Vinted seller has pissed me off

I’m usually chilled but this for some reason really took me off guard!

I ordered an item via Vinted and I waited 4 days for the item to be sent .. that’s ok I can’t do anything about it …. However, I got the item now and the seller wrote me a message saying “can you confirm that you got the item so I receive the payment “? What excuse me ?
Not a question like are you happy with the item ? You got 5 days to send and I have 2 days to confirm …. what’s the rush? This is not a business

what a cheeky …..

Sorry op yabu. 4 days to send item is fine and it takes 10 seconds to open vinted and confirm so they get their money.

landscapepainter · 09/04/2024 06:53

This is a second hand marketplace, not Amazon Prime. 4 days is a completely reasonable time to post an item. The seller has to actually get to the post office/ drop off point to send it to you.

If you've received it and everything is OK then you need to confirm. Which involves pressing one button on your phone. It takes you less than 10 seconds.

Why are you getting so annoyed about this?

It takes you a few seconds.

flyingant · 09/04/2024 06:56

You're not penpals. Give them the money they're owed.
You have no idea how much they're relying on that money. Surely it's a given they mean for you to check the item first - you don't need to be told that.

Getorganized · 09/04/2024 07:32

You are being such a knob. I bet you find life constantly difficult and dramatic and wonder why.

Foostit · 09/04/2024 07:53

Bit of research would of helped before deciding to sale items on a app. Thought it was pretty obvious to check the settings 😂Don’t need a crystal ball, just a few brain cells.

That must be it, I’m clearly not as tech savvy or intelligent as you are. 🙄
You’re so lucky that you have such great insight and ability to predict problems before they happen. I’m also very jealous of the time you have on your hands to enable you to check app settings in detail.

I think I’d rather be a normal person who learns from their mistakes than someone who can’t accept that people actually have different opinions and experiences without resorting to insulting and belittling them as you have done on this thread. 😂

RiverFlowers · 09/04/2024 07:53

I have a buyer who hasn't confirmed "all ok" with their order, so it's just sat there until like midday today before the money get released - you can see they have been online from their last online status on Vinted, it's just being lazy by not hitting that button - but whatever, money goes through after 2 days and I am not desperate for it but for someone who was, I am sure it's really frustrating. It takes like a couple of seconds to do!

"Jesus. It isn't even slightly rude. What a thing to get worked up about. Why don't you just, you know, open the bloody parcel and confirm."

This. It's a total non issue .

Londonrach1 · 09/04/2024 07:59

Yabu. You got the package let the seller have the money.

TheCheekyKoala · 08/04/2024 23:34

No it’s not. You pick it up, shove it in a bag and then go to the post office/corner shop.
It’s hardly a big effort.

It is when you have to drag children with you and don’t have a local post office

LordSnot · 09/04/2024 08:00

Do you always overreact like this? Must be exhausting.

Princessfluffy · 09/04/2024 08:04

I've bought many items on Vinted and sold lots too.

This has only happened to me once OP and I found it very aggressive and didn't like it at all. You can ignore if you like and then they will get auto feedback and payment 2 days after delivery.

Generally I try to check items the same day but this is not always possible, so it's quite often the following day or sometimes it goes to auto feedback.

My aggressive seller threatened bad feedback if I didn't confirm that I was satisfied immediately.

Assuming you have a corner shop. I live semi-rurally and can only post at weekends. If you order on a Sunday evening, you’re going to have to wait until Saturday before I can send it.

I order from Vinted several times a month for a couple of years. I have never waited more than an hour to confirm. I have the item, so the seller needs to get paid.

Livelifelaughter · 09/04/2024 08:12

I don't think 4 days is a rule but "most sellers send in 4 days" I bought something on 6 and the Vinted message is the seller has until 15 to send. I have noticed things take a lot longer to send through Vinted than eBay.

Sending something in 4 days would be pretty good!

"very aggressive" Madness * *How do some people get through life ?

I received the item I didn’t even have a chance to open it … and I was asked to release money ….

like wait a second what if the item is damaged and not as described? They have 5 days & I have 2 days as buyers are busy as well …

When this happens, I just ignore the email.
I am not going to confirm it's all fine if I haven't had a chance to check it yet.
The fact they took a few days to send it is irrelevant. Some people send straight away, but vinted can have items on there for ages and ages. Listings don't expire quickly like eBay, so they might not be expecting to be ready to post at a moments notice. 4 days is reasonable.

You're overthinking it. They are clearly busy. You are clearly busy. It's online selling. Confirming it gets their money released quicker, but it's not obligatory, but it's quite a good system for the buyer as well, as you get a couple of days to check that it's satisfactory, and if it's not, you can raise a dispute before they are paid, which is a big disincentive for ripping you off. That's why it's so much better than eBay imo.

Princessfluffy · 09/04/2024 08:45

@HarrietPierce they didn't just say "please can you leave feedback asap"

There was a whole spiel about what they would do if you don't.

LakeFlyPie · 09/04/2024 08:49

TimeandMotion · 08/04/2024 23:29

Sending requires wrapping and finding time to deliver to drop off point. In the time before sending the buyer has lost nothing- hasn’t paid anything.

By contrast, confirming receipt takes seconds on the app. Until the item is confirmed received in good condition the seller has no money and no item so is in a vulnerable position. Not comparable.

Exactly this, takes seconds to confirm receipt on app

Itloggedmeoutagain · 09/04/2024 08:51

Open parcel check item send message
You could have that done in the time it takes to boil a kettle

PoppyCherryDog · 09/04/2024 10:00

Sasqwatch · 09/04/2024 10:06

Get a grip OP 🙄

isthismylifenow · 09/04/2024 10:13

I really do not understand what has upset you so much.

I am not in the UK but we also have a Vinted type app and it seems to work the same. I have sold quite a lot and when people are new and bought for the first time, quite a lot of the time they don't realize they have to click on received in order for the payment to be released. It is hardly rude. She is just asking you do this. Obviously if you are not happy with the item, then you won't. But that is not the usual case.

I have had to message people and ask them to click on received as they didn't know they had to. I think you are really overreacting.

Like now I am waiting patiently for someone to release my funds and they haven't yet. And I need the funds to go towards something else. I would rather it be paying my bill now than sitting where I can't access it for a few more days.

So I will also be asking.

JackSpaniels · 09/04/2024 10:22

Here you can't do yodel on Sundays or most of Monday
Impost lockers are regularly full at the start of the week
4 days is perfectly ok
Doesnt sound like you are a Vinted person- maybe stick to Harrods or send the butler out in future

doglover90 · 09/04/2024 10:43

I feel guilty because I live in a place where parcels are delivered centrally and it takes up to a day for the parcel to come to me. So the app will say I've received the item, but in reality it won't be until the next day. It makes me look like I'm not bothered about the seller getting paid!

YouwouldthinkIhavemoresense · 09/04/2024 10:44

Cazpar · 08/04/2024 23:14

You have the item, let them have their money.

I agree with this.
