Vinted seller has pissed me off

Littlepumkin · 08/04/2024 23:11

I’m usually chilled but this for some reason really took me off guard!

I ordered an item via Vinted and I waited 4 days for the item to be sent .. that’s ok I can’t do anything about it …. However, I got the item now and the seller wrote me a message saying “can you confirm that you got the item so I receive the payment “? What excuse me ?
Not a question like are you happy with the item ? You got 5 days to send and I have 2 days to confirm …. what’s the rush? This is not a business

what a cheeky …..

Jesus, it took longer to write this MN post than it would have to confirm you received it. Yabu.

TheExclusiveSandwich · 09/04/2024 14:00

@Littlepumkin

it seems like no one can persuade you you’re wrong

Highlighta · 09/04/2024 14:04

Littlepumkin · 09/04/2024 13:48

exactly! So they have 5 days and buyers have 2 days so no need to rush me for the money and bother me with extra messages

Why are you being so aggressive? If you don't like the system, buy new or from somewhere else.

Rushing you? All you need to do is open the package, open the app and push a button. Take will take, say, 10 minutes.

Have you considered that some people sell their items to just get by these days. Perhaps the seller is in a very tight spot financially and hence the note. Sometimes you have to read between the lines. Somehow I doubt that is your first thought seeing as you are all very me, me, me.

TheCheekyKoala · 08/04/2024 23:23

I’d just ignore the message and let it run it’s two days.

If they really took the piss sending it then when I get it delivered to a shop I leave it up there a week and then take 2 days to confirm too.

How is that taking the piss? The buyer is effectively entering a contract agreement that the seller has up to 5 working days?

Ryegait · 09/04/2024 14:08

Show some grace @Littlepumkin, with a little mindfulness one could imagine the seller might well be short of cash and desperately need it for groceries/baby formula/nappies.

Just release the cash and move one.

AlwaysGinPlease · 09/04/2024 14:12

YABVU and rather petty tbh. Are you new to Vinted? As soon as you get them item and you're happy it's in good condition etc, you should accept and release the funds. You have the item so the seller should be paid for it. You'll get bad feedback and nobody will sell to you.

PossumintheHouse · 09/04/2024 14:12

Fucking hell. How miserable. Henceforth you shall forever be known as The Vinted Diva.

Let's hope so, so some other person just trying to get by doesn't have to deal with the OP.

Clearly time is not an issue, as they have spent more time moaning than it would take to collect the bloody parcel, check it and complete the sale.

I do hope that the seller is on MN tbh so they can do a fast block.

ViaMargutta · 09/04/2024 15:00

Meh.

Recently used Vinted for the very first time. Bought three summer dresses (different sellers) for peanuts. Decent brands, would cost me about £200 in the shop. Took a bit to arrive, but arrive they did, great condition, fit me fine, I like them all. Very happy!

Checked them over as soon as they arrived and released the money.

Prepared to overlook less than 5 star comms, to be honest. It's not Harrods. If you want ass-kissing go and buy new. Although it doesn't always guarantee good customer service. Bought a laptop from John Lewis recently, they messed up my order, took two weeks to arrive, kept fobbing me off and weren't apologetic at all. Over £1000 item, seemingly a 'good' shop.

StarbucksQueen1 · 09/04/2024 15:02

I expect they got a notification you had collected it and it prompted them to ask for the money. No biggie.

I kinda get it, my Evri delivery driver pops my parcels at the back door if I don’t answer the ring, I’m in a meeting, or if I’m not home.

I once had a message from the seller within 10 minutes of it being delivered asking for me to confirm it’s ok!

I was in my office working…I wasn’t about to leave my meeting run downstairs and check, it was about 2pm in the afternoon!

Most of the time I click confirm within a couple of hours. I once forgot as I was on holiday when something was delivered and I did apologise to the seller.

theescapeladder · 09/04/2024 15:39

Gosh, don't you sound lovely.

Really hope you're never going to buy a thing from me...

whywonttheyeattheirfood · 09/04/2024 15:41

Poor soul, they might be desperate for the money. Times are hard and food is really expensive now.

However they most likely took 4 of the 5 days to dispatch the item as they have a life outside of vinted, and you are just using your full 2 days to teach the seller some sort of arbitrary lesson. You've clearly been on your phone/internet, in which time you could have marked the sale as ok. But you haven't, you're the one out of order, petty and cringe. Get a life.

CrispieCake · 09/04/2024 16:19

It's important to remember that Vinted is not a shop, it's ordinary people often with busy lives getting rid of their spare stuff for a little bit of extra cash.

And it's not like they can choose when you buy stuff so that it fits in with their lives. The stuff is listed, the listings stay up there and, days, weeks or months later, someone might buy something when you're not really expecting it.

I've had things not sent before and sellers apologising because they're away or they lost something or they just couldn't get to the shops. I've also had buyers who have been unable to pick things up and so they've come back to me. And it's all fine. I get a bit of spare cash and my DC's clothes second-hand and much cheaper than if I bought them new, but I neither expect nor provide a commercial service.

NewNameHello · 09/04/2024 16:31

Sounds like theyre skint and need the money. Just release it

What part of my post are you referring to?

or you just read other answers and went along with the majority?
My issue was never how long it took the buyer to send the parcel ….

You could have done it about 1000 times in the time you've spent on this ridiculous thread. Just do it.

xsquared · 10/04/2024 07:48

Have you confirmed receipt yet op?

I don't get which bit of the Vinted seller's behaviour pissed you off. Is it just that she's sent you a reminder at all to check the item and click confirm?

It seems like a very small thing to get pissed off about.

Socksey · 10/04/2024 07:54

I get it....
They posted in their own time, which was day 4 of the 5 allowed... so all fine.... they wanted confirmation within minutes of getting the delivery confirmation when OP may not even have seen the item etc as may not have been home when delivered.... they could have waited 24 hours etc.... or a little closer to the 2 days allowed, so not fine

Milkydumplings · 10/04/2024 07:57

You could have released the money in the time it’s taken you to be so angry about it.

Finedefinefine · 10/04/2024 07:58

Some people need money quite badly at the moment due to the cost of living crisis. I always open and confirm as soon as I receive a Vinted purchase.

murphys · 10/04/2024 08:06

I hope this is a fabrication of the truth, as if is this is really what causes someone to get this upset, I fear for the generation going forward. Its ridiculous.

So I am going with that it is a fabrication as I don't want to believe that entitlement has stretched this far.

Imagine being offended by a note 😂

A sender (seller) sends a parcel......
