Who folds up your sofa throws at the end of the night?

We have invested in 2 gorgeous velvet sofas from Loaf. They look gorgeous when the cushions are plumped and the throw blankets are folded.

I often go up first and ask DH and kids to tidy away blankets and arrange throw cushions (2 on each sofa) before coming up. 9/10 they don’t which just makes the room look crap. So it falls to me every morning. Tbh I’m the only one that cares.

What happens in your house?

I generally do it before going to bed.

FuzzyPuffling · 13/03/2024 10:15

I've got Loaf velvet sofas too. ( They are really easy to spot clean btw).

I fold the throws in the morning. It takes about 2 seconds and I couldn't get worked up about it.

MyBigFatGreekSalad · 13/03/2024 10:16

I can't really say we have a throw/ cushion routine. I guess whoever is tidying the lounge would tidy the cushions if they needed to be Confused

Brainded · 13/03/2024 10:16

Single parent…so me…

FrenchandSaunders · 13/03/2024 10:17

This is a bugbear in my house .... glasses/coffee cups left on the side, throws on the floor, cushions skewed. They'd live in a tip if I died.

GoofyGoldie · 13/03/2024 10:17

Same as yours. I go to bed first, which means when I get up in the morning I tidy the throws & cushions as hubby & teens can't seem to manage!
I don't even ask them to fold them all, a couple go in the pouffee but it seems that's too hard for them too!

Everydayimhuffling · 13/03/2024 10:17

Anyone who notices/can be bothered. We definitely don't do it every day.

ComtesseDeSpair · 13/03/2024 10:17

I tidy the sofa and plump the cushions if I’m off to bed last, if DH is last he doesn’t because he doesn’t care. It’s no biggie, I then do it in the morning. It really is one of those inconsequential examples where the most fastidious person who gives a shit has to expect to shoulder the task.

Twentypastfour · 13/03/2024 10:18

Yep it’s whoever is tidying I guess. We only have a throw on the sofa for added warmth/ comfort though.

There are some things in a home that need doing - like clothes in the washing basket, dishwasher filled, mess tidied away etc etc but I think folding a throw is surely just so cosmetic that the people who do it should be care about it.

DappledThings · 13/03/2024 10:18

Nobody. Sometimes I fold the blankets in the morning, sometimes they just stay where they are. Cushions get chucked back on a couple of times a day but actually plumped and re-arranged about once a month.

None of us are bothered by it.

Freakinfraser · 13/03/2024 10:18

I do it when I get up. As I get up first and go to bed first. To be honest, my husband would have no issue with them just laying there.

Opol · 13/03/2024 10:18

It’s just annoying as it’s another “me only job” to add to the list.

I’m the only one that folds throws and plumps cushions in our house.

BaronessBomburst · 13/03/2024 10:19

DH - never
DS - daily, when prompted. Results may vary.
Me - every evening and throughout the day at weekends

I think that's fair in this instance. It's only aesthetic as opposed to hygenic so if nobody else is bothered I don't think they should have to be.

for me it’s a job I chose to do, as it is simply aesthetics.

susiedaisy1912 · 13/03/2024 10:20

It's me. It's always been me and it will be me until the end of time.

LoveSkaMusic · 13/03/2024 10:21

I want pics! I've reached the age where the thought of a new sofa is exciting :-)

Opol · 13/03/2024 10:21

I’ve also tried to get them all to shove the blankets in to the ottoman if they can’t be arsed to be folded. Even that is too much.

I don’t think it’s too much to ask to expect to come down to a tidy room.

YABU for using the word “invested” when you mean bought.

TedMullins · 13/03/2024 10:22

no one. We’ve got dogs so we leave the throws covering the sofa to keep it clean and it get a steadily more skrunkly from being sat on over the course of a week or two. Then I wash it and put a fresh one on. I’m really not arsed about folding and plumping

araiwa · 13/03/2024 10:22

Nobody

wetotter · 13/03/2024 10:22

DDog sleeps on the sofa, so if we ever straighten it, it's in the morning.

Octavia64 · 13/03/2024 10:22

Nobody.
I use the throws and I really don't care about folding them up.

This is not essential housekeeping.

Cbljgdpk · 13/03/2024 10:23

Same Here mostly because I’m the only one that is bothered by it.
