I’m 5 ft 3. Hair as long as models so back is typically covered. Worn with flat nude sandals so very casual.

Comment from dh. Showed friends said dress. And someone said they would have thrown on a jacket.

Didn’t realise this was Saudi Arabia

If you were chilly, then yes, you should have thrown a jacket. If not, what the hell?

Like pretty much every other mum in my kids school, I have worn anything from shorts + vest, I have worn tulle skirt and tshirts, suits, tracksuit bottoms, maxi dresses, mini skirts... and not one person actually gave a shiny shit about what I (or the others) wore that day 😂

2dogsandabudgie · 03/07/2024 15:37

I saw a mum wearing a swimming costume with leggings and no one said anything.

QuackQuackComeBack · 03/07/2024 15:38

I have voted YABU because you’ve started a thread about what to wear on the school run. You are overthinking it. It is not a catwalk. Wear clothes.

pontipinemum · 03/07/2024 15:45

As long as I can't see your arse cheeks I'm happy. In general it looks fine. The model is probably 5'10 most women are a lot shorter than that, so it's probably a lot longer on you/ me

the OP is not overthinking, she was on the receiving end of unpleasant comments. It's people who commented who are BU.

Allthehorsesintheworld · 03/07/2024 15:50

Buy a little 1950s style hat with a bit of net on it. Perch it on your head and ask DH if it’s suitable now.
Honestly, who looks at what any parent/ grandparent/ carer wears to school pick up.

BotterMon · 03/07/2024 15:51

Well if it's 26 degrees you're not in England so guess it depends on where you live.

Here it wouldn't be an issue. Far smarter than some of the PJ's and other sloppy shite I've seen people wearing on way to work driving past some local schools (near work not home!)

Did you actually read the OP's post? She just put on some clothes. Her dh challenged what she was wearing. OP, you have a dh problem, not a wardrobe problem.

LOL
Are the commenters in your real life from the 1960s

Nothing wrong with it OP, at all.

You do realise we wore mini-skirts (and I mean mini) in the 60s?

YABU for not reading op’s thread properly.

CollyBobble · 03/07/2024 15:58

It's fine as long as you're slim.

Lovehaterelationshipwiththeschoolholidays · 03/07/2024 16:00

Where is it from please? Really like it

That was my first thought too Grin

HouseRoadhouse · 03/07/2024 13:51

Yes, it's fine. We have a mum who is about 40yo (same as I am), really tall who frequently wears booty shorts and a crop top to pick up. Nobody cares 🤷‍♀️

You obviously care, seeing as you have made a note of what she wears 🤣.

InTheRainOnATrain · 03/07/2024 16:19

It’s a nice dress. The only issue I could think of is if it’s unlined and therefore see through from the back when the sun hits it?

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 03/07/2024 16:21

ByCupidStunt · 03/07/2024 14:09

You'd get a few funny looks if you wore it to a catholic school but other schools should be ok.

My kids go to catholic school and I’ve never heard a peep from anyone about what anyone wears.

Theres nothing in the Catholic religion about what people should wear, if that helps.

If it matters, I really like the dress! Wouldn’t suit me but I like it.

Hobbesmanc · 03/07/2024 16:22

Honestly. It's one of those attention seeking posts. Of course there's nothing wrong with that look. No one is going to say otherwise. But hey here's validation and social media hits op. 😘

Iaskedyouthrice · 03/07/2024 16:24

I love the dress. Perfect for warm weather with some nice flip-flops or sandals. I'd put my hair up too to show off the back!

On an anonymous forum, with 0 idea of what the OP looks like, how heavy or skinny she might be, HOW is that attention seeking exactly 😂

Your post on the other hand tells us a lot about you

RampantIvy · 03/07/2024 16:27

Where is it 26 degrees in the UK today?
(Jealous)

LookAtThatCritter · 03/07/2024 16:30

Looks more appropriate than the pyjamas I see half the parents wearing 😂

CloudywMeatballs · 03/07/2024 16:33

I voted YABU to even give this any thought!

Do you pick up on foot? No one ever saw anything I was wearing to pick my kids up from school because I drove (schools too far away to walk). But even if I had been walking so people could see, as long as it wasn't anything indecent I wouldn't care what anyone thought about what I might be wearing!

NeverDropYourMooncup · 03/07/2024 16:34

Depends on whether you've got small children you'd be bending over to speak to/pick up/strap into a car seat, really - as that is going to show everybody behind what underwear you've got on and with the car seat, whether you're up to date on waxing appointments.

tennesseewhiskey1 · 03/07/2024 16:36

wtf? of course its ok to wear?
