I can't remember feeling so unwell before. I'm coughing up horrible green stuff (sorry tmi), my throat is agony, my chest really hurts when I cough, I have zero appetite, haven't eaten properly in 6 days now, and instead of getting better I'm feeling a bit better one day and then 20x worse the next. I've tried to keep going at work this week despite feeling so awful so maybe that hasn't helped, I've possibly pushed myself too far. I'm at home today and feeling absolutely rotten. Im in tears with the pain all over my body and my throat and chest 😢

Anyone else got this ?? It's absolutely floored me. I've called the GP and they're ringing me back this afternoon but in all honesty they'll probably just say it's viral and I have to ride it out. 😢

I'm getting over it, but still getting a cough that interrupts my speech and comes from nowhere. I had it since around Christmas...

My housemate is just coming down with it.

I saw someone on another part of the t'Internet call it 100 day cough.

ZenNudist · 20/01/2024 19:26

I've had something that started with chestiness sore throat occasionally coughing and feeling really sick plus vomiting. That was boxing day. I was ill for 2 whole weeks in bed and then feeling bit better but then back to bed. Certainly not awake enough to watch even crap TV. Totally drained.

Developed the green mucus and non stop cough worse at night plus head cold plus head ache plus brain fog.

Now recovering but bleeding knackered. Not slept in weeks. Dh got it after me and my dad has been ill with it too. Its been a very long illness for me and I don't usually take abed.

Rant rant. Sympathy to all suffering on here.

Whooping cough? But If I've been vaccinated would I not be protected from this?

You need someone to listen to your chest in person - with a stethoscope. You may well need antibiotics / have pneumonia - please request a face to face exam.

I'm going to insist on being seen face to face on Monday if I'm still this unwell, by then it will have been 11 days since I became unwell and since I ate properly.

Yep.

I was taken into hospital on Sunday and got discharged on Thursday.

I have never been so ill and it's been going on for 18 days now.

What was up with u? Hope you’re ok?

edissa · 20/01/2024 19:31

@ZenNudist apart from the nausea and vomiting this sounds very similar to me. Extremely fatigued also, from the smallest of things like going downstairs to make a drink. I've spent so much time just lying in bed.

Jadeee123 · 20/01/2024 19:31

Aw hope you’re feeling better soon! It’s terrible xx

HousePlantNeglect · 20/01/2024 19:33

Yes! I'm floored with it! I keep testing as I cannot believe it isn't covid.

Tight chest, horrible cough, aching skin and muscles, fever and shivering, and a bit of nausea to boot.

Poor kids have had it to. Now I know why they were so clingy and upset!

43ontherocksporfavor · 20/01/2024 19:34

Yes DH had it. Day 3 of Amoxicillin and he’s improving. Had it 2 weeks and he’s really fit. Have never seen him like it, almost crying out because he just could not stop coughing in the night to the point of vomiting. I had a much milder version.

edissa · 20/01/2024 19:35

I'm retching at points with the coughing as it's so violent and relentless but not nauseous per se, just feeling sickly during the violent coughs because they're making me retch 😫

OP posts:
edissa · 20/01/2024 19:36

@HousePlantNeglect I'm also negative for covid on 2 lateral flows I did earlier this week.

Have you had a x ray on your chest? Xx

43ontherocksporfavor · 20/01/2024 19:42

OP DH got a video appointment ( our gp offers the Livi app for free) so nobody listened to his chest but he was happy to prescribe antibiotic as he said symptoms of sinus and chest infection. If no improvements he’s to go back for an x-ray.

MyUsernameIsBetterThanYours · 20/01/2024 19:44

Me too 😩

Came down with it last Sunday. I was in bed two days this week feeling utterly miserable, awful chesty cough, throat like razor blades, totally bunged up, achey and weak. I went back to work (from home) Thursday and Friday as was feeling slightly better and thought I was on the mend but it seems to have mutated - chesty cough now a dry, hacking, tickly cough that I get big fits of to the point where my eyes are streaming. Losing my voice again too.

Really can’t afford more time off work next week, I’m so behind, I’m going to need to work late most nights as it is to get back on track after last week.

Last time I had a cough that bad it was pneumonia. That was years ago.

I've been almost as bad recently. Finished around of amoxicillin and now into a round of Doxycycline as it hasn't shifted from my right lung. Am feeling much better though and coughing has lessened. I can even lie down to sleep now (had to sit bolt upright for a few days) as long as I only lie on my left.

I'd be pushing very very hard to have your chest listened to asap.

Infection on my lower lung which triggered acute severe asthma. It was very scary.

I'm still coughing and I'm sure the infection has spread to my other lung.

HolidayAtNight · 20/01/2024 19:57

I had it for over 3 weeks over Christmas and am now absolutely exhausted. I'm getting a bit worried that I just don't seem to be getting my energy back, even after an early night and a good long sleep. Like others, I tested multiple times for Covid and they were all negative.

JadeVS72 · 20/01/2024 19:58

I've had a cough since the first week of December but what I cough up is colourless/whiteish and I haven't had a temperature. There are some nasty viruses going around but I know several people who have had chest infections and required antibiotics. Yours sounds awful! Could you see a pharmacist tomorrow? I think they can listen to your chest and give you an indication of whether you need to see GP Monday, they may also be able to give you antibiotics.

TheFormidableMrsC · 20/01/2024 19:58

Yes I had this, it was Covid. Took about 3 weeks to shift.

No I haven't been seen at all in person yet. Spoke to GP yesterday over the phone who basically said she was confident it was flu and to call back Monday if it's no better.

So sad yous are all feeling like this but glad I’m not the only one! I haven’t been able to eat anything really for over a week apart from when I take my doxycycline as you need to. I go to sleep every night praying I can wake up feeling. Abit more normal in the morning x

That’s what my doc said but I ended up going to walk in as I knew something was not right. X ray and bloods done and had pneumonia. X

edissa · 20/01/2024 20:00

I did tell the GP the severity of it and how I haven't eaten properly in a week, she didn't seem concerned about that as long as I was drinking fluids.

@Jadeee123 I'm going to push to be seen in person on Monday if it's no better then.
Hope you're on the mend now x
