Princess Kate?

Internet is going nuts about it, the theories are insane.

Hope she’s ok

I think that is ridiculous.
They have always said that 3 children were the limit.
And the suggestions you make do not mean a 4-month recovery and 2 weeks in hospital.

AND the surgery was 'planned' - which boots your idea out of the water.

Regarding "three is the limit" - I know quite a few families which have considered themselves complete and then ended up with an unexpected "bonus baby".

But I did state that it was wild speculation and probably totally incorrect. I wasn't putting it forward as a serious contender. It only came into my mind because of other wild speculations.

EDIT: spelung

KP have just issued new statement. Confirming original timeline and all ok.

"Being seen" is standard operating procedure for people in positions of leadership. Even the late Queen said "I must be seen to be believed". It is normal that people start to wonder where the top royals are. It is an important aspect of how the public maintain a sense of connection with the royals. In this case, I know we have been told that the PoW is out of commission for another month, but radio silence can still be disconcerting to some. Especially with KC's condition, people are looking more towards PW and PoW for reassurance.

Those who draw a parallel to when the Queen was called upon when Diana died, I see no reason to feel superior to those who wanted to be reassured by the Queen in the moment of sadness. After all these acts of reassurance are part of what the monarchy does and part of the relationship they actively cultivate with the public.

"Plenty of surgery takes weeks to recovery. Transplants for example."

                                                              that bit ☝

One nutty theory is she has donated a kidney to Charles and is recovering. Honestly, that has to be the most idiotic thing ever. Didn't we see Charles on TV the other day. Could have been a body double I suppose.

Newchapterbeckons · 01/03/2024 08:31

Everything we know about her indicates a woman of integrity that wouldn’t just sit at home in silence and not even release a statement of thanks, and allow this firestorm of speculation to continue and grow. This is not her style at all.

My best hope is that she is physically okay, and the issue is with their marriage.

They absolutely do not owe us any medical information, but it’s very unusual for Kate not to thank well wishers, very unusual for William to pull out of reading at a memorial and very unusual that Kate hasn’t spoken in her own words for coming up for two months. This should be explained to the public but no, they are allowing reports of a coma to be printed and to stand without as much as a legsl warning and rumour and speculation to grow and grow. At best it’s being handled very badly.

I completely agree with this and I think it highlights an important point… it’s not at all about telling the public what the surgery is or medical issue. It’s that they’re caught in an obvious lie (saying she’s doing fine) about the seriousness of it all. There is very much a vibe of ‘we don’t owe the public anything or really care about the optics’.

Another important point is William making comments about an issue as important as Israel. It was I’ll thought out and he’s now doing damage control. To me this seems like the actions of someone fed up and more bad PR - it’s like they’re on their way out and don’t care anymore.

I really think this is all about William and Kate becoming King & Queen while their children are growing up & Kate not wanting what it entails. It won’t end with Eton, it will mean George is the Prince of Wales before he’s even a teenager and all that entails. The children will be thrusted into the spotlight and with a slim down monarchy, they’ll have less and less tabloid fodder & glamour to trade.

Charlotte will basically be carrying the “glamour burden” as soon as she hits teenage years.

George will have a billion dollar duchy while his brother and sister are forced to keep up with those circles and do it “Harry style”.

I think they all want out

I think she has had a colostomy. It takes people 8 weeks to recover and then they need time to be confident to change the stoma bags etc and she's under so much scrutiny she needs to be expert at it. So that accounts for the hiding away and the recovery time.
I hope she recovers: I'm not a fan of RF (especially not Andrew) but don't envy their life in the public eye.

Newchapterbeckons · 01/03/2024 08:32

This is NOT an update. Literally nothing has changed.

Would that prevent her from producing a thank you statement of two lines?

The answer is no.

Why? Why now? Why not at the end if her break?

DappledThings · 01/03/2024 08:37

Kensington Palace made it clear in January the timelines of the princess’ recovery and we’d only be providing significant updates. That guidance stands
That's a brilliant statement. Love the subtext of "now fuck off you prurient weirdos".

Because it is totally standard royal protocol. After a few days - maybe a week or two it always happens without fail.

The King isn’t working, and has cancer but took the time to give his heartfelt thanks. It is a glaring omission that Kate has not done this.

ExactlySo · 01/03/2024 08:38

This is the press release from yesterday.

A royal spokesperson said: 'Kensington Palace made it clear in January the timelines of the princess' recovery and we'd only be providing significant updates. That guidance stands.'

Except that kind of contempt will end the very existence of the royal family.

That just means they are digging in.
Bad move.

Or possibly just a small section/ resection. That can still take a good 3 months recovery as well even though it’s a relatively less major surgery.

Maybe they don't care about that outcome any more than lots of people do. Fair play to them.

William did it on her behalf.

Leave her alone.

This witch hunt here is ridiculous.

The judgy comments from posters who are not in any position AT ALL to make judgements.

She hasn’t spoken not for months. This is very concerning. People thanking on her behalf is not the same, it indicates she isn’t able to.

Newchapterbeckons · 01/03/2024 08:43

My guess is that KP were desperately hoping there would be sufficient progress that a more buoyant update could be released. Obviously that hasn’t happened. Now no one knows what to do.

It really doesn't. It indicates she's sticking to her intention to recover on her own time, as she has every right to do.

You can chose to extrapolate from that a hundred wild theories and take personal offence at what you perceive as lack of correct protocol but it's all very silly.

Newchapterbeckons · 01/03/2024 08:33

The answer is no.

Exactly, the issue is not really about invasion of privacy (of course people will allow her the time and rest required to recover) but the really odd way the PR has been handled. It’s clearly possible at this stage to put out two sentences thanking the public for their well wishes like what Charles did. There is no surgery in the world complex enough that the patient cannot approve two lines of text 8 weeks later. By not doing this they’re adding fuel to the fact that she’s either entirely incapacitated or recovering well but can’t be bothered to update or thank the public.

The recent update is essentially telling people to fuck off. The tone is unusually harsh for an official statement and the sentence grammatically incorrect. No word of thanks or any fluff fillers that you would expect.

SurelySmartie · 01/03/2024 08:53

But they said she would be recovering in private for three months with likely no further updates. They’re just confirming they’re sticking to that.
Why are people having such difficulty with it?
