Do you shower/bath everyday

Just that really, do you shower/bath daily as an adult that (not ill or has health conditions)

I am asking this as another thread, made me curious.

YIBU- I don't shower everyday, there is no need.
YANBU- I shower everyday as I like to be clean.

I'd feel uncomfortable or worse if I did not.

BeretRaspberry · 14/04/2024 10:54

Every day, without fail. I wash my hair every 2/3 days but the ones in between take just a few minutes to have a good wash. In the summer, it’ll often be twice a day

My daughter has eczema so does every other day.

UnpickThePockets · 14/04/2024 10:54

Washing every 5 days feels like something from the 1950’s (bar illness / health / mobility issues).

IMustDoMoreExercise · 14/04/2024 10:56

In the morning. I really couldn't be bothered to shower twice a day like some on here.

KimberleyClark · 14/04/2024 10:57

I’m surprised the “baths are gross - lying there in your own filth” brigade haven’t turned up yet.

I will have a quick rinse after a bath, but enjoy a bath with a glass of win with a book every now and then.

Twice a day - morning and night with hair wash every other.

Cazpar · 14/04/2024 11:09

Smelling body odour is no indication of how long ago someone showered, so all this "I can tell" is bollocks.

Some people smell of BO after a few hours, others a couple of days. It also depends on your clothes, deodorant, level of activity. Clothes can create a smell even if you've showered that morning if (I'm sure we've all showered and put on a clean top and gone out only to realise a couple of hours later that the underarms of it smell and it needs the baking soda scrub or vinegar soak).

ginasevern · 14/04/2024 11:15

I shower every day in the morning. I would feel horrible if I didn't. I wash my hair every 3 days. I can't be arsed to shower twice a day but obviously I do if I've been doing something smelly or manual!

Its not bollocks or is everyone who said it on here lying

Mostl days.

But sometimes skip a day at the weekend

MinervaMcGonagallsCat · 14/04/2024 11:19

If I'm going to exercise I don't shower until after that. My hair would get too dry if I showered twice.

Etoile41 · 14/04/2024 11:23

Shower before bed and in the monring. Wouldn't get into bed without washing off the dirt/germs from outside and don't feel comfortable going put without a shower

Yes it is, or they are.

One person might shower in the morning and smell by lunchtime. One might not smell despite not showering that day.

What you're smelling is BO. Not time since last shower.

TheSmallAssassin · 14/04/2024 11:29

I wash my hair every other day, in between I either have a sink wash with a flannel or a shower. Either way, I am clean every day.

Sink washing really is quicker and uses less water (and why did someone think it made a mess? What are you doing?!)

theduchessofspork · 14/04/2024 11:30

Usually.

A musty smell isn't particularly pleasant either to be honest.

@KimberleyClark I don't think anyone is suggesting that's there's anything wrong with using unscented products.

Do the people saying Musty mean Musky, musty is damp mould smell I thought, I don't think many people smell like that unless they live in a damp basement flat. Musky is slightly animal/human smell and they base perfumes on it.

pelotonaddiction · 14/04/2024 11:38

Most days but not every day
I WFH, and wash after the toilet so no issues there

Friday night I showered, worked Saturday until 2pm, and didn't shower after as I'm doing a spin class shortly. Which obviously I will shower after! Wash hair 2/3 times a week

Washing every 5 days feels like something from the 1950’s (bar illness / health / mobility issues).

I remember the old days, we had a back boiler so having a bath in the summer was a major task and you had to have the fire on for hours to heat the water (all the doors and windows open and a blazing fire!). Alternatively you could carry kettles and pans of boiling water upstairs to put in the bath. Bathing every day was not an option. Usually a strip wash at the kitchen sink (to avoid carrying boiling water upstairs to the bathroom) was the best option.

pelotonaddiction · 14/04/2024 11:47

Should add I feel I stay cleaner/fresher for longer now I don't just use shower gel

Soap under arms with exfoliating gloves, belly button and feet including in between toes. Back brush with soap
Then wash all over (including legs!) with shower gel/oil
Hibiscrub for medical condition where needed

Sugarfish · 14/04/2024 11:56

I shower every day. I do have dry skin but I put on moisturiser after. When I lived in hotter countries then the uk I would shower in the morning and evening.

I think it’s grimy not to wash regularly and I would not like to be described as musty.

Tattyhabits · 14/04/2024 11:59

I'm interested to learn what people think they can smell on those that only shower every other day. I wonder if it's simply lack of perfume? I shower every day but always use unscented soap and shampoo, so am worried. Would you think I was unclean?

GingerPirate · 14/04/2024 12:04

Well....of course. Me and husband.
Sigh.

No, of course not. As above, it doesn't matter if you're using fragranced products or not. The point is that you're washing daily, which for the vast majority of people is enough to prevent smelling bad.

I can’t start the day without being fresh from top to bottom, including washing my hair.

I could never wash my hair every day....it's takes an hour to style it. By style I mean make it look presentable. It's very thick and takes ages to dry and is a frizzy mess unless I straighten it. I wash my hair twice a week max. I shower every day though and just put my hair up so it doesn't get wet.
