Vinted seller has pissed me off

I’m usually chilled but this for some reason really took me off guard!

I ordered an item via Vinted and I waited 4 days for the item to be sent .. that’s ok I can’t do anything about it …. However, I got the item now and the seller wrote me a message saying “can you confirm that you got the item so I receive the payment “? What excuse me ?
Not a question like are you happy with the item ? You got 5 days to send and I have 2 days to confirm …. what’s the rush? This is not a business

what a cheeky …..

You have the item, let them have their money.

CaliforniaHereWeCome1 · 08/04/2024 23:18

YABU, what a non-issue. 4 days is a reasonable time to post, they have a week to do so. You received the item so you should release the payment. If you want something instantly buy it new and pay for express postage.

NotAllowed · 08/04/2024 23:19

People have busy lives, children, commitments etc. As soon as you receive your item it’s good practice and etiquette to confirm receipt. The app notifies you when a package has been delivered. It pisses me off when people receive their item then make zero attempt to confirm for days on end.

Lauren83 · 08/04/2024 23:21

I also don't think 4 days is unreasonable to post, and I would always confirm as soon as I receive it

TheCheekyKoala · 08/04/2024 23:23

I’d just ignore the message and let it run it’s two days.

If they really took the piss sending it then when I get it delivered to a shop I leave it up there a week and then take 2 days to confirm too.

Mmhmmn · 08/04/2024 23:24

YABU. I wouldn’t consider 4 days a long time.

PrimalLass · 08/04/2024 23:24

4 day to send is perfectly ok.

Days on end …. You only get 2 days.
People have busy lives, children, commitments etc and might not have time to confirm straight away….. works both ways.

I received the item I didn’t even have a chance to open it … and I was asked to release money ….

like wait a second what if the item is damaged and not as described? They have 5 days & I have 2 days as buyers are busy as well …

Exactly it’s not like I’m deliberately sitting here and not confirming I was just busy and I got a massage which I thought it’s about some of the items I sell - I’m not new to Vinted and I know that this is v v unusual and rude!

OP posts:
TimeandMotion · 08/04/2024 23:29

Sending requires wrapping and finding time to deliver to drop off point. In the time before sending the buyer has lost nothing- hasn’t paid anything.

By contrast, confirming receipt takes seconds on the app. Until the item is confirmed received in good condition the seller has no money and no item so is in a vulnerable position. Not comparable.

I’ve had people buy from me and never confirm. I’ve had to wait weeks for the funds to automatically release. The effort required to package something up and take it to a postal service is slightly different from the seconds it takes to open a parcel and click the button in the app. Most people live with their phones in their hands so it’s not as much of a valid excuse the other way around.

Moveoverdarlin · 08/04/2024 23:32

This is such a non issue. Is the item ok? If so, just reply ‘all good, cheers!’

Let it go.

Please read the post first and then comment,
I said sending it after 4 days was absolutely fine I’m not talking about that,
im talking about when you just collected the parcel and they urged you to release balance!

No it’s not. You pick it up, shove it in a bag and then go to the post office/corner shop.
It’s hardly a big effort.

Bambi1449 · 08/04/2024 23:36

Total non-issue. She just reminded you to confirm receipt. Personally I would have included a "please" with the reminder but other than that her message to you was perfectly reasonable.

TheGoogleMum · 08/04/2024 23:37

Oh no I don't always get round to opening my parcels right away so don't confirm right away! Ive only had 1 seller nag me to hurry up. Doesn't vinted release the money anyway after 2 days?

QueenBitch666 · 08/04/2024 23:39

Massive non issue

Exactly it does ! Like what’s the hurry ? I can just imagine him/her writing personal messages to everyone and rushing them to release payment ! So rude

55Sainz · 08/04/2024 23:42

You don't know their circumstances - they might be relying on that money for whatever reason.

That really depends on where you live. If you live in the middle of nowhere like I do and someone requests an in post locker and you can’t find one with availability within 20 miles then it can be a major hassle!
I have now removed that option for anything I sell in the future.

No if the buyer doesn’t confirm it’s 4 weeks. Also as a seller you are out of pocket if you posted via Royal Mail as you’ve paid for that yourself until you get the money released from Vinted. I wouldn’t chase a buyer on the day though. I have when I know the parcel has been delivered and it’s more than 5 days that have passed.

TheChosenTwo · 08/04/2024 23:44

Seems like an impatient seller but only on their terms!
It could have taken any number of reasons for them to not be able to post for 4
days (although I always post same day or the next day if it’s past about 6pm and I’m out but I do pause my account if I’m away) the same as it could have taken any number of reasons for you not to confirm instantly.
I want to try it on and make sure it’s not damaged before I will confirm, it’s not an unreasonable thing to do.
YANBU, this seller seems pushy. Not sure it would piss me off but it’s still annoying.

Would of been smart to take it off in the first place. Hardly the sellers fault you didn’t update your settings correctly.

Yes, all of which takes more time than confirming receipt in the app. You sound like a spiteful misery.
