To feel like this about the fucking weather?

I feel like we’ve had about six days of sun since last October. I am so fucking fed up of it. The nights are already drawing in again!! No money to go abroad so that’s out of the question. I just want to have the doors open, flip flops on, to dry clothes outdoors. I honestly feel it’s making me depressed with constant grey skies.

This isn't climate change. Yet.

It's El Nino and it's a fucking pita. Loads of things cancelled, slugs eating all my fucking plants. And to top it off really bad hay fever.

More fool me for voting Starmer for change.

Of course it's partly climate change! It's here, right now

Yes, I absolutely agree! It feels like it's just been Autumn, Spring, and then Autumn again for the past 12 months now. Didn't even have a proper, really good winter with loads of snow.

I get sick to death of the threads saying, 'oh, I absolutely love this really cold dank, rainy, chilly, weather! So cosy. So snuggly. Hot chocolate, snuggles, cuddles on the sofa, hugs, hugs, hugs, jumpers, puddles, cosy nights in!' Hmm Does my friggin' head in. Yes, it's fine between mid October and mid February! But not in July. Get a grip.

We need a really nice, long, hot spell all the way from the beginning of the school summer holidays, (24-29 degrees C!) right through to the end of September. An eight to nine week chunk of long hot summer! 😎

As you say, the nights are already drawing in, and also, the shops (that I went to today) are selling off summer stock with 30-50% off! ALSO, I could see (in B & M today in the stockroom that they had the door open to,) the Christmas stuff being brought to the front of the stockroom! Shock No doubt that will be out in the shop in about 3 weeks.

Edited

Went to Asda mid day today and there were racks of summer clothing being brought out and heavily reduced… Sooo much stuff unsold!
The nights are def. drawing in and I’ve been so cold this evening that I’m under the fluffy blankets again and side-eying the hot water bottle🥶🥶.

I would love a couple of warm and DRY weeks to sort out the outside jobs, wash the coats for the winter, just catch up generally, it so depressing being so bloody wet and cold all the time!

This is climate change, get used to it, and brace yourself because it's going to be a wet and very windy autumn.

The oceans are too warm.

Oh and you know that do you? That's it's going to be a very wet and windy Autumn? Have you got a crystal ball?!

AND if it's 'climate change' causing the low temperatures for July, and the grim skies and the rain and winds etc, and giving the UK a shitty summer, then how come every other country is having a glorious summer?! Hmm

Is it just the UK that has climate change? 🙄

I keep saying to people all the time, the poor farmers 😞. We appreciate what you do so much 💖

Absolutely.

Ehrm, I’m in northern Europe and it’s the same in my country and every surrounding country. Get out of under your rock.

I know right! These sort of things are sold in 'end of summer sales' like very late August/early September. Not EARLY JULY!

I think everyone has almost given up on the UK having a decent summer in 2024 now.

Oh come on, temperatures are rising rapidly all over the globe, it will manifest itself in more and more extreme ways. Of course not everywhere is having a 'glorious' summer, every year the wild fires get worse in Southern Europe, Canada, America, Australia - do you really not believe this is climate change? Floods, fires, it's really quite frightening and will absolutely continue getting worse.

Meadowlands · 10/07/2024 22:52

I agree it's gone on and on this year.
But if I had to choose, I'd still choose this over the heatstroke, drought and wildfires that the people in many parts of the world -including now parts of Europe - are enduring.

Are other countries having a glorious summer though, or are they having extreme heat ( with all the problems that brings). The point is, extremes of weather, whatever the weather, and ‘stuck’ patterns are all driven by climate change. We don’t need a crystal ball for that, the scientific evidence is overwhelming.

Birdingbear · 10/07/2024 22:53

I'm a winter/autumn person and absolutely loathe spring and summer months. Absolutely love rain and windy days....so this has been perfect. My moods are high on these days but go really low on hot sunny days.

There's a simple explanation to the weather tho. This happens every 4 years and....Will last a couple of years before it changes

Livelovebehappy · 10/07/2024 22:54

Tbh, just back from a week in Corfu and I was actually glad to be back to the UK weather. Temps in the 30’s, and it drains you so much that it’s an effort just to walk from the lounger to the bar. When I think about it, I’d rather have our weather than live in temps of 30 plus. It’s debilitating.

Allthehorsesintheworld · 10/07/2024 22:54

Flowering plants are battered. Veg in the garden have given up growing. Even the greenhouse tomatoes are skimpy this year, probably a quarter of the quantity I usually get.

And not sure how true it is about Rowan tree berries predicting a harsh winter but I was saw one laden today, in July. They used to get berries in September, then started seeing them in August, now early July.

No it won't, see above re climate change

No fucking pumpkin spiced latte is ever going to make up for it come Autumn.

Lol. The first fucking dullard I hear gashing on about curling one off on the sofa and toasting their throws will get a hot chocolate in their fucking ear.

Irritating as feck aren't they? (The 'big jumper, snuggles, pumpkin spice latte, cuddles on the sofa, snuggles in front of the fire, puddles, rain, sleet, cosy cosy cosy' bores.) NO-ONE wants that in summer you winter-bores! Hmm

So what is the cause? Climate change? El Niño? Both?

Fuck me! Imagine trying to score political points on a thread about the weather. How pathetic. And you do know @GordonBlue do you not, that Starmer has been in power for FIVE DAYS! 😂

I agree with @loststoryteller what a stupid post!

Tbh I’d rather this than the 40 degree heat we had 2 years ago.

But that only lasted a couple of weeks!

The amount of rain this year, all year, has been crazy. Probably be told on weather app that we've actually had less than normal or something, though

Notaflippinclue · 10/07/2024 22:58

Look on the bright side - no hosepipe ban, my pond has never been so full ........ but I can't think of any more!
