Why the hell are GMB gaslighting women with this stuff?

https://twitter.com/GMB/status/1749329378352275568

This is an enormous male-bodied person - even larger than the interviewing man!

I am glad to see the polling results.

As to 'misgendering' I am not an adherent of the transideology belief system. Misgendering is a made up word to me.

My own belief system is led by reality. My statements are led by this and unless you are saying my speech should be compelled to reflect someone else's belief system that is in direct conflict with my own I can call this person a man.

How is it dripping with hate?

I disagree that males should be able to cheat their way into taking women’s spaces in sports competitions or as in this case - win them entirely! And “I’M’” hateful?

Its not hateful to women to take away their hopes and dreams, hard work and chances to win?

Hopes and dreams about playing golf? It's only a game!

Isn't it just @bluebunny1

@OvaHere Oh no it would be so unladylike to be disrespectful wouldn't it!

Men do not belong in female spaces and sports doesn't matter how many unnecessary surgeries they have, they are still men!

TheKeatingFive · 23/01/2024 09:51

Hopes and dreams about playing golf? It's only a game!

Tell that to the man taking women's opportunities then

ArabellaScott · 23/01/2024 09:52

Hopes and dreams about playing golf? It's only a game!

Some people are professional sports people, and this is their career.

It isn't only a game. That is to play into the hands of people like ParkRun.

It is a serious sport, that people train for, spend their life training and getting better. And given the prize money available on the professional circuit, it is well worth being good at.

And can be people’s livelihoods like any professional sport

Does that only matter when it’s a male? Why?

TheKeatingFive · 23/01/2024 09:54

I notice that 'it's only a game' is only ever trotted out with regards to women's sports. Everyone seems on board with men's sports as an industry worth billions of dollars.

It helps to see the physical reality in these reports

All the falsifying language falls apart

@TotalAbsenceOfImperialRaiment

It might only be a game, but it bring sponsorship, prizes etc. In the USA when Thomas stole the swimming cup, he took a women's university funding!!

Sports come with scholarships, who will fund a women if they know a man can just enter? The men, who are often sub par in their sport, just change categories, so that they can win. If this continues, there won't be any high level women in sport.

HermioneKipper · 23/01/2024 09:57

TotalAbsenceOfImperialRaiment · 23/01/2024 09:50

Hopes and dreams about playing golf? It's only a game!

And there we are.

It didn’t take long for someone to just admit what all these men really think. Women’s rights and sports don’t matter.

Try telling Rory McIlroy that golf is just a game and he should just hand over all his trophies and winnings to a cheat

Everyone does know this is going on.

No they don't. I only know about it now by clicking on this thread.

I wonder what would happen if the women's international football team played a trans women player? As far as I am aware, they are able to apply to play football at the elite level of football still, unless I am mistaken.

thatsnicedeer · 23/01/2024 10:03

I find it incredible on the interview that they happily acknowledge the physical advantages of men over women "if they haven't been taking treatment" but completely ignore the advantage they have from decades of male development. I also feel the interviewer should have asked a follow up question at this point, asking about the obvious physical advantages this player has over players born as women and their opinion on that

MrsOvertonsWindow · 23/01/2024 10:16

I saw this run yesterday on GMB & Susanna & Ed Balls commented afterwards (with lots of sighing and umming) that men shouldn't be playing in women's sport.

TheKeatingFive · 23/01/2024 09:10

It is well documented that trans women are also not safe around men and I don’t want anyone to feel unsafe.

So we have men, feeling unsafe in men's spaces, because of the behaviour of other men.

Why are women being involved at all. We are not men's shields.

Again, I didn’t say that we should be involved. I have specifically said a number of times that trans women should not be in women’s spaces. I just made the point that I think that they should have their own space where they can feel safe.

SchoolQuestionnaire · 23/01/2024 10:21

WickedSerious · 23/01/2024 09:29

If these men are having problems with other men they should take it up with those other men.

It's not up to women to sort it out.

Where exactly did I say that it’s up to women to sort out?

SchoolQuestionnaire · 23/01/2024 10:24

thedankness · 23/01/2024 09:40

An extra category for transwomen just gives men another category in which to compete and win medals, when women's sport already does not have parity with men's in terms of funding, coverage etc. So it's not fair unless you also have a category for transmen. The problem with that is you're creating a category where doping (taking testosterone) is allowed. You're also creating two far smaller pools of competitors, thus increasing the likelihood of winning. You're doing this based on identity alone, as there is no way to meaningfully distinguish between "genuine trans" (whatever that means) and someone identifying into the trans category in order to increase their likelihood of success. The caveat is that they have to alter their body in harmful ways, either by taking cross-sex hormones or drugs to reduce their hormones.

I think this would be a real slippery slope in terms of athletes being encouraged/forced into altering their bodies to enter the trans category, which is highly unethical. We have already seen this with Caster Semenya - a male athlete with a DSD. Men with DSDs are scouted because they are guaranteed medals if they compete in the women's category. This is obviously unfair on women athletes, but it is also exploiting the male athletes in usually poorer countries who will suffer the health consequences of lowering their testosterone.

At the end of the day not everyone has the ability to compete in elite sport, whether down to genetics, choice or a combination of both. If you choose to make alterations to your body that doesn't necessarily give you the right to your own category of sport. Trans people are not a third group of people; they are men and women with varying body modifications. They should compete in an open category with men, and there should be a female-only category.

This is an excellent point and one I hadn’t actually considered, thank you.

Just so i can be clear before i get indignant.

Are you telling me to think about what i said right before you paraphrase what i said. Or are you just emphasising what i said and agreeing with it?

I’m saying that you keep announcing you’re not ‘TERFy’ but your actual position is exactly the same as the ‘TERF’ one.

OvaHere · 23/01/2024 10:31

LondonLass91 · 23/01/2024 09:47

As much as you have Sharron Davies, Martina, Daily Thompson etc stating that this is unfair, you then have Tom Daley and Gary Lineker saying that trans women are women and as such, it is unfair to exclude them from women only sport. And I cannot understand how they can possibly think that? How on earth can these sport men not understand how unfair women find it?

They know it's unfair. They like it that way.

I fully agree that third spaces are a good idea. However, so far these have been shot down or ignored when suggested.

I think you're both violently agreeing with each other tbh 😁
