To have really long hair in my 40s?

Recently turned 40 and have long blonde hair (past my boobs) and don’t feel comfortable with it now at my age. Although it’s healthy hair and people often say I look younger than my age I feel almost uncomfortable with it on me now whereas loved it in my 20s and 30s

have booked to get it cut next week 🤣

I don’t like the look some women have (long hair fillers Botox dressing as if in 20s) like desperately clinging to youth. I think it’s far more classy to have short/medium length hair, less make up etc

just wondered what others opinions are?

btw no offence to anyone who’s older with long hair it’s just how I feel about it on myself

Oh well, if such an important personage as yourself thinks short hair is gross then of course OP shouldn't have their hair cut, and those of us who already have short hair will cancel all future appointments. Heaven forbid we should look "unladylike". 🤔

I’m 45 and my hair is just below my ears, but that’s because I had a little peroxide accident last year due to watching rugby on TV and not setting an alarm… so I just went and got a grade 3 to take it back to basics. (Cheap too!)

It’s just bloody hair after all! Also I manage to have a full time job and perform as a normal member of society believe it or not. This whole nonsense of older women and long hair is just that - nonsense - look at Jane Seymour. Gorgeous woman, gorgeous hair.

Just my opinion but, I'm about to turn 38 and I'm actually keen to grow my hair a bit. Currently just over shoulder length but I'd like it at least two/three inches longer. I'm also 60% grey already (yay to genes!) I a) don't care about my age when it comes to my hair, I'm not dying it because I'm extremely lazy and tight tbh 😁 b) wouldn't give a shit what others think c) embrace the getting older stuff, I mean I am....Getting older. I've worked hard to keep it conditioned so it's soft and kept tidy, the rest is biology.

But you literally said your mid 40s skin frightens people- those were your own words. So, why is your face frightening people?- have you had people react badly to your face?

It sounds awful if people are recoiling from your face. I guess I'm lucky that I look younger than I am and get lots of compliments -although I have taken very good care of my skin so that helps too, hence I'm aware that not everyone does.

What on earth has hair length got to do with age? The notion that long hair is wrong on older women is deeply misogynistic

This is just as ridiculous as the idea that long hair is only for younger women.

I'm 51 and my hair is past my bra strap, it's also grey and I've now grown my colour out, sod what other people think, if you like it, keep it long
