Who folds up your sofa throws at the end of the night?

We have invested in 2 gorgeous velvet sofas from Loaf. They look gorgeous when the cushions are plumped and the throw blankets are folded.

I often go up first and ask DH and kids to tidy away blankets and arrange throw cushions (2 on each sofa) before coming up. 9/10 they don’t which just makes the room look crap. So it falls to me every morning. Tbh I’m the only one that cares.

What happens in your house?

I have a tidy up before bed (just the 2 of us here). I fluff up the cushions, put bleach down the toilet, fold the throws, move any cup/banana peel/apple core my husband has left on the coffee table.

We both like a neatly folded blanket on each sofa and straight cushions. each morning it's tidy.

(He folds them wrong but I don't mention that😂)

@OP do you also have one of those beds with a throw and cushions all over it that have to be taken off at bed time and rearranged every morning?

Edited

I have 1 throw and 2 cushions that get arranged each morning. Like to tighten the sheets also. Makes me feel like I have things in control. Also like the feeling of ticking a job off each day.

Hubby does a rough shake and that’s it.
Me, throws folded, cushions plumped, foot stool put back near sofa.
Pots washed and put away. Sides wiped.
Jesus wept I’ve got OCD but I can’t sleep with an untidy house.

I think there is a difference between tidying and cleaning a house and then presentation of a house. Arranging throws to me would fall in the latter category - nice to do if you want everything to look just so but not necessary for daily living. With that in mind i’d say whoever is obsessed about things looking ‘right’ and presented in order to feel good and in control ought to be the one doing it.

I.e -you.

When it comes to the actual housework and cleaning tasks that should be shared across the household in an appropriate way.

😂 peak mumsnet

Me, apart from once a week our cleaner does it. I don't fold, just chuck down side of sofa and puck cushions up off floor often

Favouritefruits · 13/03/2024 16:22

It’s me, usual the next morning! Nobody seems to tidy/clean anything apart from me!

mumda · 13/03/2024 16:45

I just leave them until I return to my sofa nest the next evening.

I am not houseproud though.

So why are you whinging about it being your job?

Bobbotgegrinch · 13/03/2024 18:11

DPs sister is the only one who does it in our house. She catsits when we're away and we come home to find them nicely folded up. The other 360 days of the year they go unfolded.

If you're the only one that cares about them looking tidy @Opol , then of course you're the one who's going to end up tidying them, why is it anyone else's problem?
