Vinted seller has pissed me off

I’m usually chilled but this for some reason really took me off guard!

I ordered an item via Vinted and I waited 4 days for the item to be sent .. that’s ok I can’t do anything about it …. However, I got the item now and the seller wrote me a message saying “can you confirm that you got the item so I receive the payment “? What excuse me ?
Not a question like are you happy with the item ? You got 5 days to send and I have 2 days to confirm …. what’s the rush? This is not a business

what a cheeky …..

Life must be hard for you.

It's frustrating as a seller waiting on the money but it's not something I'd hound somebody over. I'd imagine she's waiting on it to use it for something, some people are really struggling so side hustling can help to pay the bills.

I'd have just confirmed and moved on, I don't get the need for a war about it 🤷🏼‍♀️ it's annoying someone chasing you but just press confirm and she will go away....

@TheCheekyKoala

No it’s not. You pick it up, shove it in a bag and then go to the post office/corner shop.
It’s hardly a big effort.

When I sell clothes on Vinted, I don't just pick them up and shove them in a bag - I iron them if needed, fold them carefully, write a thank you card, and wrap them in tissue paper before I put them in a bag. I always try to post the day I sell something but often end up having to visit several banks of lockers to find an empty one or make another trip later once they've been emptied. I don't find the Inpost availability checker is very reliable.

I also always try to confirm that I'm happy with my purchases within a couple of hours of receiving them.

Sending requires wrapping and finding time to deliver to drop off point. In the time before sending the buyer has lost nothing- hasn’t paid anything.

By contrast, confirming receipt takes seconds on the app. Until the item is confirmed received in good condition the seller has no money and no item so is in a vulnerable position. Not comparable.

So you think people should open their parcel in the post office or outside the delivery boxes to check the item? I might pick it up at 9.30, not be home until I pick the kids up and then can't check it until they've gone to bed. I might pick it up, drop it home and then be away overnight and need to check it myself.

You say it wasn't about how long it took the seller to send the item, so why mention it, or in this way, in your OP.

Nothing cheeky about it. She must have needed the money quickly. I'd have taken it as a request to confirm receipt as soon as possible, not be put out, then start an irate thread, because I hadn't yet opened the parcel.

I often get messages from sellers asking me to confirm which I'm grateful for as I often forget.

I think it's quite usual practice x x

But the buyer hasn't gone anywhere ober night and even if they did, that would be the exception not the rule. I think I can count on one hand the number of times I've had a parcel and then left it a day to be opened. Thats the rule.

EnglishBluebell · 10/04/2024 19:06

I sent a message just like that the other day. Because if you as the buyer don't click 'Everything is ok' then Vinted makes me wait an extra 2 days for the money! Then a further day for it to transfer to bank!

EnglishBluebell · 10/04/2024 19:12

Was it a Monsoon jumpsuit by any chance OP?! As the day this thread was posted, I sent a very polite message on vinted to my buyer asking if they were happy with it as they'd had it delivered several days before Monday but even though in post marked it as delivered, vinted's system hadn't updated and marked it as delivered. Meaning until the buyer marks it as received, it wouldn't ever release the money!
