Boyfriend wants to take my friend out on a date

So, trying to keep this one short. My friend from out of town is coming to stay with me for a few days. My boyfriend has met her and gone out with us the last time she was in town. My boyfriend has taken a couple of days off work to go out with us.

I've mentioned I was going to do a gym&swim on one of the days she's here (I can spend up to 4 hours gymming & swimming) and my boyfriend said he'll ask my friend whether she wants to go on a long walk and for a lunch at the local pub with him. I said that would make me feel uncomfortable, he said he doesn't see any reason why this would make me feel uncomfortable.

Aibu to insist this would make anyone feel uncomfortable?

👌 Thank you. That was easier than reading 19 pages.

So are we saying dump him?

Well I would

Find it odder that your friend coming to see you and you are "gymming and swimming" for 4 hours without her

This. Seems like your boyfriend is a better friend than you are tbh

You mad? Friend is a long term friendship and is aware of OP's broken back issues. Friend wants to be with OP during rehabilitation.

New boyfriend wants to stop this despite OP friend saying she doesn't want that.

I'd hate to think of what you call friendship. Duh, do you think friend should pander to a strange man? You are like that, they aren't.

Omg! Did not know you could see the prior message. That’s both great and terrible.

Jack80 · 26/01/2024 07:22

I would ask your friend does she fancy gym and swim or a spa day

Pennypop81 · 26/01/2024 07:23

Think he is maybe compensating for you doing your own thing while you have a visitor. Sounds like he’s a great boyfriend. If you really need to disappear for 4 hours then maybe be grateful that he’s willing to step in and help?

Insecure much? Jesus, why would you leave your friend to go the gym and for a swim? Just skip it that week and spend the time with her. Sounds very selfish..

Do people who don’t read the thread just think their advice will be so amazing and unique that they don’t need to read any other comments or OP’s answers to follow up questions?

Bonus dumbass points for the rude replies like the one above.

@VoiceOfCommonSense

VoiceOfCommonSense · 26/01/2024 14:08

Because it’s 22 pages long love. Not all of us have time to go through every comment and reply. You just read what the poster says and then reply. I think you need to chill instead of jumping on peoples replies as soon as they post them and giving them shit for it straight away. What are you doing? Sitting there reading all the replies hoping for a chance to have a go at someone?

I agree with @AliceOlive and @VoleChomper . Do you not even read all the OP's posts?

Brianiac · 26/01/2024 14:11

Yep. People think that, on a thread with 500 posts, they're saying something that hasn't been said 1000 times over.

And don't even skip to the end, either to get the gist?? WTAF

VoiceOfCommonSense · 26/01/2024 14:14

Did you not read my post? I said no it’s 22 pages long so did t go through it. I read the first one and have my opinion, no need to delve in to it any further..

Brianiac · 26/01/2024 14:14

And obviously they're farrrrrr to busy to be skipping to the end or reading the actual context like you other sad sacks.

Not too busy to drop by and leave your useless two cents on a now redundant thread, though...🙄

But if you can't even be arsed to at least read all the OP's posts to see if they added pertinent information further on, you have the option of not posting at all. It's not compulsory to share your opinion. There are plenty of threads where I think, long thread, can't be arsed to check if someone has already covered what I think, so I won't post at all on it.
