Princess Kate?

Internet is going nuts about it, the theories are insane.

Hope she’s ok

They can’t say that because it would mean Kate could pass on her thanks, and clearly she can’t - otherwise it would have already been done.

You think she’s so ill she can’t speak?!

TokyoSushi · 01/03/2024 09:26

Not RTFT but do people honestly think there's something seriously wrong with her? I'm still at the 'well it's not Easter yet, so that's why we don't know anything, likely she'll turn up on Easter Sunday looking amazing and like nothings ever happened' stage...

underthebun · 01/03/2024 09:27

They are setting boundaries about not bending to peoples will. Kate may need more surgery in the future. William will be King much younger than Charles so they are dictating what it is going to look like.

Meant to say- I doubt they'd be upfront about it if it's brain-related. Anything Neuro tends to make people panic. But who knows?

But they did say it was abdominal, which would amount to a lie if it was a brain tumour.

I did wonder if she was pregnant and had a termination for medical reasons. That could vaguely be described as abdominal I suppose. And it would be thoroughly understandable that she needs time to recover before facing the public again.

LoadsToLose · 01/03/2024 09:38

Isn’t it bloody obvious what’s going on? Does the public have collective memory loss?

Kate is traumatised from the memories of her hospital stay while pregnant, which led to the suicide of a dedicated nurse who was tricked into giving information by an arsehole broadcaster. Will & Kate have said how devastating this was for them. Can you imagine the guilt you would feel, that your healthcare led to someone’s death?

It’s obvious she’s carefully managing her hospital stay and recovery - going into full lockdown to protect herself, her family and those who are caring for her. Put yourself in her shoes… how would you feel given your previous experience?

I think it’s disgraceful that she has to do this. And really troubling that she is then criticised for doing so. I see the BBC even have an article discussing it today…. I will be very disappointed if they’re forced to break their silence.

Can you think of a single reason why a thank you statement from Kate hasn’t been released to her well wishers?

That wouldn’t prevent a one line thank you statement from her though.

setting boundaries as I said. They will do it when she reappears as if nothing has happened.

Because they want to wait till she's up and about and appearing publicly because that is what she wants to do. You know, the simplest explanation.

Because having seen the insane speculation pf the last few days they've decided that if they make a statement of thanks without her actually being seen it will just drive the crazies crazier and they'll insist that it wasn't actually her thanks and it's all a cover-up.

But no, it has to be because she's at death's door.

If true, you expect the public to continue to pay close to a £100 million a year to be treated like lepers with pitiful engagement of official visits indefinitely?? Whilst we struggle with collapsing hospitals etc.

This will the end of the institution if they pursue this line.

Exactly…. And if this is how it’s going to look, I think they’re not that worried and easily prepared to walk.

If anything you’d think that would encourage more openness so the press don’t feel the need to gain information by stealth.

She does not need to be ‘up and about’ to release a two line statement.

brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr · 01/03/2024 09:48

She works for us and I as her employer want to see her FIT note 😁

I think it’s ridiculous already, why does a thank you message make it more palatable?

I think one statement from her would shut down all of this speculation immediately and offer them total privacy, and yet it apparently isn’t possible.

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 01/03/2024 08:17

The statement said Easter. It’s not Easter yet.

Edit: I wouldn’t give in either. PP is right it’s like the braying mob after Diana died.

Edited

Can you imagine the threads on MN (or anywhere) when the Queen stayed at Balmoral to look after her bereaved grandkids instead of being at BP to ‘soothe’ the mourners? Thankfully there was no SM then.

underthebun · 01/03/2024 09:50

She will reappear as if nothing has happened, issue thanks, wave at people & get some flowers. The dc will get wheeled out for extra ahh factor & all this will be forgotten.

It proves she has capacity.

Her well wishers would have expected a statement weeks ago - they know something is very wrong. Kate’s manners are impeccable, and her application of protocol faultless.

Newchapterbeckons · 01/03/2024 09:47

No, but she might want to be.

There's nothing they can do that will satisfy people.

If she released a statement without being seen people will claim it's fake and she's dying. If it's not gushing enough people will claim they're ungrateful. If it's too gushy people will claim they aren't being respectful of protocol.

The way people have gone crazy already they are better off sticking with their approach. Literally anything they say at this point will be have a hundred things read into it so what's the point?

Primrosecottagelover · 01/03/2024 09:52

It seems like their PR have “bombed” this thread reading some of the responses. Would not surprise me given the reach of mumsnet.

Exactly. An absolute storm in a teacup.

I am not sure why there is so much speculation and outlandish theories of what the surgery was for. I had to have emergency open gall bladder removal was in hospital (NHS) for two weeks and could do very little for a minimum of 6 weeks. The poor woman could have any number of things wrong none of which is our business and we have been told where she will be and what she will be doing.

She hasn’t been seen since Christmas Day.

Newchapterbeckons · 01/03/2024 09:59

If she simply reappears I would imagine public support will drain in a flash, it’s not boundaries that will have happened here but contempt and entitlement.

Perhaps the difference between William and Harry isn’t much - at all - just different ways of dealing with it, both expecting jet set lives for doing nowt. A world away from the Queen and Prince Philip that is for sure.
