Boyfriend’s bizarre underwear routine?

I recently moved in with BF. I have since discovered that he only changes his underwear after he showers in the evening and doesn’t replace them with a new pair each morning after sleeping in them. I think this is very strange and that each time you get dressed for the day you should change your underwear.

I haven’t lived with a man for a long time so I guess I could be unreasonable to think this way?

YABU - he is still changing them daily so no issue

YANBU - he should change them when getting dressed in the morning

Because when it’s my week to do the washing I’m aware if there’s 14 or 28 pairs of boxers in the wash that week.

Genuine question – if you sleep naked, do you change your sheets every day? I presume that you must do. If you change your clothes every day, then by the same logic you need to change your bedding every day if you’ve been sleeping with your naked body rubbing against them. Otherwise it’s gross and unhygienic.

Some people don’t shower in the morning because they start work very early. My son starts at 5am so showering at 4am would wake everyone up. He showers at night. I’ve no idea what he does underwear wise but if you had a really physical job, I’d not sure you would bother if you only changed at night. It’s not that outlandish to be honest.

I shower at night and have one pair for bed, a new one in the morning.

BUT I don't think it's that weird? Lots of people shower in the morning, wear underwear all day and then sleep in that same pair, it's only the same but the other way round isn't it? In fact it's surely cleaner this way?

Seriously though... isn't it different for men? Especially wearing loose-ish boxers. Not the same as having knickers right next to a vagina which understandably need to be changed more frequently. (Sorry if that's a bit graphic!)

I sleep in underwear! I put on clean after evening bath and clean in the morning but couldn’t put my pj’s on with no underwear .

My dh (stbxh) will fall asleep on the sofa in his clothes and wake up the next morning and go straight out to work. God help the other bus passengers.

My H has slept in his underwear for as long as I have known him. Changes them morning and evening, regardless of when he showers, which is at least once a day.

I sleep in pyjamas. I do not wear anything under them. I would find that uncomfortable and not conducive to sleep. I wear a clean set daily.

Lots of red flags here. Time to have a good hard think about your relationship. You deserve so much better than this weird behaviour.

Well it's a bit like putting your trousers on at night after a shower and then getting up and going to work in them....

I put new underwear on in the morning and then it stays on all night until I shower and change it the next day.

How are you all getting so dirty from having a shower, going to sleep and waking up in the morning that you need fresh underpants when you wake up? 😳

Unless you shit the bed every night, the only issues I see with this is that it would be uncomfortable to sleep and the trousers would be creased for work?

I shower at night and wear clean underwear afterwards. I sleep in my underwear (pants not bra) then I keep the underwear on until I shower again the next evening. So basically the same as OP's BF. Seems normal to me.

I wondered this. I don't count my DH's or DS's pants, I wouldn't have a clue what their pants routine is. I know they don't smell though.

Only time I have noticed with DS2 when he was a bit younger was when he went on a residential trip and all of his pants were still clean when he came home 😁

The sleeping in pants bit would put me off more than the not washing them.

What's the issue? He's showering and changing underwear daily just at a different time to you? Personal preference really.

But you're showering twice in 24 hours, changing your underwear each time. The OP's BF is showering once and wearing the same pair for 24 hours. So not the same.

Are you 12? Of course plenty of adults wear pyjamas or nightdresses etc., and of course not all of them are OAPs. There are some right weird attitudes on this place!

No they said they shower once a day so it's exactly the same.

I’m a shower at night person. I like my bed so want to stay in it as long as possible in the morning. Saves me time in the mornings
