I’ve reported this TikTok psycho to his employer?

I’m not sure if I should’ve done this and I’m having some regrets now. Last night, got into a bit of a spat on TikTok my first ever and I’m embarrassed.

Saw a video of a man building a “titanic” slide for his kids where he got them to slide and then pretend they were dying. Lots of comments, and in my wine and emotional (period) state I commented that it wasn’t really funny as over 2000 people died in the titanic including children. That was it.

Two hours later check my phone and he’s sent me a barrage of abuse, including saying I should shut my mouth, get my face to take a shit? And then he hopes I die in a fatal car crash and that I get raped and murdered and that I’ve made a “fatal mistake”. Truly vile in comparison to my comments about the titanic. He had blocked me so I couldn’t respond, not that I would’ve wanted to instigate it or bothered.

So I go onto his page to have a nosy, and he’s got his full pics and videos of him playing with kids, and videos of him working for his employer including a badge and their name- so in my fury I emailed his employer telling them that this kind of person is saying these things and representing their brand and that violence against women even suggestive isn’t on. I attached a screenshot of some of the comments.

Now I feel a bit stupid and nervous this morning as it was only a TikTok spat and I’ve escalated it, at the same time why do men get away with speaking to you like that? I didn’t have anything identifying in my email or TikTok to my name or location.

He deserves it. What disgusting comments.

1offnamechange · 20/03/2024 09:31

This guy sounds absolutely unhinged
To build a slide like that in the first place and get your kids to pretend to die on it is weird....surely the kids would have just ad much fun on a normal slide?
Then to put that online
And then to go completely OTT when you made a very reasonable comment.
Not the sign of someone who is mentally well.
I think you did the right thing but like another poster i would have also considered contacting the police.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 20/03/2024 09:33

Good for you OP. What a nasty woman hating man he is. I'd have been extremely upset at that barrage of abuse also.

Mrsjayy · 20/03/2024 09:36

I've just had a Google and apparently the titanic slide is a viral thing who woulda thought!

HelloMiss · 20/03/2024 09:08

Women can and do behave like that also, it's not exclusively a 'man'thing

Sounds unhinged, be careful

I don't think anyone has said that women never act like this ? So not entirely relevant to this thread? Although rape comments I'm pretty confident are 99.999999% dished out by men.

Biker47 · 20/03/2024 09:28

If he's stupid enough that people are ale to identify his employer when he's posted videos, he deserves anything coming to him, especially after harassing someone.

This

Thick in addition to being a misogynistic prick

KrisAkabusi · 20/03/2024 09:40

Children did die in the titanic and it isn’t funny. The same as it wouldn’t be funny if they were re-enacting any other tragedy such as 9/11 etc!

Tragedy + Time = Comedy

Obviously people will make less jokes about 9/11 as it is so recent and there are survivors still alive. But Titanic was over 100 years ago so it's considered fair game. It's the same as the thread last week where someone was asking why it's OK to have Jack The Chipper fish and chip shops, but not Harold Chipman. Because time has removed the immediacy and any connection to currently living people.

GlitchStitch · 20/03/2024 09:40

Why would this be your first thought? And I've never heard of a woman telling a man she hopes they get raped and murdered. There are whole websites dedicated to the abuse and threats men dish out though, it happens so often.

Couldyounot · 20/03/2024 09:44

Guy sounds like a fuckwit who will shortly learn that poor choices lead to adverse consequences.

HelloMiss · 20/03/2024 09:47

@tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz upthread someone did

And hey, I'll post what I like.... relevant or otherwise

aurynne · 20/03/2024 09:56

I wouldn't report him to his work. I would report him to the police, because the comments include stuff that will be considered hate crime and threats. What a bloody psycho!

IncompleteSenten · 20/03/2024 09:58

Saying you've made a fatal mistake could be interpreted as a threat to your life.

GuessThatGranny · 20/03/2024 10:00

I would also report it to the police, personally. The origins of your comment and intent seem observation, his comments sound like a threat.

AmaryllisChorus · 20/03/2024 10:00

I hope he can't track you down in the way you tracked him down. He sounds dangerous.

AmaryllisChorus · 20/03/2024 10:01

IncompleteSenten · 20/03/2024 09:58

Yeah, should be. The police go round to TERFs houses over far less volatile self-expression online. I wonder if this will get taken seriously or not...

Irrelevant. What’s that got to do with anything? The perpetrator in this situation is a man.

@tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz upthread someone did

Just checked back and can't see someone saying a woman wouldn't day that? So o thought it was an odd comment to make on a thread about a man being disgustingly abusive to a woman.

But absolutely feel free to post what you like, of course. I wasn't suggesting otherwise.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 20/03/2024 10:05

Ahhhh apologies you may be referring to the OPs last sentence, fair play.

Odd that's your first take on such a nasty experience is all.

You did the right thing, congrats to you for not putting up with the abuse and denouncing this man who treats women and children so appallingly. I would post the screen shot on his tick tock comments.

WalkingThroughTreacle · 20/03/2024 10:06

You really must report this to the police now. He sounds psychotic and he will know it was you that reported him to his employer. Unless he is half way round the world from you, I would not rule out anything.

Yeah, it's here on Mumsnet by the bucket load.

But you did right, OP - actions, allow me to present consequences.

WillimNot · 20/03/2024 10:10

You did exactly the right thing
He's bringing their company into disrepute and I bet he has form, just has yet to have someone do what you've done.

It also falls under the malicious communication act so please do report to the police as well. Him saying you've made a fatal error could be construed as a death threat, don't let him get away with it.

Oreosareawful · 20/03/2024 10:12

YANBU

We have social media policies in place for anything like this that can reflect badly on the company. He deserves everything he gets for reacting like that. I hope they throw the book at him.

stealthninjamum · 20/03/2024 10:13

Well done op, people shouldn’t get away with this kind of stuff.

rwalker · 20/03/2024 10:14

should of reported online to police not his employer
