I’m 5 ft 3. Hair as long as models so back is typically covered. Worn with flat nude sandals so very casual.

There are mums in the next street to me picking up in pyjamas and slippers. You'd look posh here

Trinity65 · 03/07/2024 14:21

LOL

Nothing wrong with it OP, at all.

kickerconspiracy · 03/07/2024 14:22

It’s perfectly fine. I don’t know what your dh and friend are talking about.

unospaghetto · 03/07/2024 14:24

Did you wear it back to front?

I think it probably depends on the fit. It’s a perfectly fine casual dress for a hot day. It could fit quite short though (I realise you say 5’3 but it’s hard to know really how well it would fit from a random photo). The back is fine, but I wouldn’t want to see anyone’s bum cheeks.

I do think a lot depends on fit. A dress that looks great on a model looks borderline unacceptable on me because of big boobs. The number of arse cheeks on display in the recent weather is quite something.

But at 5' 3" with long hair, I can't imagine you are showing very much. And even if you are, it's your choice, not your DH's.

spikeandbuffy · 03/07/2024 14:27

It's fine
I would wear that to the supermarket/shops etc so to me anything you would wear in the supermarket is fine for school pick up

BaronessBomburst · 03/07/2024 14:28

On a hot day I'd expect to see bikini tops with hot pants or a short wrap skirt. Or maybe even just a shirt over a bikini. No one cares. Nipples and bottoms are covered.

FallingAngelRisingApe · 03/07/2024 14:29

Boring dress is boring.

kickerconspiracy · 03/07/2024 14:30

If they were they’d probably be less shocked. Maybe they would be surprised at the back on show but it was the age of mini skirts. I was looking through my mil’s photo albums once and I have never seen so much legs! Even her sister who became a nun not long after had a mini skirt on.

You'd get a few funny looks if you wore it to a catholic school but other schools should be ok.

Not true
My kids attended a Catholic primary school
and mini dresses, leggings and shorts were worn by many at pickup

purplecorkheart · 03/07/2024 14:32

It looks fine to me. I am not sure what your husband and friends are thinking about. It does not need a jacket.

My mum wore micro minis in the 1960s

MiddleagedBeachbum · 03/07/2024 14:34

It’s lovely.
however I do agree that British people especially have fucked up views on backless = braless - the shock horror of a woman out in public not wearing a bra 🙄
go for it!

merrymelodies · 03/07/2024 14:34

Smacks of jealousy. Wear it, enjoy it and ignore the comments.

You wouldn't from the catholic school I went🤔

The dress is absolutely fine op

Coffeerum · 03/07/2024 14:36

What was the comment from DH that pushed you into such a frenzy to google the dress, ask multiple friends and post here? Sounds like the problem is your controlling husband not your outfit.

Alittlebitwary · 03/07/2024 14:36

Yes it's fine. Why?

greenpolarbear · 03/07/2024 14:37

Collard · 03/07/2024 13:51

Comment from dh. Showed friends said dress. And someone said they would have thrown on a jacket.

Didn’t realise this was Saudi Arabia

I mean I'd probably say that if it was hot sunny weather and I was worried about your back burning. Hurts like hell.

Otherwise, no.

JaneGrint · 03/07/2024 14:38

Looks fine to me.

Theres all sorts gets worn by the parents at my DC’s school. Including outfits that are far skimpier and far more casual than that dress.

maw1681 · 03/07/2024 14:40

Totally fine!

SatinHeart · 03/07/2024 14:44

The dress looks fine OP. Round my way it's very common to wear those leggings that go right up your bum crack. Sometimes flesh coloured as well... 😬

Tlolljs · 03/07/2024 14:47

I wish it was warm enough to wear that here. Raining again!

Pumpkins89 · 03/07/2024 14:48

It’s fine. Wear what you like!

bergamotorange · 03/07/2024 14:48

Your husband sounds controlling - is this the first time he has made this sort of remark?

Balloonhearts · 03/07/2024 14:48

If your bum, tits and genitals aren't on show I can't see why anyone would care.
