I’m 5 ft 3. Hair as long as models so back is typically covered. Worn with flat nude sandals so very casual.

Perfectly fine. I can’t imagine why anyone would have a problem with it, assuming you’re in UK, US, AU, mainland Europe or anywhere like that. As you said yourself, not Saudi!

ISeriouslyDoubtIt · 03/07/2024 14:53

Have you got enormous boobs that were jiggling everywhere because it's a braless dress, and you were picking up your teenage son and a load of his friends? If so, maybe a bit inappropriate, otherwise perfectly fine.

Comment from dh. Showed friends said dress. And someone said they would have thrown on a jacket.

Didn’t realise this was Saudi Arabia

I'm confused. Who said they would have thrown on a jacket, your DH or your friend? Or his friend? Male or female?

ATribeCalledQuestion · 03/07/2024 14:56

It's gorgeous! Where's it from?

And of course it's fine for the school run!!

Edited

And why would ANYONE suggest a jacket at 26 degrees! Nothing wrong with that dress as is!

Clarinet1 · 03/07/2024 14:57

Why on earth not?!

Did you wear it back to front?

I thought that, maybe try it and see what DH thinks. 🙂

Jutemat · 03/07/2024 14:59

Who cares? The school dads?

TeaAndSmithwicks · 03/07/2024 15:12

I think it's lovely. Where did you get it?

Dress looks great to me 🤷‍♀️
Jealous it's 26°C where you are!

MassiveOvaryaction · 03/07/2024 15:17

I think it might be a bit odd to specifically choose it for the school run (but my brain is mush today so I can't really articulate why), but if you were going somewhere before/after then yep it's grand.

AllTheChaos · 03/07/2024 15:19

My take is that if bum and boobs are covered, you’re all good.

Gettingannoyednow · 03/07/2024 15:21

It's not like it's got CUNT printed across it. Is this the first time your dh has been a bit controlling?

icclemunchy · 03/07/2024 15:21

The only time I looked twice at what someone was wearing on the school run was when someone turned up up in a pair of those fluffy mule style slippers, and that was mostly because I was in awe that she ran in them!

BouquetGarni224 · 03/07/2024 15:21

There's nothing wrong with it. It's a summer dress for a summer day.

It's not even a revealing summer dress.

Our (relatively posh) school run is populated by skin tight yoga pants with lots of buttocks etc on show.
On a couple of occasions a young woman I thought was a child's Mum but turns out is her older sister (big age gap) did the school run in a crop top and skin tight short shorts that were like big knickers.

I really wouldn't think anything of a nearly knee length dress with presumably not a low cut front, and a bit of a cut-out at the back, covered mostly by long hair.

You have a husband problem.

Your mate is also weird.

WiddlinDiddlin · 03/07/2024 15:23

Clothing for public wear should, in my opinion:

Adequately cover genitals for whatever activity it is you're doing.
Not have food/grot all over it or stink.

That'll do. Ideally I'd add in a third condition 'that you feel comfortable and happy wearing it' too!

Razorwire · 03/07/2024 15:24

Don’t ever ask him to ok your clothes.

Dress is from NA KD. Bought on sale

Nokiding · 03/07/2024 15:28

Who cares what you wear to pick up your kids. If your not in pj's or underwear

NightPuffins · 03/07/2024 15:29

I'd say the open back is fine but it's maybe a bit too short to be practical for school? If you're crouching down or bending say to pick something up you'll be flashing your pants to everyone.

Other than pyjamas anything goes.

or a bikini

CactusMactus · 03/07/2024 15:34

One mum did pick up in dressing gown with remote control in one pocket and baby bottle in the other....

Your cute dress is fine!
