to ask how to get such luminous skin?

luminescentskin · 30/03/2024 18:17

I was in a supermarket a while ago and I saw a young woman with the most glowing/luminous skin I have ever seen. She was not wearing any make up. It did not look like she was wearing any 'product' on it either if that makes sense. Her skin almost glittered. I have honestly never seen skin like it.

Has anyone else seen anything like that? How could I get such glowing skin? (without makeup because it just would not look natural). TIA

Tretinoin? I’m 41 and my skin is way more glowey than it was at 20. Here is me with no make up. It’s a fucking wonder product

You are so pretty!

PeanutCat1 · 31/03/2024 22:09

Elemis Superfood Glow is absolutely fantastic, I swear by it. Use it on top of my moisturiser every single day and it just makes my skin look hydrated and glowy. When I was pregnant I used to get so many compliments about my glowing skin but I secretly knew it was just the Elemis as my skin was awful in pregnancy!

PeanutCat1 · 31/03/2024 22:13

Just to add, I do find that it's best to apply by gently smoothing onto the face as it can pill if you rub it in too vigorously, even with well exfoliated skin.

MrSlant · 31/03/2024 22:19

I am hurtling toward 50 but frequently get told I am 'glowing', I drink a lot of water, use hylaronic acid products and similar, I also eat a shed load of veg/pulses/olive oil BUT I also put a teeny tiny amount of this on my cheeks every morning too. Would love to think it's the water and food but who am I kidding, it's this magic. I just smile and say thank you and keep this stuff to myself Grin

It does seem expensive but I use microscopic amounts because it is packed with the glowy shit, would expect the tube to last me a year at least.

Can I ask do you work out at all and do you drink alcohol?

The only thing I’ve noticed that gives a noticeable ethereal glow is sunscreen. I also use vitamin C (am) and tret (pm) but I think my skin looks no different until my sunscreen’s on.

Some might call it ‘white cast’ but I have a mineral sunscreen that once rubbed in makes my skin look….pearlescent, especially if I put quite a lot on.

I think the woman you saw was wearing makeup if you noticed her. There are very subtle highlighters now that amaze me.

What sunscreen do you use?

SunshinDay · 01/04/2024 07:13

Tretonin how do you get it?

I'm in Spain can I buy there

ASighMadeOfStone · 01/04/2024 07:24

It's called Retirides in Spain and you can still get it OTC in some pharmacies, but not all. You need a very low dose to begin with and build up gradually.

nottoday300 · 01/04/2024 07:25

@OooScotland which sunscreen do you use please ? I need glowy skin !!

SunshinDay · 01/04/2024 07:28

@PeanutCat1 it can what if you rub it in too vigorously?

Pill.
It's when products contain silicones and so bits of product tend to ball up with skin cells and rub off.

Alondra · 01/04/2024 07:58

She was likely wearing an illuminating cream. It's been the best beauty secret for glowing skin.

The majority use it as a primer under the makeup but many young people use it on top of the moisturiser without make up at all.

SunshinDay · 01/04/2024 08:13

@ASighMadeOfStone thank you

And in UK how does one get it

ASighMadeOfStone · 01/04/2024 08:16

There are sign up subscription services for it. Skin and Me and Dermatica are two of them. Lots of MNers use them and will have discount codes for a starter trial. (if you use their code they'll also get a freebie or discount but often forget to tell you that I've noticed...)

I don't use tret anymore but bought mine online from Tretinoin world.

MrSlant · 01/04/2024 09:54

@apcavcwtf I go to the gym (gotta lift to get through menopause without my bones crumbling to dust) but alcohol is my one vice left! Wouldn't be fair on people to not have one, my skin would probably so good people would think I was AI Easter Wink

kkloo · 01/04/2024 05:16

What sunscreen do you use?

She could actually have been wearing sunscreen which gave her that glow. I never thought of that. I'm still on the fence about the illuminating cream because most illuminating creams I have seen have a white sheen to them. She did not have that at all. I really wish I had asked her what she uses now.

luminescentskin · 01/04/2024 10:52

I use suncream on a daily basis but it always feels really thick and icky on my skin. Why could it feel that way?

Just popped in to say i absolutely love this thread. I'm
obsessed with skin care , and finding loads of good advice and products!

For me my skin glows after facials , Hydro facial, PRP ( vampire facial ) , microneedling etc

But now i'm going to start applying illuminating primer over my skin care routine , great advice ❤️

ChristmasCwtch · 01/04/2024 11:29

@luminescentskin you probably just need to try different types of sunscreen. Some are too sticky and don’t blend well.

I started a new beauty regime after Christmas and my skin is looking better than ever:

  • Kate Somerville HydraKate serum is fantastic
  • I like the lightness and finish of the Trinny BFF cream (there’s a slight hint of colour)
  • the Aldi dupe of my usual Clinque concealer is very good
  • Benefit Dandelion blush and Dandelion Twinkle add a nice glow
  • I’ve been using Ancient & Brave collagen and Viviscal hair supplements for the past 3 months and really pleased
  • I also drink 3 litres of water a day
  • no coffee
  • no alcohol
  • 8 hours sleep

Youth. Exfoliating acid to remove dull dead skin cells. Retinol to increase skin turnover and make it look fresher.

biedrona · 01/04/2024 13:08

I'm surprised nobody mentions the need for an spf!
