Princess Kate?

Internet is going nuts about it, the theories are insane.

Hope she’s ok

Isnt it a royal protocol a royal being photographed entering the hospital but also leaving the hospital- there are pictures of Charles, when the queen had hospital visits etc, when babies have been born etc- and none of catherine?

what kind of surgery takes 6 weeks to recover from, anyone who has been in the nhs hospital and has had an op for anything to do with the stomach gets told to get up and mobile asap, lesser than 24hrs atter a major stomach op catherer is taken out so patient has to get up to to to the toilet, and women tend to babies after a major op, c section.

seems like the young “royals” want the benefits of passive income and billionaire lifestyle but dont want the mandatory photo ops and ribbon cutting that goes along with it

Ok, here we go. I had an emergency section with my son. Catheter was in for 3 days after. I didn’t get up out of bed until day 4. Home on day 7. 5 days later I was blue lighted back in with infections where I stayed for 5 nights. It took me weeks to recover fully.

10 years ago I had a hysterectomy. I was in hospital for 6 days this time. Home and then 6 weeks recovery. I wasn’t able to drive for 5 of those. Phased return to work etc.

Plenty of surgery takes weeks to recovery. Transplants for example.

tamade · 01/03/2024 06:46

@cleaningandbathing

What makes you think she has had a transplant?

underthebun · 01/03/2024 06:46

@cleaningandbathing I had a CS & was shipped home the next day without even any painkillers. It took me months to feel normal again but my life didn’t stop because you know life.

But KM needs to look like nothing has happened to her when she reappears that is the difference & the sexist outdated burden placed upon her.

Oh that’s good. My life nearly did stop when my husband found me unresponsive in bed.

I’m due to have major, open abdominal surgery and have been told it is 2 weeks off sick. What on earth was it to warrant a couple of months? Not like she’s doing anything terribly manual anyway?

2 weeks would be quite good for open abdominal surgery so be prepared it might be longer- I don’t know what your having done of course, or how quickly your body will recover.

FUPAgirl · 01/03/2024 06:59

I agree with the above, you will likely need more than 2 weeks!

willWillSmithsmith · 01/03/2024 07:02

underthebun · 29/02/2024 20:22

@willWillSmithsmith were you seriously ill? I had my appendix removed before it was keyhole, I wasn’t seriously ill though. My CS advice was “do nothing for 3 months” but in the real world with a baby it’s not very practical.

Yes, I had a colorectomy. Did I want everyone at work to know, no. Some knew of course (my boss, my immediate colleagues etc) but no reason for me to announce it to every member of staff. It definitely wasn’t keyhole (not sure if it can be done that way.)

underthebun · 01/03/2024 07:04

@willWillSmithsmith but why do you think that is what Kate had? And if she was seriously ill why would her sister be on holiday?

underthebun · 01/03/2024 07:06

@cleaningandbathing you are aware that not everyone has the same experience as you?! 🙄

Oh no, don’t they? I thought everyone was the same.

which goes to show none of us know anything about the point of the original post. We are all different. Different issues, different recovery times.

I never said that? I have no idea what she had (why would I?) My point was that some (abdominal area) surgeries do indeed take months to recover from. I also had a full hysterectomy a few years later and had a longer than normal, complicated recovery from that.

Hence why it’s pointless to centre yourself in the conversation 😆

MikeRafone · 01/03/2024 07:12

the place are having bets on which theory will next come out about where Kate is?

Lord Lucan and Shergar are quell surprised by the interest when they went missing it was without warning!

underthebun · 01/03/2024 07:13

@willWillSmithsmith why bring it up then?!

Groundbreaking, to think 14 pages in that no one is aware of this.

This thread is hilarious!

I have to have surgery and have been told my recovery time will be 2 months, I have told my employer I will be off but they are insisting on knowing what the surgery is for and why I will be off for two months - I want some privacy and don't see why a doctors note with Abdominal surgery will not ok AIBU to want privacy and the employer doesn't kneed to know the details other than abdominal surgery?

Loads of surgeries have a long recovery time. My dad had bowel cancer three times and three bowel resections. Two weeks in hospital and three months to recover would have been about right each time. Obviously she doesn't have cancer but that surgery can be carried out for other reasons.

There will be other surgeries that are similar.

I think they're doubling down on not bending to public pressure to release personal info. They have decades of this to come and they're setting out their stall. Kate had surgery and is recovering. William missed one personal engagement for a personal reason - not like he missed the state opening of parliament.

Much as I'm a nosy fecker, I'm inclined to think good for them.

Coupled together with their usual work ethic, I don’t think good for them at all, I say the end is nigh if they want a lavish royal lifestyle and do absolutely nothing in return. A 100 engagements in an entire year last year is simply not good enough.

For the first three weeks I was off my employers didn’t know what for, other than I was in hospital and was going to have a surgery. They had no other information than that. I told my boss after I returned home after those three weeks as I needed another three months off to recover.

DappledThings · 01/03/2024 07:49

I find it so weird that anyone is so invested that they are totting up the amount of time they have seen members of the Royal family and how many words of a press release they have seen and using that as a metric to decide if they they think the family are still worthy of their support.

I have no idea if Willilam is doing less than usual, I have no idea what his usual schedule is. And the idea that not seeing a photo of Kate whilst recovering is rude, rather than just allowing a woman to recover in her own time is really weird too.

Why is anyone so invested in it?

That's an entirely different matter. I've no idea if they're lazy but I do know their jobs shouldn't exist.

Alas their jobs do exist but I don't think that means they owe us their private medical info.
