TO THINK THERE'S A LOCH NESS MONSTER

I really believe there's something undiscovered in the 23 mile pitch black Loch, Too many people have seen SOMETHING. Over 1000 sightings. Okay dome could be the mind, tricks of the light, logs, seals etc but surely not all. No it can't be a plesiosaur as the loch is only 10,000 years old and they died out millions of years ago. Sonar and DNA proved there isn't one but doesn't it connect to the sea? So it could come and go and not be in there permanently. Adrian Shine who has camped there 40 years and Jeremy Wade both think it's a huge Greenland shark. Giant eel 20ft long? The most dna found was from eels.

The Inverness tourist board certainly think there is a monster in the loch. Nessie tat is big business.

sprigatito · 21/02/2024 18:26

I hope there is, and I hope we never find out for sure! Life needs a little mystery here and there.

Friedchickenrocks · 21/02/2024 18:26

It's top of my bucket list to go there before I die.

@Friedchickenrocks its quite beautiful and lovely for walking but didn’t see anything floating around at all

BreakfastAtMimis · 21/02/2024 18:28

Yeah I thought so too...when I was 10 years old!

Thing is there has to have been a small family and it's always said there isn't enough food to support one giant animal let alone a dozen or so but what if it comes and goes to the sea where there's more food?

How would a Greenland shark look like the "photos" of Nessie?

yulii · 21/02/2024 18:29

yabu, but its well worth going to see as its very beautiful and worth going on an explore to other places in the highlands too.

There are no photos of Nessie, so it can look however it wants!

Windy23 · 21/02/2024 18:30

Adrian Shine hasn't camped there for 40 years. There is a bloke who has "camped" there for years but it's not Adrian Shine, he just lives in the area (and pops up with monotonous regularity on any TV programme about the loch).

Friedchickenrocks · 21/02/2024 18:31

Anyone here ever been and will admit to seeing something?

I still believe

Sorry, yes the other guy that lives in an old van and makes Nessie models to pay for his food.

Yes definitely! And the beast of bodmin.

Galeforcewindatmywindow · 21/02/2024 18:33

Took the dc there a couple of years ago. The information centre is absolutely fascinating.. There is feel of mystery and hope there.. Sadly didn't see anything but I do believe there is something there...

Yes, I know that Grin

My point was that none of the eyewitness accounts look anything like a Greenland shark - which also wouldn't be anywhere near the surface anyway - so how could that be a possible explanation?

OldTinHat · 21/02/2024 18:34

When I was aged about 7yrs old, I had two ambitions. One was to see the 1999 eclipse (I did, baby in tow), the second was to go to Loch Ness. Haven't made it yet!

There's obviously a funny old thing going on in that Loch. I did a school project on it when I was 11 🤔

Some sonar boats have traced the whole Loch and found unexplained things. I will get up there one day, just because it was on my 7yr old bucket list!

Brahumbug · 21/02/2024 18:34

The loch isn't connected directly to the sea, Nessie would have to negotiate Neptune's Staircase😂. Loch Ness is so busy with boats that Nessie would soon be run over. I would love there to be a monster, but there clearly isn't.☹️

Herdinggoats · 21/02/2024 18:34

Nessie is shy, she should be left in peace. Maybe if all the tourists stopped trying to find her she’d stop feeling the need to hide.

Cushionsandcaramel · 21/02/2024 18:34

Of course Nessie exists!

Along with haggises that roam the Scottish hills.

Friedchickenrocks · 21/02/2024 18:34

It can't. Most sightings have humps and a long neck but that's what those two think it is. The River Monsters special was repeated recently.

Sorry but a lot of rubbish!

TimeIhadaNightCapwithSanta · 21/02/2024 18:35

I had a good friend who grew up by the Loch and whilst she wouldn't admit it to just anyone for fear of being mocked she, and others in her family, was firmly of the opinion that there was something there. I want to believe.

I've been many times and never seen anything!

whenlifegivesyoulemonssuckonthem · 21/02/2024 18:37

I live not far from there! I’ll happily go viewing something is ever proven
