To think McDonald's is rubbish now.
Burgers taste different now the buns taste/look different.
Yes I know its general crap fast food, but 10 years ago you would get a cheese quarter ponder and enjoy every minute, then maybe 20 mins later think you wish you hadn't as its full of rubbish.
But now its just awful.

I don't like the new brioche buns, too sweet and they go soggy. Clearly a money saving exercise rather than trying to improve the burger. The chips are horrible now too, always slightly undercooked, greasy and limp. Considering how they keep putting their prices up it's not worth the money anymore.

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 26/04/2024 12:54

The chicken nuggets were so much better in the 80s when they used all the chicken so they were much juicier. Dry as a bone now.
I never eat McDonald's now, so maybe they have changed. DD12 loves it though.

I don’t think it’s money saving, as the enriched dough will be more expensive. I think it’s recognising the change in tastes after the likes of gbk, byron etc hit the scene. There was a shift in a burger bun expectation being brioche.

A hot, hot French fry from McDonald's can be a beautiful thing. You don't tend to get them hot, hot. ☹️

ADHDGURL · 26/04/2024 19:51

Loved a cheeseburger with a fillet o fish..(yes I'm a piglet always have ordered both) cheeseburger is like cardboard.. fish burger is not as flavourful as I remember but still OK.. I have macy about x3 a year always disappointing..can't pinpoint the exact reason maybe it's my tastes

princesspadam · 27/04/2024 00:23

If I pass an exam tomorrow I'm either going for Philip or Big Mac
Both with a cheeseburger chaser

catgirl1976 · 27/04/2024 00:25

It’s always been awful. But it was fast and cheap. Now it’s neither.

I went the other night as I’d been working a bit late and couldn’t be arsed to come. I waited 30 minutes for my food. We could have gone out for dinner for something nice and been served quicker and there wasn’t much change out of £30 for 2 adults and a child. It wasn’t worth it on any level l.

catgirl1976 · 27/04/2024 00:32

Although that said we needed up in a Burger King a while ago and I honestly thought they’d made some sort of mistake on the price 😱. We could have gone to mowgli two doors down for that

OnTheBoardwalk · 28/04/2024 19:44

On the back of this thread I went to McDonald’s for first time in ages for a Big Mac I won’t be back. Absolutely awful, so awful in fact I took some pictures

it looked like someone had sat on it and the filling inside was awful. The milkshake machine was working for a change which was the only good part

My tastes have changed a lot. I don’t think the food at McDonald’s has barely changed at all.
Obviously it’s a lot more expensive. I worked there 25+ years ago when a meal cost £2.88

Yes prices have increased but employees get free meals on shift plus discounted meals

You always have to have a cheeseburger chaser in McDonald’s. It’s the law.

Elephantswillnever · 28/04/2024 20:07

It’s so expensive. I would recommend having the app though. There’s daily specials so you often get Big Mac and fries for £1.99.

Aquarius1234 · 28/04/2024 20:09

I keep hearing about the new buns on the radio.
Sorry not gonna work.
And regarding the cheese. I noticed that a while ago, that the slice was just tossed on and not melted. Then I looked inside and there was a tiny hair inside. Ewww.

Is it wrong that, that burger looks totally normal to me. I mean it looks crap but it’s totally what I’d expect

Aquarius1234 · 28/04/2024 20:12

That Big Mac looks small and no cheese.
Not appealing.

I hate brioche buns so I’m annoyed they’ve switched to them. I used to like a McDonald’s once a month, but I don’t think I will buy it again.

Moralcompass1 · 28/04/2024 20:15

Agree. Plus I read what was in the salt so just wouldn’t eat the chips anymore: https://delishably.com/news/salt-mcdonalds-fries

princesspadam · 28/04/2024 20:16

This was mine last nite in a US airport
I also had a cheeseburger chaser 😂

The Big Mac was fine, the cheeseburger even better and why for the love of god don't we have honey mustard dipping sauce???? It was amazing

Mine doesn't look like the one on their website. Too much bun and it ended up all soggy

FanofLeaves · 29/04/2024 08:15

In South Korea they put a cardboard band around the Big Macs to keep it neat and not sloppy, why don’t they do that elsewhere?!

Crucible · 29/04/2024 08:30

This thread spurred me on at the weekend to make my own burgers, I used Sheldon's burger buns, proper ones with sesame seeds - not bloody brioche, with cheddar melted on mine. They were bloody lush. DH had two.

Sweedey · 29/04/2024 08:59

Same, I've been making burgers at home. Nice thick patty, fried onions, pickles, cheddar and burger sauce😋

It does make McDonald's a lot less appetising. Their milkshakes are still delicious and I'll still pop on go rub a discount my. But I will never spend £6 on one of their burgers.

zingally · 29/04/2024 10:03

You don't have to eat it.

Personally, I love a sausage and egg mcmuffin!

Oh noooo, they're much nicer with thinly sliced raw onions, plus they're not so slippery!

GrannyWeatherwaxsHatpin · 29/04/2024 10:56

I bloody love a McDonalds. Their animal welfare standards are better than many, too - most places don't give a shit as long as they can flog it more cheaply.

I don't go there often but when I do I wish they'd sort their service out. Prioritising deliveries means a) restaurant customers are left waiting when often they're the ones wanting something to eat quickly and b) the place is full of pushy drivers jostling you out of their way.

It's not supposed to be gourmet food so if you don't like it, don't eat there!
