Are leggings really comfy?

If they were genuinely comfy then why wouldn't men wear them?

Not much room for the twig and berries, I reckon.

HumerousHumous · 29/02/2024 22:55

Yes. I wear them in my 50s as wearing jeans feels like wearing stiff cardboard and I like soft materials and nothing uncomfortable around the middle. They're also very slimming.

Men would look ridiculous in them.

MissingMoominMamma · 29/02/2024 22:56

Some men do. Running type leggings.

Finlesswonder · 29/02/2024 22:57

Well I wear leggings but now I'm starting to wonder if it's "anti feminist", to be honest I find tracksuit bottoms comfier

So wear tracksuit bottoms then 🤷‍♀️

Had to laugh at 'anti feminist' though 😁!

My thermal heatgen leggings are like a comfort blanket

DevaleraSpawnOfSatan · 29/02/2024 23:09

I love them, but will only wear them around the house, they were the height of fashion in the early 90’s, by the time I tried to get back into jeans I had gained about twelfty million stone.

So I always leave the house in something with a waistband.

EricaJohns · 29/02/2024 23:19

I don't think men look right in leggings tbh.

There's nothing wrong with men wearing leggings.
If more men wore them and it became just a normal thing, it wouldn't bother me at all.. but I til then, it just looks a bit odd.

Meggings? Is that the same as jeggings?

ZetuianRose · 29/02/2024 23:26

I live in active wear leggings these days. Partly because they’re comfiest and partly in case I get a lifeboat call and need to throw a drysuit on top of them.

“anti-feminist”? What actual crackpottery is this 🙄

Finlesswonder · 29/02/2024 23:27

Men wear leggings for sport sure but I just don't see them feeling okay about going to buy coffee or post a letter with their ass crack wafting around.

Can't decide whether they are missing out or not

Haha twig and berries !! Love it 🤣😬

YouTulip · 29/02/2024 23:28

They must be comfortable, but I think they mostly look dreadful. Maybe I’m just mildly bemused by jeans, which used to be what you slobbed around in, having suddenly turned into quasi-formal, uncomfortable, restrictive garments.

Strawberrycheesecake7 · 29/02/2024 23:29

I find them very comfortable. I wear them most days if I’m just at home or not going to be seeing anyone. I like to wear skirts or dresses if I’m going out somewhere. I’ve never really liked trousers. I find jeans very uncomfortable and I have short legs so any trousers tend to be too long. I find leggings fit better.

Xmasbaby11 · 29/02/2024 23:32

Nothing is as comfy as a tracksuit or loungewear, though leggings are good too. However all of these are so unflattering to my size 20 figure - I wouldn’t wear them out of the house except for the gym!

ButWhatAboutTheBees · 29/02/2024 23:39

Men do wear them

And frankly it's a weird thing to think is anti-feminist

They are very comfy and active wear type ones are thick enough not to show underwear and usually have a nice thick waistband that even hides the belly

SpryAmberSeal · 29/02/2024 23:39

I find them comfortable and wear them a lot. I work from home, walk the dogs for a few hours a day, do yoga in the evenings so I find they just suit my lifestyle. I wear dresses when I'm going somewhere that isn’t dog walking but I always change back to leggings when I get in because I feel less restricted.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 29/02/2024 23:45

I wear cotton leggings with long tee shirt or sweater and joggers with a shorter top . Both are comfy. And since I started WFH and now retired it's what I wear most days. Jeans or a dress only if I'm going out somewhere (eg meal, pub).

WhateverMate · 29/02/2024 23:53

I mean the majority of British men don't wear dresses or skirts either.

But why would you let that dictate your choice of clothing OP?

fuckityfuckityfuckfuck · 01/03/2024 00:04

There's legging and there's leggings. My primark cheap type leggings are for slobbing around. My next price rung up from sports direct leggings are for the gym (I am in noooo way a gym bunny and they are purely for ease of movement). Then my branded top tier work leggings (relevant to my job) are super comfy, warm and make my arse look like it's still 20!

I wish leggings I bought made my bum look 20 again instead of just making it look like a cotton covered space hopper. 🤪

So any brand recommendations would be okay to share. (Tbf I've only tried Matalan and Primark etc. I've never spent over £10 for a pair)

Purplestorm83 · 01/03/2024 00:15

I wear leggings all the time, but not instead of trousers - I wear them under dresses, instead of tights

Fairygoblin · 01/03/2024 00:27

Men look bad enough in skinny jeans, hate to imagine them in leggings! 😳

HollyKnight · 01/03/2024 00:30

Anti-feminist...What are feminist clothes?? Men's clothing?
