To think a lot of CBeebies is crap

Yes I know I am not the target audience.

But Vida the vet seems to constantly be on.

I like go jetters and octonaughts but a bit too grown up for toddlers.

The clangers is boring shit.

What the hell is waffle and biff and chip

I don’t like bluey. I know. But I don’t.

I watch some of these with my grandson. Some are good, a lot are terrible (sorry I can't remember the names)

Out of curiosity, what is meant to be so amazing about Bluey? It's ok, a cute enough wee blue dog, but I don't get the adulation.

That’s how I feel. I think it’s because the parents are meant to be very good or something. I don’t know!

I have a 2 year old who loves Duggee and Bluey. As she’s getting older she’s enjoying alphablocks and colpurblocks more. The channel isn’t solely aimed at toddler’s though so there’s a mix of shows for different ages .

I agree with @Geebray you’re going to see a lot more of Biff, Chip and Kipper soon 😂

Maybe Paw Patrol is more your thing? Couldn’t stand more than an episode in my house, rather have Blippi on and that’s saying something…

No job too big, no pup too small!

Forgot about Peter rabbit as well, wtf is that theme tune

For me, it's the first thing I've been able to watch with my son where we both 'get it' and we both find bits funny (sometimes for different reasons) and we act some of the episodes out. There are some genuinely moving episodes too and a few that have prompted quite deep conversations. It's not afraid to tackle hard subjects but in a sensitive and age appropriate way.

Bluey is incredible, but you have to fully immerse yourself in it. The nuance of the dynamics, seeing it through a child’s perspective whilst not losing any adult insights - it’s incredibly well done for a supposed children’s show. I don’t understand why it’s considered a preschool show to be honest - it has more value as a family/all ages show.

cbeebiescrap · 15/04/2024 21:19

We’re biff and chip and kipper too

we love to play just like yoooou

Yes you have to fully watch.

Do they still have Abney and Teal? I liked that one.

Yes!

My LO also likes dog squad and topsy and Tim but I CANT STAND TOPSY AND TIM

puddingandsun · 15/04/2024 21:23

I trusted CBeebies more than anything else with my little one, although over the last few years some YouTube not-so-good stuff like cocomelon, gecko's garage, etc has been added to it too.

My dc watched numberblocks, Alphablocks, kit and pup, hey Duggee, Sarah and duck, Charlie and Lola, Peter rabbit, dog loves books, and then later on octanautos, okido (?), all the Maddie programs, amazing machines.

Now it's mostly Blue Peter, and he's a huge fan of Bluey - but we've got Disney for that (for all the episodes, I cried watching the 'Sign' today!)

Every time we tried to watch kids' programs on Prime for example he would never get into them. ITV and Milkshake (Five) had some good ones but lots of ads too.

mitogoshi · 15/04/2024 21:23

We like Timmy Time. Dsd watches it (older has Sen)

RaraRachael · 15/04/2024 21:26

I would say that I "fully watch" Bluey as in I'm watching the whole episode but to me it's just a little cartoon - nothing more, nothing less. I can't say it's ever prompted any discussions in our house.

Tattooedcoffeeaddict · 15/04/2024 21:26

I loved Abney and Teal and good old Neep and the ever expanding porridge! I’m so glad they still show it!

I sound like my children are now ancient… alas they are not! 8, 6 and 2 but the 8 year old commandeers the tv and only allows YouTube. The 2 year old is only interested in Peppa Pig or Cocomelon. I miss Hey Duggee and Octonaughts and Moon and Me and Mr Tumble and Sarah and Duck! Not Waffle though… you can keep him! Along with those siblings that were all too happy to sing about there ideas in the market…

EveryoneJapan · 15/04/2024 21:29

Disagree. The banging tunes in Peter Rabbit are worth the licence fee alone.

”Rabbits are brave, rabbits are brave, rabbits are brave!”

”Run, run for our lives…….”

CelesteCunningham · 15/04/2024 21:29

Adore bluey.

I love cbeebies. Yes a lot of it is awful for grown-ups, but it's age appropriate and there's no ads or pushing merch. Everything has a good message and the presenters tackle social issues in between. Lots of female characters with agency as well.

My DC have discovered Disney+ now, and in fairness it's not as bad as I feared but I do miss the innocence of cbeebies.

Kalevala · 15/04/2024 21:34

It's all shit. I didn't let DS know about it. We watched horrible histories, time team, and other history and engineering programmes, and he was happy as he didn't know any different.

Crabble · 15/04/2024 21:34

mine love Waffle the Wonder Dog but I want to ban it as the theme tune gets in my head and keeps me up and torments me all night.

Agree with PP the Peter rabbit theme tune is odd.

Bluey is genius though. It’s just so relatable and really evokes the feels about how much we love our children despite the many frustrations of parenting

MsRosewater · 15/04/2024 21:39

@AhBiscuits and @Sapphire387 - Sarah and Duck is whimsical, pastel -coloured bliss!!!

my DH and i still talk to each other in S&D speak ( Ahoy! sauntering, big-shop, green bean etc)

Bluey was the only compensation for DD out-growing S&D and duggy)

Peter Rabbit was really funny so removed from the classic Beatrix Potter that I loved as a girl. My year 8 DD loved CBeebies Peter Rabbit, she had the characters, the treehouse, one Christmas I drove all the way to Tunbridge Wells Toy shop to purchase Tommy Brockett, it was click and collect and last of two packets they day before Christmas Eve so no delivery!

GingerScallop · 15/04/2024 21:44

cbeebiescrap · 15/04/2024 21:09

Maybe mine need to grow into it. Only 3 and 1. But they surely ARE the target audience. 1 year old likes moon and me which I love as well, I feel like I’m tripping when I watch it with her 🤣

For the one year old Yakka Dee for speech development and fun. For 2 year old, Bluey and most of cbeebies

You will be pitchforked off mumsnet for saying anything against the revered sainted Bluey 😂

GingerScallop · 15/04/2024 21:44

3 not 2 year old

Santasbigredbobblehat · 15/04/2024 21:45

Check out baby Jake! Old school CBeebies.

OP, I don’t love Bluey. I find it annoying.

Jk987 · 15/04/2024 21:47

The best ones are Patchwork Pals, Baby Jake, Hey Duggee, Shaun the Sheep, Yaka Dee

Some of it it bad though.

PenelopeTitsdrop1990 · 15/04/2024 21:47

What was the programme with the boy and his family living in a lighthouse (I think)?

Loved Mr Tumble,Night garden,Andy's adventures,Mr maker,Chris and Pui, Let's play and number jacks. My daughter is 12 now so no idea if they're still shown.

bloodyhellKen22 · 15/04/2024 21:48

I'd love to be able to watch CBeebies with the storylines and different characters/ we are fully in a Wiggles phase 😱
