Should I buy a bright pink velvet sofa

Hi
I’ve been divorced two years out of a pretty abusive relationship and finally got my own home again. Hooray! I have seen a beautiful bright pink velvet sofa but don’t know if I should buy it! I do want to meet my forever man so is it foolish buying such a girly colour? Maybe I should just go for another bright colour that isn’t pink
Am I massively overthinking this?!

My parents bedroom is bright pink, paint colour chosen and decorated by . . . My Dad! Pink is his fav colour 🤣

I love the sound of bright pink sofa. Sounds very glamorous and gorgeous. However is it comfy.

You won't feel nearly as glamorous sitting on it if it's like sitting on nails

CrushingOnRubies · 01/05/2024 20:54

Just see the picture! It looks really comfy buy the sofa!!

Yes! Buy it!
It will bring you joy.

steelingmyself · 01/05/2024 21:26

Absolutely.

And then do more things you love.

OP I pretty much did the exact same thing in pretty much the exact same scenario except I got the Darcy instead 😊 had it over a year now and still love it!

BUY THE SOFA! And stop worrying about what men will think ;-)

TealPoet · 01/05/2024 23:40

I hope you’ve bought it, and will be very glad to hear when it arrives! I hope you love it :)

Speaking from experience (recently divorced from a very controlling husband who absolutely refused to let me paint one wall pink!) I now have a pink and green living room. Everyone who comes to my house compliments the room and my new BF loves it too. It’s your home and should be a reflection of who you are. Buy the sofa!!! And enjoy being able to make choices that make you happy xxx

I’ve been divorced three years and absolutely bought the pink velvet sofa (and matching love seat). I also bought pink linen bed sheets.

my ex-husband said ‘no man will want to sleep in that bed’.

I mean, seriously, that is about my LAST concern.

And, I am pleased to report, men seem to have no issue with the pink sofa or the bed!

I can’t have a velvet sofa (we have dogs and a cat and I have an enormous arse, and a velvet sofa would be trashed in an instant), and even if I could, I think I’d struggle to persuade dh to get a bright pink one - so you need to get one so I can live vicariously through you, @Proseccodreams.

Love your post, made me smile! 😁

And I’m def Team 🩷 Sofa!

OP, when I was widowed quite young, I took solace in painting everything a fresh colour and re-arranging rooms… the painting was so cathartic, and I really enjoyed making the home as I fancied it.

I ended up with what could be thought of as quite a girly living room - but I loved it! So go for it!

I wish you all the best going forward, and you’ll love your new space! 💐
