to ask how to get such luminous skin?

I was in a supermarket a while ago and I saw a young woman with the most glowing/luminous skin I have ever seen. She was not wearing any make up. It did not look like she was wearing any 'product' on it either if that makes sense. Her skin almost glittered. I have honestly never seen skin like it.

Has anyone else seen anything like that? How could I get such glowing skin? (without makeup because it just would not look natural). TIA

I had comments about this when younger.
I'm olive skinned and always moisturise.
That's it really.
It could well be youth 😂 and genes x

Skin boosters, a years worth of moisturiser in 1 session.

Where can I buy that? Is there a specific brand I should buy from?

Could she have been pregnant. My skin was radiant in my first pregnancy.

She could have been. She did not look it though.

Glossier future dew

Moonshine5 · 30/03/2024 21:35

@Livedandlearned do you mind saying which collagen supplement brand you use?

novocaine4thesoul · 30/03/2024 21:43

Not everyone has good skin at 20-22, but many do, so age might be the biggest factor in this case. I think after that it is a bit of a lottery of (in order, and just my opinion) a) genes (by far the biggest factor if you discount age) b) weight c) what you do to yourself (sleep, water, food, impact of sun, smoking, alcohol, stress) d) what you apply to yourself (cremes, "interventions" etc). I think some CC creams can be quite effective (estee lauder's revitalising CC creme is very good and "dewy and natural" but it is £44) finding the right foundation that matches your skin is probably very helpful. x

Moonshine5 · 30/03/2024 21:45

@El13 what is a booster?

It's Solgar, you can get it from Holland & Barrett on subscription for a good price or direct from Solgar.

I also had one from Just Vitamins that was pretty good.

Livedandlearned · 30/03/2024 21:47

Also a nice cleanse and thick moisturiser before bed helps.

bryceQ · 30/03/2024 21:47

I think my skin glows and I rarely wear makeup.

I use lots of hydrating products, never had spots, Tret at night, vit c morning, Spf 50 since my mid twenties. Lots of water and healthy low processed diet.

MadamVastra · 30/03/2024 21:48

I had profhilio and after two weeks my skin was like glass and really glowy

too bad it hurt like hell and you need to keep having it at £300 a pop

I would consider it again though for a special event

MadamVastra · 30/03/2024 21:50

Also the hot flushes bring a certain glow!

Foxlover46 · 30/03/2024 21:54

@TheFormidableMrsC my first thoughts too 😂😂

hendoop · 30/03/2024 21:55

I get compliments, re my skin and I can not rate dermatologica highly enough- had about 4 angry spots in various places constantly through adulthood, until 5 years ago when I started it

For brightness i love niacinamide serum - the ordinary do this.

Japan infusion is also good from beauty pie.

I do sport daily and if I wear makeup (often don't) I use the beauty pie tinted moisturiser which has good coverage but is glowy.

Always use factor 50 sun cream on face and 30 everywhere else

hendoop · 30/03/2024 21:57

Oh and I have a lot of protein and collagen in supplement form ( warrior protein water)

ChampagneLassie · 30/03/2024 22:00

I get complimented a fair amount and like other posters I drink lots of water, look after my skin and have lots of veg and good fats. However I am generally wearing very lightweight primer/base that people think I’m not wearing makeup. I look much better with it

Powderblue1 · 30/03/2024 22:00

Tretinoin. It's been got a name, the 'tret glow'. I'm almost 40 and get complimented on my skin a lot

SurelySmartie · 30/03/2024 22:07

Peaceandquietandacuppa · 30/03/2024 21:34

Glossier future dew

Or MAC Strobe Cream

Iamuhtredsonofuhtred · 30/03/2024 22:20

Tretinoin? I’m 41 and my skin is way more glowey than it was at 20. Here is me with no make up. It’s a fucking wonder product

I've got many flaws, but my skin isn't one of them. It's totally clear, glowing and fairly line-free considering my age.
I:

  • have inherited good genes
  • drink a lot of water
  • eat a diet very low in UPFs, with lots of veg and salad
  • eat tonnes of good fats every day - olive oil, avocados, raw cashews
  • sleep with the windows open, even in minus degrees
  • get fresh air and exercise every day

I only use a Simple cleanser and Nivea Soft moisturiser and only ever have. I'm all about the lifestyle and not the products.

oh i like the idea of windows open , but even in cold months ? Don't you get sick ? freezing in January, i'd defo get sick

Albertslittletie · 30/03/2024 22:56

Jumping on to ask the skincare babes - what products do you use? What’s a good retinol for a beginner with dry/sensitive skin!?

Lamelie · 30/03/2024 23:34

Mine is better than it ever has been- I’d never had compliments before using London Road.
Lots of water, windows open and mainly vegan diet. Low, not underweight bmi. Not even perimenopausal at 55.

Beasmum4 · 30/03/2024 23:47

SkyBloo · 30/03/2024 18:58

My skin is pretty good. I think down to:

  1. genetics/luck
  2. been pretty careful about sun exposure - lots of time outdoors but avoid sun at peak
  3. drink lots of water, eat fruit & veg
  4. i get enough healthy fats and oils, don't subscribe to "low fat" anything
  5. use very few products. Soap and water, occasionally an inexpensive basic moisturiser.
  6. wear very little makeup
  7. I'm not the thinnest of the thin. Currently a size 14 and notice that when i drop to a 10, my body looks better (in all honesty) at the expense of my face.

Yeah whenever my skin is surprisingly looking nice and plump I always jump on the scales to find out why…..

OooScotland · 31/03/2024 00:05

The only thing I’ve noticed that gives a noticeable ethereal glow is sunscreen. I also use vitamin C (am) and tret (pm) but I think my skin looks no different until my sunscreen’s on.

Some might call it ‘white cast’ but I have a mineral sunscreen that once rubbed in makes my skin look….pearlescent, especially if I put quite a lot on.

I think the woman you saw was wearing makeup if you noticed her. There are very subtle highlighters now that amaze me.

No, never, I've done it my whole life.
I like to be in a cold bedroom under a warm feather duvet. I think it keeps illnesses at bay actually.
