I’m 50+ and only just really appreciating Fleetwood Mac!

The dynamics of the band, the turmoil, the bloody fantastic songwriting that was so personal but made them such an awesome group!

Growing up I didn’t really know about Fleetwood Mac until the mid 80’s, and I think the fact that they had different lead singers within the band, involved in their various hits, during the 80’s I suppose this confused me and when listening on the radio, thought I was listening to a different band when they had a hit!

Just wanted to show my appreciation to them in a AIBU thread, just because 😆

I watched a documentary a while ago about them and tbh was totally floored! I missed out on them during my youth and subsequent grunge rock 90’s+ moment! I was never really into them back then….

How bloody awesome were/are they!

Also incredibly sad about Christine McVie ❤️

I love Fleetwood Mac and Rumours is one of the best albums ever recorded! Have always loved them and was gutted to hear of Christine McVie's death. Stevie Nicks has such a fabulous voice. The song 'Sara' is so haunting and ethereal, it just takes me to a different place. I never tire of listening to it.

Thedogscollar · 22/02/2024 00:23

One of the best and most talented bands ever to walk this earth.

Oneofthesurvivors · 22/02/2024 00:24

Tusk is a cracking album.

Sk8erboi · 22/02/2024 00:25

I love Landslide most but I often tell Alexa to play Fleetwood mac and all their music is just amazing.
I dont recall them as a band growing up but do remember some of their songs so I definitely didn't appreciate them back then but making up for it now.

TurkishDelight72 · 22/02/2024 00:28

Have loved them since Tango in the Night in the 80s when I was a teenager.
What's great is that their newer stuff was good too, although Rumours is pretty much unbeatable.

If you're interested I'd recommend Mick Fleetwood and Stevie Nicks autobiographies, full of interesting stories.

Have seen them live - they’re bloody amazing! One of my favourite bands ever ❤️

Bemyclementine · 22/02/2024 00:29

Theyre just bloody amazing. My parents played Tango in the night, which lead me to listen to Rumours, and Tusk. Even as a child I loved them. Stevie Nicks was just so cool.

Stevie Nicks is, I don’t have the words, she is beautifully flawless with such an amazing voice.

I’ve found my people. 🎼🎹🎸

BringMeSaltandVinegar · 22/02/2024 00:40

I adore Fleetwood Mac. I especially love Go Your Own Way, Tusk, Tango in the Night, Beautiful Child, and The Chain.

I love going to tribute nights. They're very popular. It's so fun being in a rammed crowd with everyone singing and dancing along.

coxesorangepippin · 22/02/2024 00:42

Yeah I'm 40s and really like them

Like led zeppelin too

Late discovery

Chocladore · 22/02/2024 00:45

Not a bad band at all, being an early aged 60+ person, they were appreciated at the time; but then we were blessed with a conucopia of enduring bands, songs, etc that all of us, young and old, can still enjoy to this day, including The Mac.

Sleepysleep19 · 22/02/2024 00:58

I was on a PGL holiday in 1976 in the Brecon Beacons and Fleetwood Mac was everything that we listened too .I was about 13 and think it was the same holiday that Elves died…need to check the dates Am thinking August ?

I watched one a while ago about them which was bloody amazing! Pretty sure it was the BBC one! Such detail about them! In fact it was so good I really need to see if it’s still available to watch!

Think that’s where I learned more about the Nicks/Buckingham dynamics and where the awesome songs came from!

My parents were fans, so I grew up listening to them. I think Rumours is one of the most perfect albums ever. Just loaded with great tunes. I can sing every song word perfectly even now 😂

FoulWrinkledWitch · 22/02/2024 01:41

Absolutely love them! Especially Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie, I love both their voices. So sad when Christine died. Outstanding musicians with an incredible chemistry. Also the sadly missed Peter Green who founded the original band. The beautiful song Man of the World is very poignant. There was a TV documentary on his life a few years ago, definitely worth watching, also called Man of the World.

mrssunshinexxx · 22/02/2024 03:55
