Who folds up your sofa throws at the end of the night?

We have invested in 2 gorgeous velvet sofas from Loaf. They look gorgeous when the cushions are plumped and the throw blankets are folded.

I often go up first and ask DH and kids to tidy away blankets and arrange throw cushions (2 on each sofa) before coming up. 9/10 they don’t which just makes the room look crap. So it falls to me every morning. Tbh I’m the only one that cares.

What happens in your house?

We leave the sofa throws on every night.
They get washed about every 3 weeks.
We don't have pets.

Anyone who notices/can be bothered. We definitely don't do it every day.

Same

Don't think I care enough about this truthfully

Suspect you probably always do because none of your family care about it as much

Qwertyyui · 13/03/2024 13:05

I do as its only me and the child but some days I do some I don't! Very dependent on my mood!

GLC789 · 13/03/2024 13:14

I always go up before DH. He 95% of the time tidies the lounge before joining me.

Same rule for making the bed. Last one to get up makes it. Granted, when it's him, I pop in an hour later to re-make it 😭👀 x

CrispFanatic · 13/03/2024 13:22

Me. I know how I like them so I’m not bothered about doing it.

I'm trying to imagine a world where anyone even thinks about this never mind frets themself silly. Too weird for words.

I don’t think anyone is fretting themselves silly. I also don’t think it’s weird that some people care
about this? Different people care about different things, it’s not too hard to imagine!

WatchandWaitorNot · 13/03/2024 13:44

@OP do you also have one of those beds with a throw and cushions all over it that have to be taken off at bed time and rearranged every morning?

We don’t bother unless someone is coming over, the living room is covered with toys anyway.

99victoria · 13/03/2024 13:56

I never fold mine! Seriously, who sees or cares? 😁

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 13/03/2024 14:01

No kids any more, just me and dh. I do it in the morning. Takes seconds.
He does plenty of other jobs, before anyone asks.

Scarlettpixie · 13/03/2024 14:03

There is just me and my 17 yo.

Mostly neither of us bother of an evening. I tidy them when the mood takes me and on a Saturday morning. He will do it if I ask but rarely of his own volition.

At the minute my throw is out, my sons is folded. Cushions are on their respective sofas but out of place.

I am fine with it.

The reason this falls to you is you are the one bothered by it. It is barely a ‘job’. Takes a couple mins max.

kitsuneghost · 13/03/2024 14:06

We don't generally care
We leave the blankets lying on the sofa for when we get home

CharlotteBog · 13/03/2024 14:07

I have a large crocheted blanket that I use in the evening. I fold it myself before I go to bed. This is because I am the last one up and I am a lone parent.

There are many challenges being a lone parent - this isn't one of them!

Gettingonmygoat · 13/03/2024 14:08

Take the throws away and tell them they are not having them back until they promise to leave the room tidy, do they leave their glasses and cups in there too ?

LenaLamont · 13/03/2024 14:10

randomchap · 13/03/2024 11:00

No one, the cats need somewhere to sleep.

Exactly this!

Blankspace35 · 13/03/2024 14:14

me because im the one who uses blankets downstairs

You wouldn't be able to bribe me with blankets. If someone said they were taking mine unless I folded them, I'd say ok, bye then blankets.

Just being honest!

Shallana · 13/03/2024 14:47

Whoever is down last. Not really a set pattern. If it's forgotten, then whoever is up first in the morning.

hiredandsqueak · 13/03/2024 14:49

Dd tidies the throw the dog sleeps on whilst I let her out for a wee. I do the cushions and other throw before going up to bed as I'm the only one who would care. I'm always the last in bed and the first up here anyway.

RosePombear · 13/03/2024 14:58

Me, but I like them a specific way and I enjoy doing it.

ApolloandDaphne · 13/03/2024 15:01

My DH is the folder/plumper. I just wander off to bed and leave everything in a heap. When I come down in the morning it all looks perfect. He does the same in the kitchen. He is a wonder.

SpringleDingle · 13/03/2024 15:04

I'm a single parent so me (or mostly no-one because the dog is sitting on them!)

ErrolTheDragon · 13/03/2024 15:06

Nobody. I sometimes vaguely tidy them up a bit and rearrange the cushions, usually do it before my zoom Pilates class.
