I’m 5 ft 3. Hair as long as models so back is typically covered. Worn with flat nude sandals so very casual.

I've seen mum's doing the pick up in pyjamas and dressing gowns before now 🤣🤣

There is an Infants, a nursery and a primary all within 5 minutes or so from my house so I see all sorts of outfits worn by parents on the way to drop off and pick up. I have noticed onesies and pyjamas topped off with a fleece. I was always wearing whatever I had on to go to work in and never gave it a second thought

CaptainMyCaptain · 03/07/2024 16:39

Better than the parent who picked up a child wearing white leggings and no pants - true story.

Riversideandrelax · 03/07/2024 16:39

It's completely fine. What on earth was your DH thinking with commenting on it? Is he usually controlling about what you wear?

The dress is lovely, by the way.

My mum wore micro minis in the 1960s

Me too. The comments you would get, though, 'That's not a skirt, it's a belt. '
Actually those times could be bad for blokes too. 'Is it a boy or a girl?' was a very common question. '

You'd get a few funny looks if you wore it to a catholic school but other schools should be ok.

My DD goes to a Catholic school. This wouldn't get a funny look at all. Just because it's a Catholic school doesn't mean all the parents are shallow and judgemental!

DGPP · 03/07/2024 16:45

Actually the mums on our school run are half and half stylish and old fashioned. This would be fine though

Viviennemary · 03/07/2024 16:46

Not suitable. It looks ridiculous.

I have voted YABU because you’ve started a thread about what to wear on the school run. You are overthinking it. It is not a catwalk. Wear clothes.

Did you actually read the OP's post? She just put on some clothes. Her dh challenged what she was wearing. OP, you have a dh problem, not a wardrobe problem.

yup, if he doesn't like your school pickup choices, he can do the pick ups and drop offs himself. All of them

Do you not ever take a day off?

Depends on whether you've got small children you'd be bending over to speak to/pick up/strap into a car seat, really - as that is going to show everybody behind what underwear you've got on and with the car seat, whether you're up to date on waxing appointments.

You sound like a perv. Please tell me you are not female, that would be embarrassing for us all.

I didn't realise there was a dress code for school pick ups

😂

NasiDagang · 03/07/2024 17:07

I don't think OP lives in UK. We haven't got 26 degrees in temperature, absolutely freezing at the moment.

Might have happened last week, it was 27 degrees where I am.

GG1986 · 03/07/2024 17:59

Yes it's fine. I saw a mum in hot pants and a crop top the other week!

PaintMeARiver · 03/07/2024 18:12

Fine as long as you don't have big boobs.

Itsallsostressful · 03/07/2024 18:20

Cute dress nothing wrong with it 😊

Mylifesadrama · 04/07/2024 17:39

As long as you’re not exposing yourself or wearing something with offensive language on it, it’s no one else business what you wear to school pick up. Although a bikini may raise a few eyebrows! 🤣

No you wouldn't!

Mwanamatapa · 04/07/2024 18:29

Depends how old you are. If you're in your teens or early 20s, it's just fine. Older may not be appropriate.
But to each his own.

FateReset · 04/07/2024 18:31

It's a nice dress but would look rather over-dressed/attention seeking on the school run, unless you're heading straight out to an event.

moonshinepoursthroughmywindow · 04/07/2024 18:32

I've never heard that there are any rules for what to wear to collect children from school. As far as I'm concerned, if you can wear it in the street or in the supermarket, you can wear it at the school gates. This dress doesn't seem remotely inappropriate to me.

NeedToChangeName · 04/07/2024 18:33

I wouldn't wear that for school pick up, TBH

Pickingmyselfup · 04/07/2024 18:47

Nothing wrong with it. I turn up to school in all manner of things, gym wear, shorts, crop tops, playsuit, tracksuit bottoms, dresses. It's all weather dependent mainly and also what I'm doing either straight after drop up or right before pick up.

I draw the line at pyjamas or being naked but otherwise I wear what I like. I'm also 38 soon and would happily wear that dress if I liked the way it looked on me.

Beezknees · 04/07/2024 18:50

Why on earth would it be inappropriate? I used to wear shorts to pick up on hot days.
