To think a lot of CBeebies is crap

cbeebiescrap · 15/04/2024 20:57

Yes I know I am not the target audience.

But Vida the vet seems to constantly be on.

I like go jetters and octonaughts but a bit too grown up for toddlers.

The clangers is boring shit.

What the hell is waffle and biff and chip

I don’t like bluey. I know. But I don’t.

YABU to not like Bluey.

I do agree that a lot of CBeebies is shit. But given that it has no adverts, and it’s mostly vaguely educational it seems like the best of a bad bunch.

My 5 year old has decided he’s into Pinocchio and Friends. Now that really is appalling.

TipsyKoala · 15/04/2024 21:04

Agreed that Vids the vet is rubbish, even my kids say that, but Bluey? No I don’t agree, I think it’s pretty good quality tv computer to some of the absolute rubbish on other kids channels.

user1471517900 · 15/04/2024 21:04

Biff and Chip are in a whole load of school early reading books. That's where that comes from.

Bluey is amazing though, so I can't take that post seriously at all.

Jokl · 15/04/2024 21:05

Yea a load of it is just crap. Bloody supertato. There’s probably 5 shit shows to one good. Bluey is great tho.

neverendingcold · 15/04/2024 21:06

I player is the best you can choose what you want then. Numberblocks is good

cbeebiescrap · 15/04/2024 21:08

I don’t ‘get’ number blocks. I fear I have the mathematical ability of a two year old 😂

Bluey just leaves me cold, it’s fine, it’s not awful or anything but I don’t get the love. Sorry!

Well as you say, you're hardly the target audience! My kids like or have liked a lot of the programmes, and learned things from watching them, so I'm a fan by extension.

My 5yo likes Vida the Vet, Waffle (they actually watch this at school!), and Biff, Chip and Kipper (gets some of the books from school).

My 2yo likes Supertato.

Both of them like Bluey (and so do me and DH!).

I'd say you were right there.
OP, I really couldn't stand it, thank God DS is at school now.
Even worse... when eldest was 2 she loved Mr Bloom and the vegetables (Mr Bloom's Nursery). Don't look it up, it will give you nightmares.

cbeebiescrap · 15/04/2024 21:09

Maybe mine need to grow into it. Only 3 and 1. But they surely ARE the target audience. 1 year old likes moon and me which I love as well, I feel like I’m tripping when I watch it with her 🤣

CBeebies is for children up to 7 - as well as older children with SEN - so not everything will be primarily aimed at toddlers. They often tend to show programmes targeted more at older children in that group earlier in the morning and then in the evening, with the baby and toddler stuff more prevalent whilst the older ones will be at school.

It's standard with any channel that shows a wide variety of programmes that not everybody will like every show: it's not like Sky Golf (if that exists?!) that golf fans will love pretty much all of and almost everybody else will hate!

Geebray · 15/04/2024 21:10

You'd best get used to Biff and Chip OP... they're going to be in your life in other ways.

Opplesandbananas · 15/04/2024 21:11

I don’t think it’s shit at all!

In fact, much, MUCH prefer it over YouTube and Ms Rachel. I resolve to never have either of those two on in our house!

Sapphire387 · 15/04/2024 21:12

My DH is a big fan of Sarah and Duck. Just saying.

We always just assumed that they simply must have a mucky late-night spin-off show called Midnight Bloom, that was definitely not one for the children Grin

neverendingcold · 15/04/2024 21:13

Have you tried twirlywoos?

AhBiscuits · 15/04/2024 21:13

I like the cooking thing, the one that's a bit like come dine with me.

SpeedyDrama · 15/04/2024 21:13

You get a YABU just for besmirching Bluey. But as others say, there’s Numberblocks and Hey Duggee for great viewing that don’t bore adults. Colour/Alphablocks are eye catching for the kids as well. Bing is irritating but at least there’s plenty of episodes.

Waffle can be yeeted to the moon though.

cbeebiescrap · 15/04/2024 21:14

I really don’t get what the hell Duggee is about 😂

OP posts:
mynameiscalypso · 15/04/2024 21:14

For me, the lack of adverts and the knowledge that everything will be appropriate outweighs a lot of the tedious programmes (like Waffle). Balamory is one of my 4 year old's favourite programmes even though it was on decades ago.

AhBiscuits · 15/04/2024 21:14

Sapphire387 · 15/04/2024 21:12

QUACK.

The theme tune is so catchy.

mynameiscalypso · 15/04/2024 21:15

Oh, I'd forgotten about Duggee. I order Duggee!

SpeedyDrama · 15/04/2024 21:15

Oh and what happened to Mister Maker? My eldest loved his show and that shapes song was bloody catchy 🤣.

NeighbourhoodWatchPotholeDivision · 15/04/2024 21:16

Do they still have Abney and Teal? I liked that one.

RaraRachael · 15/04/2024 21:16

I watch some of these with my grandson. Some are good, a lot are terrible (sorry I can't remember the names)

Out of curiosity, what is meant to be so amazing about Bluey? It's ok, a cute enough wee blue dog, but I don't get the adulation.

Maybe Paw Patrol is more your thing? Couldn’t stand more than an episode in my house, rather have Blippi on and that’s saying something…
