To think DH should sit in the front?

Now and again we get an Uber with DD for quite journey of about 25/30 mins. Every time DH squeezes in the back with me and DD. I should say we are both a bit bigger and DH is tall. Dd id a teenager. He opens the door for us and we get in and then he makes us budge up and we all sit squashed in whilst the front passenger seat is empty.

Is this weird? He thinks you don't sit in the front seat, I think he should.

I would sit in the front but I generally think he should and secondly he gestures for me to get in first and then gets in after. It would be silly for me to get back out and walk around to the front seat.

I usually go in the back if it's just me but there's no reason for you not to sit in the front if the other option is all squashing up in the back?

I sit in the back alone/with one other and in the front if there’s 3+. No need to squish. I might ask the driver first as a courtesy but they have never said no!

DH loves sitting in the front - its easier for him to ask the Taxi driver if he has been busy and what time he finishes
If he didn't I would quite happily do so (without the daft questions)

Haha it's funny the nuances of the situation are difficult to explain. I certainly don't stand around waiting for him to open the door for me and I just think it would come across as passive aggressive if I ignored his gesture and got in the front. He's always the last to get in and just squashes us!

If you know hes going to get in the back since this is a pattern of behaviour for him then you just get in the front. Dont wait for him to motion to you to get in the car, just jump in the front

I think you're both being a bit silly about this. If drivers are picking up 3 adults, it's expected that one sits in the front. If your DH is too awkward to do the decent thing, it's absolutely fine for you to go in the front.

Don’t know. They just do. One of the main reasons to have one, to sit in the front awkwardly with the driver so you don’t have to. See also bins, heavy gardening, most DIY.
Obvs if no man present, others can sit in the front, do the bins, do DIY. But the default is a man.
Obvs this is just in my little world and experience. Other worlds and experiences are equally valid!
