Not working for me, he keeps parking across my driveway. I’ve asked him again to move it and he said all I have to do is be polite and ask.l each time.

I responded with I was polite the first time and how about he just doesn’t do it. And wow did it escalate. He was screaming that he pays road tax and can park where he wants, I pointed out it’s a dropped curb so no he can’t.

Honestly. It got so much worse, he called me a fucking bitch. Now I feel vulnerable in my own home.

Aibu? I shouldn’t repeatedly have to ask someone to stop blocking my car. I’ve noticed he doesn’t block the driveway of the people he’s working for.

Wholly unacceptable. If I were you I’d have a word with the people who he IS working for- I’m sure they want to avoid pissing off the neighbours (you). They might be able to prevent him doing it again.

Hoppinggreen · 21/05/2024 11:37

Point out that its illegal and it would be awful if someone reported him.
I would also speak to whoever he is working for as I would be horrified if anyone working for me spoke to a neighbour like that.

Wizardcalledoz · 21/05/2024 11:38

Take pictures every single time. Talk to those he is working for. Is he working for a bigger company or self employed - if there is a company to complain to, do that. I'd also consider reporting him for the violence?

ThereIsNoSuchThingAsRoadTax · 21/05/2024 11:38

He doesn't pay road tax.

AmandaHoldensLips · 21/05/2024 11:39

His threatening behaviour and swearing at you is a huge red flag. I'd be reporting it to the police.

Choice4567 · 21/05/2024 11:40

THERE’S NO SUCH THING AS ROAD TAX!! Can I come and yell at him for you?!

Farcis · 21/05/2024 11:40

I live in an outer London borough and it's not illegal to park across someone's dropped curve driveway unless the person in the house complains about it (crazy, but true). So I'd ring your local Council parking enforcement team and get them to ticket/tow him. That'll sort it.

Medschoolmum · 21/05/2024 11:41

Take photos and report it. Tell the police that he is a) parking illegally across your drive and b) being aggressive when challenged. If he works for a company, report it to them as well. If he is self employed, put it on your local FB pages and Nextdoor etc.

And yes, speak to your neighbour about the issue.

bilgewater · 21/05/2024 11:45

In my (London) borough one call to parking enforcement brings a warden very quickly - they are absolutely delighted to issue tickets. I'd go down that route if it's the same where you are. Can't stand this sort of rampant misogyny - bet he wouldn't tell a man to ask him nicely.

WillimNot · 21/05/2024 11:45

Don't ask him, simply do what is your right and have it towed. Or buy a clamp. You've paid presumably for this drop kerb. Then when he gets irate you should just reply "all you had to do was ask politely".

Report him to the council as well

People like him annoy the shit out of me, he wouldn't speak to a bloke like it. I feel for his wife.

There's also the "You park like a C*not" group on Facebook. It's bloody marvellous

JuiceBoxJuggler · 21/05/2024 11:46

Happened to me once. I called 111 and the council, council ticketed the person and the police sent out a tow truck alongside a police car. Never parked there again - unsure if they got their car back...

F

Isitchill · 21/05/2024 11:49

Police, council and CSPO team.

Had similar here and they came out to speak to him.

VolvoFan · 21/05/2024 11:49

Point of pedantry here: It's not road tax, it's vehicle excise duty, which is based on emissions rather than engine size. Dropped curb or not, it has nothing to do with the road.

Carry on.

Point of pedantry here too: it’s a KERB not a curb.

What a dickhead. Take photos and write a review on every local Facebook group and review platform you can.

Too much of the American culture imported into the UK over the decades. Not really my fault.

musicthroughthewall · 21/05/2024 11:53

Well I called the non emergency and they said there’s nothing they will do. And because he moved it they won’t be anything about it.

I shouldn’t have lost my temper but it just gets really frustrating that he repeatedly does it and knows full well hes doing it. And him saying I should just ask each time. No I shouldn’t.

His van has no company name on it so I suspect he just works for himself maybe.

AlltheFs · 21/05/2024 11:54

Find a way to block him in yourself and then go out for a long time.

Why don’t you complain to the people he is working for? And what’s his reg - have you checked his vehicle is taxed and MOT’d?

Mummaganoush · 21/05/2024 11:54

That's so bloody rude. My neighbour had a "three week extension" which turned into over 6 months and the bastards gutted their whole house, banging day and night... But the builders were never this rude! My actual neighbours don't even have the class to apologise for the inconvenience but no way would I tolerate this. Absolutely inappropriate, the builder sounds like an absolute arse.

ChockysChimichanga · 21/05/2024 11:55

Who is it that comes out and tows cars you don’t own on request? I don’t know why people post ‘get it towed’ when it’s not possible to get a reputable company to remove someone else’s car.

RubySloth · 21/05/2024 11:56

Talk to your neighbours, I would be annoyed if someone I hired was being so rude and inconsiderate. Find out if he's the owner of the company then if not contact his boss or leave him a review.

Park your car on the drop kerb instead of the drive.
