frequently windy? I don't ever recall having this many windy days before 2019. I bloody hate it.

whatweather · 10/07/2024 21:22

@VolvoFan yes also very very windy all the time!

this is the first time I’ve genuinely understood why people move for better weather. It’s so depressing

OP posts:
devildeepbluesea · 10/07/2024 21:24

Totally agree. I did book a week in Gran Canaria almost as a direct reaction to the last storm, and quite honestly it’ll leave me in hock til Christmas. But I don’t care.

FrogFreg · 10/07/2024 21:25

Agreed. I’ve always been really affected by the weather, but usually a reasonably good summer gives me just about enough to get through the miserable months of December - March.

But this year, Christ. I am absolutely ready to move 😂

SOxon · 10/07/2024 21:26

we are moving our big bed around this weekend, to an inside wall, as when the wind and rain hits the house I feel cold, convinced the outside wall is soaking up the rain.
Im seriously considering putting the electric blanket back on the bed and reinstating the 13.5 duvet we put away for the ‘summer’
The bedroom temp monitor says 21.5 degrees although Im not warm at all, in fact
my feet and knees are v cold and Ive found warmer socks.
Im taking D.3 every week day bit it isnt as good as feeling warm sun on my face.

Scorpionghost · 10/07/2024 21:28

Tbh I’d rather this than the 40 degree heat we had 2 years ago.

Yes - but it's marginal

LaurieFairyCake · 10/07/2024 21:29

Yeah, it suits me

It's so beautifully green out there still, usually it's all brown and plants die by now

It's so lush out there

Not me. Give me the sun any time.
