Boyfriend’s bizarre underwear routine?

I recently moved in with BF. I have since discovered that he only changes his underwear after he showers in the evening and doesn’t replace them with a new pair each morning after sleeping in them. I think this is very strange and that each time you get dressed for the day you should change your underwear.

I haven’t lived with a man for a long time so I guess I could be unreasonable to think this way?

YABU - he is still changing them daily so no issue

YANBU - he should change them when getting dressed in the morning

I'm amazed so many people are aghast at people wearing underwear to bed and think they're the normal ones for wiping their genitals all over the bed sheets all night...Oh but it's ok cos they had a shower before they got into bed 😬

Yuck. These threads always make me feel grubby and the people who come on with all the ‘natural oils and odour are all perfectly fine and I only bathe weekly’ just make my skin crawl.

I examine people at work (healthcare) and people are surprisingly grubby given majority have access to washing facilities- dirty smelly feet, sweaty armpits, bits of loo roll in bum cheeks and worse.

We all shower in the morning and wear clean pants, shower again and change pants if exercise in the day, shower and clean PJs for bedtime. Each shower is only a few minutes and allows washing all the vital areas so it’s hardly a drama.

How anyone can get into bed when they have walked around barefoot or been for a poo etc and not had a wash before bedtime is quite honestly beyond me. I would feel horrible.

I mean feet smell there's no getting around it, unless you put deodorant on them (which I've tried) if you're in close proximity to anyone who wears shoes you'll probably get a whiff of something. Yours probably do too, oh the horror. And cheap loo roll means bits get left behind-in fact it's hard to find any loo roll that doesn't do this. I don't think those people sound particularly grubby because you can't really help most of those things.

I'm surprised a shower lasting only a few minutes meets your high standards of cleanliness tbh.

He sleeps in underwear?!

That was my reaction.

@CharlotteBog well it’s different for everyone but I’ve definitely become sweatier at night in menopause…everywhere. HRT helped….but it can only do so much.

I usually shower at night but still need one in the morning too….

I'm a woman and I do this.

I have a shower at 10.30pm put clean knickers on after and I don't change them in the morning.

Glad I'm not the only one. I was beginning to think I was a freak!

Oh I see, I thought you were focussing just on needing fresh undies, not that you are more sweaty all over.
I had some terrible night sweats during peri - and that meant fresh everything, right down to the mattress protector. And of course a shower.

@CharlotteBog highly recommend a wool duvet, really helped regulate my temperature at night.

Yep, always natural fibres in bed. Pure cotton covers always, wool, silk or down duvets. I have down ones, they are very old and I wouldn't buy again because of the cruelty of it, but there's no doubting they make a difference to temperature regulation.

Nothing. It’s perfectly normal.
