Vinted seller has pissed me off

I’m usually chilled but this for some reason really took me off guard!

I ordered an item via Vinted and I waited 4 days for the item to be sent .. that’s ok I can’t do anything about it …. However, I got the item now and the seller wrote me a message saying “can you confirm that you got the item so I receive the payment “? What excuse me ?
Not a question like are you happy with the item ? You got 5 days to send and I have 2 days to confirm …. what’s the rush? This is not a business

what a cheeky …..

Sending requires wrapping and finding time to deliver to drop off point. In the time before sending the buyer has lost nothing- hasn’t paid anything.

By contrast, confirming receipt takes seconds on the app. Until the item is confirmed received in good condition the seller has no money and no item so is in a vulnerable position. Not comparable.

The buyer pays immediately on clicking pay and vinted hold the money until the transaction is completed @TimeandMotion so the only ones winning are vinted who earn interest on the money.

I generally click on confirm within 10 minutes of the parcel arriving - but sometimes I am not in so it has to wait until I am around to check the item is as described and I am happy to complete the transaction.

Buyers get 48hours to thoroughly check the item and raise an issue if need be.

I have had sellers message me, it really is unnecessary as buyers get emails and messages when it is being delivered, when it has been delivered and prompts to complete the transaction.

We all have busy lives and a bit of patience all round really would be good.

MargaretThursday · 09/04/2024 10:51

Anyone remember when everything was 28 days for delivery?

RedPony1 · 09/04/2024 10:51

You have to release money?! i used Vinted for the first time lastweek, received item on Saturday. Just been on the app and nothing on there about confirming receipt!? I dont want to hold any ones money up 😣

TheCheekyKoala · 08/04/2024 23:34

No it’s not. You pick it up, shove it in a bag and then go to the post office/corner shop.
It’s hardly a big effort.

I hope I don't accidentally buy anything from you!

It took me 20 minutes to package something yesterday for a Vinted sale. I didn't want it to get damaged in transit by crushing so had to find a way to protect it. Had I "shoved it in a bag" it would have been ruined.

It's also a car journey for me to get to any of the shipping options.

whatsbestforme · 09/04/2024 11:01

How Vinted run their app isn't the sellers fault though. Seller hasn't broken any rules.

Maybe he/she needs the money for something else and was worried that she'd sent something for no profit.

Be kind. I'm sure you'll understand when same happens to you.

Momstermunch · 09/04/2024 11:06

Your anger seems disproportionate to the offence to me. I don't see why her asking has offended you so much? I get why you haven't confirmed yet, I think that's fair enough, but she's only asking. Just ignore her or reply to say you haven't opened it yet but you'll respond within the allowed 2 days. Not a big deal really is it? Worthy of an eye roll maybe but not really rant worthy

@RedPony1 if you go to Vinted > Profile > My Orders > open up the order. It should say the status there and whether you need to do anything.

Little known fact... Vinted Ts &Cs demand that everything (everything!) is packaged up in a box. Not posted in a bag.

If not, the buyer can claim damage and they will get a full refund as well as keeping the item!

Theimpossiblegirl · 09/04/2024 11:41

People selling on vinted are often doing it because they need the money. They could be waiting to buy food or top up their electricity. I always confirm immediately.

feathermucker · 09/04/2024 11:47

It's really easy. You've received the item. You see the message. You BBC heck the item. You then click that everything's ok (or not, if there's a problem. There is literally nothing to be angry about. It isn't rude. It's a direct, simple question that has pissed you off for some unknown reason.

CointreauVersial · 09/04/2024 11:50

You're being dramatic.

If that's the worst issue Vinted has ever thrown at you, you're lucky.

This. You are being incredibly petty.

adarry · 09/04/2024 11:55

What a petty and unreasonable attitude. Four days to send is not unreasonable. They can see, via tracking, that you received the item, so have asked you to confirm this.

peakygold · 09/04/2024 11:55

I wish I knew your vinted ID so I could block you.

What absolute bilge.

55Sainz · 08/04/2024 23:42

You don't know their circumstances - they might be relying on that money for whatever reason.

Exactly. It's not usual to ask so I would wonder if they were in need of the money and would hurry to confirm receipt.

NonPlayerCharacter · 09/04/2024 12:00

It's an online car boot sale with the same sellers you'd get there; they're not professional businesses. It can be fabulous but you need the right expectations. If you get it on time and it's as described, it's a win; fabulous communications and customer service are nice but don't expect them.

Well not exactly....

I'm fairly new to Vinted so I just went and checked the packaging requirements.

"Use sturdy outer packaging — ideally, a cardboard box that fits the item’s size and weight. The box should be in good condition to protect the item from dirt and moisture during transit (i.e. avoid using regular paper bags). If an item is heavier than usual, we recommend using two or three layers of cardboard boxes."

heybearx · 09/04/2024 12:04

It's not really very rude... just confirm you've received it- could have done that in the time it takes to write up the complaint on here...

OnHerSolidFoundations · 09/04/2024 12:37

Meh

Littlepumkin · 09/04/2024 13:48

landscapepainter · 09/04/2024 06:53

This is a second hand marketplace, not Amazon Prime. 4 days is a completely reasonable time to post an item. The seller has to actually get to the post office/ drop off point to send it to you.

If you've received it and everything is OK then you need to confirm. Which involves pressing one button on your phone. It takes you less than 10 seconds.

YABU

exactly! So they have 5 days and buyers have 2 days so no need to rush me for the money and bother me with extra messages

If great comms and customer experience are important to you, Vinted isn't the place. It's an online jumble sale; there are some jewels and some brilliant sellers, but you're at a virtual car boot sale; adjust your expectations of seller interaction accordingly and don't take it personally.

Serene135 · 09/04/2024 13:57

The thing that irritates me the most on Vinted is when someone receives your item but doesn’t release the payment (which takes seconds). You are then waiting days for your money while they use your item. Sometimes they will also go on Vinted to browse for other things (you can see when when they last accessed the site) and they still don’t release the payment!

HaPPy8 · 09/04/2024 13:59

It’s a bit annoying but I imagine for them to do that they might be quite deep for money as others have said so I’d let it go. Perhaps they are having a hard time.

Petty as fuck. So what? You have 2 days. They have 5. Big whoop. Does it really matter? Like others have said they may really need the money to pay for food or bills. Stop being so bloody spiteful
